The Roads that Changed Us' is an episodic, pre-recorded podcast dedicated to the motorcycle riders whose journeys don't fit the luxury motorcycle travel vlogs. This show is not about expensive machines or curated adventures, but about the people who ride because the road called them, and who came back changed. A few of these people live in or around Aarhus, and I could start with them, and afterwards reach out in the motorcycle community for more people to interview.

Hosted by me, a long-distance motorcycle & tent traveler, each episode dives into the stories of riders from all walks of life: the workers, the wanderers, the rebels... we explore what they've seen, what they've survived, who they've become along the way and about the special bond with the machines who took them there. The podcast will be about the stretches of road that made us rethink our lives, the breakdowns (of motorcycle or of rider) that forced us to meet new people and endure the unknown, about the detours that led to new beginnings. And yes, it will also be about the bikes themselves, the scars, the scratches and patches, the improvised repairs, the reasons we fall in love with them.

Whether you ride or want to ride or simply love a good love story about real people on real journeys 'The Roads that Changed Us' brings you the voices usually lost beneath the YouTube noise.

This episode is a small part of a video recording from my (upcoming) documentary about Russian motorcycle culture, in Irkutsk Russian Federation in July 2022. After seeing the motorcycle museum downtown, I headed to a garage neighborhood to spend time with Andreyi. He shared with me the story of his first night camping on the road for a big journey – Irkutsk to Sochi, for the Olympic Games in 2014, and the monster that scared them in the night. The excitement to be camping outdoors, the nerves, the little scares that come from being on the road, it all made Andreyi’s journey unforgettable.
