The Drama Lab, originally founded as Australian Vietnamese Youth Media (AVYM) by Tony Le Nguyen in 1995, began at the Footscray Community Arts Centre in Melbourne, Australia. This social enterprise aimed to empower Vietnamese youth in Melbourne. Tony envisioned a space where both Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese youth could learn, share, create, and express themselves through mediums such as film, television, theatre, the Internet, and other creative platforms.

Today, The Drama Lab has expanded its scope, collaborating with the private and public sectors on diverse Arts-Education-Community initiatives. It addresses key issues related to human development, the environment, health, and culture. Maiv Hawj manages the day-to-day operation of The Drama Lab.

Through these initiatives, The Drama Lab fosters a wholesome and inclusive creative environment, providing participants with valuable and enriching experiences in the performing arts.
