Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Michael Mosby.

Folks, buckle up. A powerful cold front is slamming through the state right now. And it's bringing wind that'll test every loose object you forgot to tie down.

Winds are already howling, northern New Mexico sees gusts to 40 miles an hour through mid-morning. Central areas? Peak around noon with 30 to 40 mile an hour gusts. The Sacramento Mountains? High Wind Warning until early afternoon — gusts could hit 60. That's strong enough to snap branches and knock out power.

Here's the dangerous part. Those winds are combining with humidity dropping to 5 to 10 percent this afternoon. Red Flag Warnings cover northern and central New Mexico, while any spark spreads fast. No outdoor burning today. Period.

Temperature-wise, it's a tale of two states, las Cruces hits 84 degrees before the front arrives. Albuquerque tops out near 65. But up north? Santa Fe only reaches 55, taos struggles to 51. That's the cold air pushing in.

As the sun sets. Tonight brings a hard freeze statewide, albuquerque drops to 32. Santa Fe falls to 24, northern mountains sink into the teens.

But here's the plot twist. Monday stays breezy and cooler — highs in the 50s and 60s. Then Tuesday, a massive dome of high pressure builds over the Southwest, while temperatures soar 24 degrees to 25 degrees above normal. We're talking 80s Tuesday, upper 80s Wednesday, low 90s by Thursday, some spots could see their earliest 90-degree day on record.

Stay off the roads if you can today, blowing dust will reduce visibility. Secure loose objects. And absolutely no outdoor burning.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>🚨 FIRE WEATHER WATCH - New Mexico Weather 3/14 - Evening</itunes:title>

Good evening. New Mexico. I'm Michael Mosby.

In Here's story today, a classic spring battle. Warm air is trying to hold on, but a powerful cold front is knocking on the door. The result? A wild ride from record highs this weekend to a hard freeze Sunday night.

Let's look at where we stand right now, central New Mexico is sitting at 48 degrees under mostly clear skies. It's breezy, with southwest winds around 15 miles an hour. If you head north to Santa Fe, it's cooler at 41 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Down south in Las Cruces, you're feeling the warmth at 51 degrees with mostly clear conditions.

As the sun sets. The main event arrives tonight, a cold front sweeps through, bringing a dramatic wind shift. Expect strong northwest winds to develop, gusting up to 40 miles an hour in Albuquerque. These winds will be even stronger in the mountains, with gusts potentially hitting 60 miles an hour above 7,500 feet. A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Sacramento Mountains from 3 A.M. Sunday through Sunday afternoon.

Folks, this wind combines with low humidity to create critical fire danger. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Capitan and Sacramento Mountains until 6 P.M. Sunday. Any spark could lead to rapid fire spread. Please be careful.

As the sun sets. Temperatures take a dive tonight behind the front, central New Mexico drops to 30 degrees by Sunday morning. Northern New Mexico will be even colder, falling to 22 degrees, while southern New Mexico sees a low around 39.

Sunday stays windy and cool, highs reach only 55 degrees in the north and 65 in Albuquerque. The south stays warmer at 83 degrees, while the big story is Sunday night. Most areas will see a hard freeze. Protect those sensitive plants!

Looking ahead, here's your heads-up for the week ahead, while we warm up fast. Highs climb back to the 70s on Monday, by Tuesday, we hit 82 degrees. The real heat arrives midweek. Here comes record-breaking warmth, with highs near 88 degrees Wednesday and 91 degrees Thursday. It stays sunny and dry through Saturday.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>New Mexico Weather 3/9 Morning - Red Flag Warning</itunes:title>

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside and you're greeted by 35 degrees statewide. Crisp. Clean. Classic early March. But here's where it gets interesting.

Sunshine dominates today, but we've got a temperature split you can drive through. Down in Las Cruces, you're pushing 79 degrees this afternoon. Head north to Santa Fe and Taos. And Here comes the mid-60s. Albuquerque splits the difference at 75 with light southwest winds. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me.

But tonight, the plot thickens. An upper-level low spinning off Baja California is headed our way. After midnight, moisture streams north into southern New Mexico. Rain showers develop, with thunderstorms rumbling through the southwest mountains between 3 A.M. and 7 A.M. Northern areas stay mostly dry until late.

Tuesday, the storm marches right statewide. Rain becomes likely statewide, especially midday through evening. Southern New Mexico takes the wettest punch — up to a quarter inch possible around Silver City and Truth or Consequences. Snow stays confined to peaks above 8,500 feet. Temperatures cool behind the system — low 60s south, mid-60s north. Winds gust to 25 miles an hour Tuesday night as the storm exits east.

