I lost $30,000 and counting in Pokémon cards… and the worst part is, I did it to myself. Starring Michael Johnston as Bear and Inde Navarrette as Nikki, Obsession takes a dark, twisted “be careful what you wish for” premise and turns it into a disturbing, funny, uncomfortable, and deeply effective horror movie about love, control, fantasy, and obsession. I was there for the original cards, the playground trades, the binders, the Game Boy games, and the first wave of Pokémania. I followed the hobby off and on over the years, but in 2017 I sold my original collection for basically pennies compared to what those cards are worth today.
