In this episode of the Texas Advantage Roofing Podcast, co-founders Adrian Vela and Sam Parker sit down with Sales Manager Gabe Miller — the corners that get cut on your roof, the insurance games designed to wear you down, and the hidden damage that can sit above your ceiling for years.

Gabe walks through his path from teaching, to solar, to knocking his first roofing door almost by accident — and what it takes to make it in sales when rejection is the job, not a setback.

Then it gets technical fast: why mixing manufacturers can void your warranty, why reused underlayment leaves decking exposed to rot, why ice and water shield needs to wrap every penetration, why starter and hip-and-ridge get swapped for cut-up three-tab shingle to save money, and why roughly 90 percent of Houston homes are improperly ventilated — quietly cutting decades off a roof's life.

The second half breaks down how insurance works against homeowners: why claims get denied despite obvious damage, why the person photographing your roof for the adjuster may have never inspected one, why the cheapest policy can leave you fully on the hook, and why insurers are financially incentivized to stall.

Adrian and Sam also open up about running a growing company — the hours, the team, and the opportunity for sales reps willing to push through what Gabe calls "Max Q."

Whether you're a homeowner wondering what's happening above your ceiling, someone weighing a career in roofing sales, or curious how a fast-growing Texas company runs day to day, this episode is a direct, unfiltered look behind the shingles.
