    <description><![CDATA[<p>Being the black sheep in the South don’t always come with a warning.</p><p>It don’t announce itself loud or dramatic.</p><p>Sometimes it’s quiet… slow… something you grow into before you even realize what it is.</p><p>It’s sitting at family tables where your body is present,</p><p>but your spirit feels like it’s standing outside the door.</p><p>It’s learning early how to read tones instead of words,</p><p>how to notice the shift in energy when you walk into a room…</p><p>how to feel when love has conditions attached to it.</p><p></p><p>Growing up in the South, you’re taught respect before you’re taught expression.</p><p>Taught to “yes ma’am” and “no sir,”</p><p>to keep things in the family,</p><p>to stay quiet even when something inside you is screaming.</p><p></p><p>And I did that.</p><p>I stayed quiet.</p><p>I swallowed questions.</p><p>I buried feelings.</p><p>I carried confusion I didn’t have the language for yet.</p><p>Because how do you explain being different</p><p>in a place where different feels like disobedience?</p><p>Being the black sheep meant I was seen…</p><p>but not understood.</p><p>Heard…</p><p>but not listened to.</p><p>It meant I got corrected more than I got comforted.</p><p>Watched more than I was welcomed.</p><p>Judged for things I was still trying to figure out myself.</p><p>So I adapted.</p><p>I learned how to shrink without disappearing.</p><p>How to smile without feeling safe.</p><p>How to survive in spaces that never really held me.</p><p>There were nights I cried in silence,</p><p>not because I was weak—</p><p>but because I didn’t feel like I had permission to be anything else.</p><p>Moments I questioned myself,</p><p>wondering if maybe I was “too much”…</p><p>or somehow not enough at the same time.</p><p>That kind of pain don’t always leave bruises you can point to.</p><p>It shows up in how you love,</p><p>how you trust,</p><p>how you second-guess your own worth even when you’ve done nothing wrong.</p><p>But being the black sheep… it changes you.</p><p>It sharpens your awareness.</p><p>It deepens your empathy.</p><p>It teaches you how to stand alone without breaking,</p><p>because you’ve had to do it more times than people will ever know.</p><p>I learned how to see people clearly—</p><p>even when they couldn’t see me.</p><p>I learned how to build myself</p><p>without applause, without validation, without a safety net.</p><p>And somewhere along the way…</p><p>I stopped asking what was wrong with me.</p><p></p><p>And started realizing—</p><p>nothing was.</p><p></p><p>I wasn’t too much.</p><p>I wasn’t too different.</p><p>I wasn’t hard to love.</p><p>I was just placed in spaces</p><p>that didn’t know how to love me properly.</p><p>And that truth?</p><p>It set me free.</p><p>Because now I understand—</p><p>being the black sheep was never a weakness.</p><p>It was a calling.</p><p>It meant I was never meant to blend into cycles that needed to be broken.</p><p>Never meant to carry traditions that came with silence and pain.</p><p>Never meant to shrink just to make others comfortable.</p><p>Everything I went through growing up in the South—</p><p>every look, every whisper, every moment I felt out of place…</p><p>It didn’t destroy me.</p><p>It built a strength in me that don’t shake.</p><p>A voice in me that won’t stay quiet anymore.</p><p>A presence in me that don’t have to beg to be felt.</p><p></p><p>So yeah… I’m the black sheep.</p><p></p><p>But not because I was less than.</p><p></p><p>I’m the black sheep</p><p>because I chose to become something</p><p>that couldn’t be controlled, silenced, or broken.</p><p>And every piece of pain I carried?</p><p>It didn’t bury me.</p><p>It raised me.</p>]]></description>