Wednesday brings clearing skies and a rebound into the low to mid-70s. Then we shift into an extended warm, dry pattern. Thursday through Sunday, expect sunny skies with highs climbing from the mid-70s into the low 80s statewide. Breezy afternoons return, especially east of the mountains.

Spring equinox is just 11 days away. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day.

Enjoy the sunshine today — tomorrow's a different story.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>New Mexico Weather 3/8 Midday - Red Flag Warning</itunes:title>

Good afternoon. New Mexico. I'm Matt Mullins.

Step outside right now and you'll feel that crisp 51 degrees. We dipped to 31 overnight, but sunshine's taking over fast.

Albuquerque climbs to 69 this afternoon under clear skies. Light northwest breezes keep things comfortable. Santa Fe tops out near 62. Las Cruces pushes toward 73. The northern mountains stay cooler — low 60s — but still plenty pleasant for early March.

Tonight, temperatures crash. Albuquerque bottoms out at 32. Santa Fe hits 31. Las Cruces stays milder at 45. Clear skies mean that cold settles in fast after sunset.

Monday brings even more warmth. Albuquerque reaches 76 degrees — well above normal for this time of year. Santa Fe climbs to 67. Las Cruces hits 79. Mostly sunny skies dominate with just a few high clouds drifting through.

But Monday night, things shift. Clouds thicken as moisture creeps in from the west. Showers develop, especially across central New Mexico.

Tuesday's when it gets interesting. Rain spreads statewide, heaviest along and south of I-40. Albuquerque sees a 40 percent chance with a high of 68. Santa Fe jumps to 60 percent, topping out at 61. Las Cruces gets the wettest conditions — 80 percent chance with highs only reaching 63. Higher elevations could see a rain-snow mix, but accumulations stay light. Winds pick up too, gusting to 24 miles an hour in southern areas.

By Wednesday, sunshine returns. Temps rebound quickly — Albuquerque hits 72. Santa Fe reaches 64. Las Cruces climbs to 76. The warming trend continues through next weekend, with highs pushing into the low 80s by Friday and Saturday.

Enjoy the sunshine today while you've got it.

See you this evening.

      <itunes:title>New Mexico Weather 3/8 Morning - 31° Above Normal</itunes:title>

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside today and you'll feel temperatures that belong in May, not early March. We're talking record-breaking warmth under brilliant sunshine.

Las Cruces soars to 73 degrees. Albuquerque tops out near 69. Even the northern mountains get in on the action — Santa Fe hits 62 with northwest winds gusting to 15 miles an hour. This is the kind of warmth that makes you want to cancel all your plans and just sit outside.

But here's the serious part. While we're basking in this heat, critical fire weather conditions are building across the eastern plains. A Red Flag Warning kicks in at noon and runs until 8 P.M. For northeast and east central New Mexico. Gusty westerly winds, humidity dropping to single digits. And bone-dry vegetation create dangerous fire spread potential. Any spark could explode fast. If you're out there, be smart.

Tonight, clear skies and a sharp cooldown. Lows drop to the low 30s in Albuquerque, upper 20s in Santa Fe, mid-40s down south.

Monday cranks the heat even higher. Albuquerque climbs to 76 degrees — running 31 degrees above average. Southern New Mexico pushes near 80. Fire weather concerns continue with another round of gusty winds and low humidity.

Then everything changes. A Pacific storm rolls in Monday night, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms Tuesday. Rain focuses along and south of Interstate 40. The higher peaks could see a few inches of snow, but rain will be the main story. Wednesday cools off and gets breezy — temperatures drop 31 degrees. Then we warm right back up. Thursday through Saturday look sunny and mild, with highs climbing back into the 70s and low 80s.

One more thing — spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>New Mexico Weather 3/7 Evening - 30° Above Normal</itunes:title>

Good evening. New Mexico. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside this morning. And you’ll feel that crisp bite in the air. But don't let it fool you—this weekend is a tale of two seasons. We’ve got a spring preview in the forecast, with temperatures climbing 30 degrees above normal. But first, a chilly start: Albuquerque woke up to 31 degrees. And the northern mountains dipped into the 20s. That’s winter still holding on. For now.

Albuquerque and Santa Fe, you’re in for a rollercoaster. Today’s high soars to 71 degrees—that's 30 degrees above average for early March. Light northwest winds keep things pleasant. Tonight, we drop back to 36 degrees, but Sunday brings even more warmth: 76 degrees under sunny skies. By Monday, we’re flirting with 80 degrees in some spots. That’s right—spring is knocking early.

Up north, it’s a cooler but still unseasonably warm story. Taos and Santa Fe start in the 30s this morning, but by afternoon, you’ll hit 61 degrees—about 30 degrees warmer than usual. Winds pick up out of the northwest at 10 to 15 miles an hour, so it’ll feel breezy. Tonight, lows dip to 36 degrees, but Sunday’s high jumps to 67 degrees. Not bad for March! Just watch for gusty winds near 20 miles an hour in exposed areas.

