Non-pharmacological approaches: parental involvement, play therapy, positioning

“I am currently an active paramedic who works primarily as clinical educator in the United Kingdom delivering resuscitation training to healthcare staff for the NHS Trust. In my spare time I assist in the delivery of CPD/CME education to health care workers around the world. I have a background of 12 years in the Ambulance Sector, working on the frontline, event medicine, rapid response, emergency medical dispatch and delivering training. I have achieved a bachelor’s degree in Paramedic Science. I also volunteer in my spare time to help progress current research articles by peer reviewing upcoming manuscripts for international journals and I have been fortunate enough to published papers on Covid-19, effects of Vaccinations, Health Education and barriers to managing emergency paediatric patients in the prehospital setting.”

He has over 30 years experience in the paramedic profession and gives us great insight into what it is like to be a MICA Flight Paramedic on this episode and in his must read book, 'A Life on the Line'. We chat about the power of reflection, advice to students, mindset and attitude and much more. We don't go too much into the cases that he has been to as we think that it is something that you need to read in his book!

      <itunes:title>S1 Ep1: Graduate Paramedic Britt Shaw</itunes:title>

Welcome to our very first episode of 'The Student Paramedic Podcast'. We have a chat to Britt Shaw, a new graduate paramedic in the NSW Ambulance Service. When she was a student in 2018 and 2019 she was the Queensland Coordinator for SPA. When creating the podcast, the most common topic that we received questions about was the graduate position and the process of applying. So, we thought 'why not make this our very first episode'? So many of our peers have just completed their degree and are waiting to find out about employment. But, this is also for current students! Britt gives insight into her student experience, her tips for the application process, what she does to look after her wellbeing and much more.
