<itunes:title>How to Print PDF Sewing Patterns: Check Both Sides of the Test Square</itunes:title>

Before printing your full PDF sewing pattern, check the labelled test square across its width and height. This first episode of Sewlore Sewing Notes explains how to select the correct paper format, review scale settings, and interpret unequal readings without treating print enlargement as a sizing method.

The worked example is illustrative: a 100 mm reference printed at 98 mm wide and 101 mm high has a -2% width error and a +1% height error. A single overall scale adjustment cannot correct both axes at once. Follow the printing instructions and any tolerance supplied with your own pattern, then print and measure a fresh test page.

Resources from Sewlore:

PDF sewing pattern printing and assembly: https://sewlore.com/pages/printing-assembly

PDF Pattern Print Scale Checker: https://sewlore.com/pages/pdf-pattern-print-scale-checker

Check both directions and troubleshoot unequal scaling: https://sewlore.com/blogs/sewing-journal/check-pdf-pattern-print-scale-both-directions

Narration disclosure: This episode uses a synthetic voice. The examples are explanations of measurement arithmetic, not physical printer-test results or a guarantee of garment fit.

Published by Sewlore. Read the instructions for your individual pattern before printing, assembly, or cutting fabric.
