Episode 07 of the Sheffield's Hidden Gems podcast features an interview with two representatives of the charity 'Nomad Opening Doors'.

In this interview Steve Rundell (CEO) and Laura Baker (Fundraising and Communication Coordinator) talk about Nomad and share insights into the work of the charity in helping homeless people in Sheffield. Since founding over 30 years ago, Nomad has provided accommodation and much more to help people live more stable and secure lives in Sheffield.

Some mind-numbing facts:
-'Sofa surfing' is the hidden face of the homelessness crisis in the UK.
-In 2018, over 200,000 people in the UK had no place to call home. Instead, they were sleeping 'rough' (including on streets), on sofas of friends and relatives or in 'temporary' hotel accommodation. These adults didn't have a place to call 'home'.
-In Sheffield, Nomad provides over 16,500 nights of accommodation each year for 60 individuals who are homeless.

Through its lettings agency (Four Trees Lettings) Nomad works also with landlords and property investors interested in impact investing to manage their properties and in the process provide affordable co-living accommodation for their service users.

Listen to this episode of the Sheffield's Hidden Gems podcast as Steve Rundell and Laura Baker discuss how Nomad, the Sheffield-based charity, continues to be supported by people in Sheffield to make a difference in the lives of people adversely affected by hidden homelessness.
