In this episode of Traveller’s Journal, I take you back to France and share my experience volunteering while travelling through platforms like Worldpackers, Workaway, and WWOOF — three platforms that connect travellers with hosts in exchange for a few hours of help each day.

From volunteering and meeting people from completely different backgrounds to experiencing everyday life in France in a way that traditional tourism simply can't offer, this journey taught me that sometimes the best way to travel is to become part of the place you're visiting.

I'll also share 7 tips for anyone thinking about trying this kind of travel themselves — from choosing the right platform and host, to what to look for before committing, how to make the most of the experience, and how to avoid some of the mistakes I made along the way.
