Healing from trauma requires understanding its profound impact on both mind and body. Licensed mental health clinician Alyssa reveals how trauma goes far beyond the conventional definition of near-death experiences or severe abuse. "Trauma can be anything that impedes your progress, anything that prevents you from functioning in the best possible way," she explains, helping listeners recognize how past experiences might be affecting their present lives.

Alyssa shares her personal journey through trauma healing after experiencing domestic violence and sexual abuse, navigating from substance use and depression to finding a comprehensive healing path that addressed mental, spiritual, and physiological aspects of her trauma.

What makes this episode particularly valuable is the exploration of various healing modalities. From evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and somatic work to alternative practices including sound healing, light therapy, and plant medicine, listeners gain insight into the multi-faceted nature of trauma recovery. Alyssa emphasizes that complete healing is possible with commitment and appropriate support: "You can change that, it's possible. If you do the work, you will be able to change how you feel and how you experience life."

Hello everyone and welcome to my season finale. This is the audio version of my first film production! I developed this idea a few months back that I wanted to create something special for my two year anniversary. I wanted to have a couple one on one interviews highlighting people's struggles and how they overcame them, kind of Oprah style interview. My first interview features Rashawn Campbell discussing his self-esteem struggles. And the second interview focuses on Jennifer Caron and her inspiring story overcoming the challenges of raising her youngest child with dandywalker disease. Below posted will be the actual link to the movie. I hope you guys enjoy!

What's up, everybody? I recorded this episode some months ago, just following the Oscars, and am now publishing it. My panel featured African American police officers who discussed particular issues from their perspectives. I hope you all enjoy part one; the episode's finale will be released towards the end of the month. In addition, I have determined that SPADE The Movie will be released in August. Finally, The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline released a new number! You will notice the change, it is now 988. Enjoy the Show!!

Good evening everyone and welcome to SPADE The Podcast! For the whole month of May, I decided to present a series of Facebook Lives on various mental health topics. Due to editing difficulties, I was unable to upload all of the Facebook Live episodes this month. But don't worry, the remaining episodes will be available in June. Certain episodes will be posted outside of the Facebook Live chronology. This was the last episode I recorded for the month, and we spoke about depression. I hope you enjoy part one!

Hello everyone and welcome to Spade The Podcast! For the month of May, I decided to host a Facebook live series with various guests covering various issues related to mental health awareness month. This episode I wanted to feature my bro Xavier and his brand new podcast called Kingdom Thoughts. His podcast's focus is turning pain into purpose from a Christian perspective, and I wanted to set up my facebook series on that note. It will be released in a few days, so please show your support! This episode will offer you a taste of what his podcast will be like. Enjoy, everyone!

Hello, subscribers, welcome to a brand new series I'm launching for the month called April's Angels. Anxiety and depression will be discussed in this 5-part series. I've seen throughout my social media that those two topics have been very heavy, especially now with the pandemic. I wanted to dedicate this whole month to discuss these topics and I have an electric panel that you will enjoy. Each week, I will release a new episode. I hope you all enjoy!

Good afternoon subscribers and listeners! This episode is part two of I'm a Survivor. Just in case you missed part one, check it out before you listen to part two. These last two episode was the first time that I cohosted with another podcaster. It was a pleasure to share the stage with Monica Makeda. Make sure you guys go support her brand and podcast. In addition, this episode is dedicated to all of my covid survivors out there. Covid19 is very serious and real. We must continue to be cautious, social distance, and wear your mask at all times. I hope these inspiring stories will give hope to those that are battling covid. I want to put this disclaimer out there. I read some statistics in regards to the vaccine towards the end of the episode and those stats reflect the timeframe when this episode was recorded. The episode was recorded on January 26,2021.

Welcome everyone to the conclusion of my season finale episode, I'm Not My Skin. This episode is based on the topic of colorism. I chose this topic for my season finale episode because this is a touchy subject among African Americans. Colorism may not be a topic that is a threat to society, but it is a threat to our community. The relentless comparison whether you are beautiful because of your skin color is a threat to our mental health. It's time for us to unite instead of dividing. The artist that I'm going to feature for part one and part two is Deejay Young. His song perfectly fits the theme of this episode. He is available on all music streaming platforms, please go support. Hope you guys enjoy this episode and see you guys in a few months.

On this episode I wanted to shed light on suicide awareness. According to the World Health Organization close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds. The highest suicide rates in the US are among Whites, American Indians and Alaska Natives. While African Americans rate are lower, they are steadily rising, especially within our younger generation. My panel will share their personal stories on how they overcame their struggles with suicidal thoughts. I hope you guys enjoy this episode. If you are dealing with suicidal thoughts please don't be afraid to talk with someone! The artist I'm featuring this week is my friend and a talented r&b singer Keeyen Martin. He's available on all music streaming services. Make sure you guys support him.

This special episode is dedicated to our fallen "king" Chadwick Boseman. May he rest in peace and prayers to his family and friends. I wanted to create this episode in light of many were feeling depressed because of so many events that have happened and the feeling that our race is being attacked. I wanted to make this episode as a voice of encouragement to everyone.

Welcome everyone to part one of my season finale episode, I'm Not My Skin.
