Do you wonder about what goes on in the wide world of osteopathy practitioners’ ever-thinking fingers?

Greetings and welcome to the Osteo Axis Podcast. We explore the direction of osteopathy through conversations with students, practitioners, and leading voices worldwide.

My name’s Mau Netsah and I’m a British-French practitioner based in Mexico. I’ve practised and taught in many countries and been amazed by the differences in philosophy and technique! Integration and unifying models fascinate me and I feel like we sometimes forget that ‘we are on the same team’ - the team of helping the patient, hopefully)!

If you love osteopathy as much as I do, join me in fostering a greater sense of friendship, community, and understanding in our complex profession. We have some incredible guests lined up, from 0 to 50+ years experience, so I’m sure we’ll gain plenty of practical insights along the way... As well as expanding our perspectives on educational approaches, skill development and the living the Spirit of Osteopathy as a ‘way of life’ both inside and outside the treatment room!

If you'd like to be part of the conversation, please go to our website osteoaxis.com where you can share your reflections in the comments on each episode and submit questions for upcoming guests! Any feedback and support is also very welcome.

Enjoy, and... May Motion be with you!

Mau

In this intro episode, Mau outlines his vision for Osteo Axis as a platform to bridge global divides within the osteopathic profession. He critiques the profession's historical and ongoing divisiveness, includinging how different countries have developed distinct national styles of practice. Mau advocates for unifying conversation that respects these differences while focusing on the core purpose of osteopathy as a life-affirming practice rather than merely pain relief.

Drawing on his personal journey from being treated as an infant by Stuart Korth to finding mentorship under Professor Dr. Jean-Marie Buckles, Mau emphasizes the importance of person-centered care over practitioner-centered technique preferences. The episode serves as an invitation for practitioners worldwide to join a conversation that fosters friendship, unity, and community within the profession.

Chapters

00:00:00 Welcome to Osteo Axis and Podcast Vision

00:01:04 Historical Struggles and Professional Identity 00:02:06 Variations in National Osteopathic Styles

00:03:13 Questioning Osteopathy's Evolution and Impact

00:04:14 Overcoming Competitiveness and Ego in Practice

00:05:16 Fostering Unity Through Diverse Approaches

00:06:16 Platform Details and Education Critique

00:07:17 Defining the True Scope Beyond Back Pain

00:08:17 Prioritizing Life Direction Over Pain Management

00:09:19 Personal Healing and Spiritual Alignment

00:10:23 Bridging Techniques for Person-Centered Care

00:11:28 Closing Invitation and Future Interviews
