Overview

Welcome back to our Holy Week series on The Reformed Classroom Podcast! Each day this week we are walking through the events that took place during the final days of Jesus’ life leading up to His death, burial, and resurrection.

In today’s episode, we look at the events of Holy Tuesday, when a shocking plan begins to unfold. One of Jesus’ own disciples—Judas Iscariot—agrees to betray Him.

Through several passages in the Gospels, we learn what betrayal means and why Judas’ actions were so painful. Judas had walked closely with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and heard His teaching. Yet his heart had grown hardened by sin.

This episode helps children understand the seriousness of sin, the danger of allowing sin to harden our hearts, and the incredible truth that God was still completely in control of His plan to save His people through Jesus.

Even Judas’ betrayal was part of the plan that would lead Jesus to the cross—the place where He would give His life so that sinners could be forgiven and restored to God.

Scripture Reading

Luke 22:1–6

Matthew 26:14–16

Mark 14:10–11

John 6:70–71

John 12:5–6

Romans 8:13

Family Discussion Questions

What does the word betray mean?

Why was Judas’ betrayal of Jesus such a serious and painful thing?

How can sins like greed, jealousy, or fear affect our hearts?

Why is it important for us to fight against our sin instead of loving it?

What does the Bible say we should do with our sin?

Was Jesus surprised by Judas’ betrayal?

Overview

Welcome back to our Holy Week series on The Reformed Classroom Podcast! Each day this week we are walking through the events leading up to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In today’s episode, we look at what happened on Holy Monday. After entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Jesus went to the temple, the place where people were supposed to gather to worship God. But when Jesus arrived, He found that the temple had been turned into a noisy marketplace.

Jesus cleansed the temple, reminding the people that God’s house was meant to be a house of prayer.

Later, Jesus cursed a fig tree that had leaves but no fruit, teaching an important lesson about what true faith looks like. Just like the fig tree looked healthy on the outside but produced no fruit, the religious leaders appeared faithful but did not truly know God.

This episode helps children understand that God cares about our hearts, not just what we look like on the outside.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 21:12-12

Zechariah 9:9

Family Discussion Questions

Why was Jesus upset when He went into the temple?

What were the people doing that should have not been happening in a place of worship?

Why did Jesus curse the fig tree when it had leaves but no fruit?

How were the temple leaders like the fig tree?

What kind of "fruit" should grow in our lives when God changes our hearts?

Follow the Reformed Classroom

Parents, if you’re looking for more family Bible time ideas, activities, and encouragement, you can find The Reformed Classroom here:

📱 Facebook

📱 Instagram

📱 Blog

And don’t forget to follow this podcast on your favorite podcast platform so you’ll know when new episodes are released!

Disclaimer

The Reformed Classroom is not a church, and its creator is not acting as a pastor, counselor, or spiritual authority.
