Where did the idea of god-kings come from? Before tyrants, priest-kings, or divine rulers appear in the ancient world, Scripture places a different figure at the center: the human entrusted with rule.

In this opening episode of Primeval Part 2 – The Burden of Rule, we examine Genesis 1 and 2 not as competing creation stories, but as vocation and formation—humanity created to rule, and the human appointed to learn how. Drawing on Second Temple Jewish sources and ancient Mesopotamian texts, we explore Adam as a figure clothed in glory, instructed in law, expected to teach, and whose failure reshaped the world others were born into.

This episode lays the foundation for understanding authority, responsibility, and why the loss of faithful rule shaped everything that followed.
