We talk about the roots of organizing in SELA and how the community has a powerful history of resilience, speaking in detail about how Huntington park residents organized to denounce Police Chief Cosme Lozano for collaborating with ICE in 2019 in violation of California State Law, which lead to a federal lawsuit, a $74,000 settlement, & eventually a city ordinance in 2025, further barring the city government from collaborating with ICE. We also speak about the highly visible ICE raids in SELA, in the summer of 2025, when heavily latino neighborhoods were targeted, and how every day people all came together to denounce the violence and human rights abuses.