Down south, you’re winning the warmth lottery. Las Cruces and Alamogordo start in the upper 30s to low 40s this morning, but by afternoon, you’re basking in 72 degrees. That’s near-record warmth for early March. Light east winds keep things comfortable today. Tonight, lows stay mild in the mid-40s. And Sunday? You’re looking at 78 degrees in Las Cruces. Yes, you read that right—summer-like heat in March.

Here’s the catch—all this warmth and wind comes with a cost. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for northeast and east-central New Mexico from noon to 8 PM Sunday. Winds could gust to 40 miles an hour. And humidity will plummet into the single digits. That’s a recipe for rapid fire spread. Outdoor burning? Not today. Even a spark could turn ugly fast.

The dry spell breaks Monday night into Tuesday. A storm system sweeps in, bringing scattered rain showers—even a few thunderstorms—mainly south of I-40. Expect 0.10 to 30 degrees.25 inches of rain, with higher amounts in the mountains. High terrain could see a dusting of snow above 7,500 feet, but it won’t stick around long. Winds shift to the west at 15 to 25 miles an hour, so Tuesday will feel cooler, with highs dropping back to the 60s and low 70s.

Warmth peaks Monday with 80 degrees in the south and upper 70s in Albuquerque. Tuesday brings cooler temperatures and rain chances, with highs dropping to the 60s and low 70s. Wednesday dries out as highs rebound to the mid-70s statewide. Then Thursday and Friday, the heat comes roaring back—80s return to southern New Mexico, with upper 70s in Albuquerque. Fire danger climbs again, so another Red Flag Watch is likely by Friday.

So there you've it—March in New Mexico, where winter and summer share the same weekend. Enjoy the warmth, but stay sharp: fire danger is no joke with these winds. And keep an eye on those rain chances Tuesday—we could use the moisture.

See you tomorrow.

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside this morning and you'll feel that crisp March bite. We're waking up to 42 degrees under clear skies, after a low that dipped to 30 overnight. But don't let that chill fool you—today's sunshine is just the warm-up act.

Central New Mexico takes center stage with highs hitting 61 degrees under sunny skies. It's perfect weather for that hike you've been putting off. Winds stay light from the southeast, making it feel even nicer. Tonight, look for a quick cooldown down to 31 degrees.

Up north, it's a different story. Taos and Santa Fe hover in the low 50s, with gusts hitting 15 miles an hour. That brisk breeze reminds you winter isn't quite done yet. Overnight, temps plummet to 30 degrees, so Dress warmly if you're headed to the ski slopes.

Down south. Las Cruces and Truth or Consequences are living up to their names at 69 degrees. Winds shift from east to southeast by late morning, but it's all blue skies. Tonight, lows drop to a mild 39 degrees—ideal for stargazing.

In Here's headline, a Fire Weather Watch kicks in Sunday from noon to 9 PM for the Northeast Highlands and Eastern Plains. Gusts could reach 45 miles an hour, with humidity dipping into the single digits. Any spark could turn ugly fast, so hold off on outdoor burning.

Sunday brings a statewide warm-up, with Albuquerque jumping to 71 degrees. But Monday night, a Pacific low sweeps in, bringing scattered rain showers and even high-elevation snow above 8,000 feet. Tuesday is our wild card with thunderstorms possible in the north. Then we rebound fast—by Wednesday, sunshine returns and we're back in the mid 70s statewide.

In Classic new mexico, sunshine and fire warnings in the same breath. Stay fire smart out there.

See you tomorrow.

See you this afternoon.

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Folks, eastern New Mexico is about to get slammed by some serious wind today. Let me paint the picture.

A Pacific cold front is racing statewide right now. Temperatures drop about 24 degrees from yesterday, but that's not the headline. The headline is wind — southwest gusts hitting 50 to 55 miles an hour across the eastern plains and highlands by late morning. That's the kind of wind that'll rearrange your patio furniture and send your trash cans on a cross-county road trip.

Here's the serious part. Humidity's dropping to single digits, which means any spark becomes a wildfire in seconds. Red Flag Warnings are up from 10 A.M. To 6 P.M. For the northeast and east central areas. No outdoor burning today. Not even a little one.

Up north near Colorado, you're seeing something completely different — rain and snow showers this morning along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Tusas Mountains could pick up a few inches above 9000 feet. Roads will be slick, so take it slow up there.

Now the regional breakdown. Central New Mexico tops out at 59 degrees with that brisk west wind at 10 to 15 miles an hour. Tonight drops to 25. Northern New Mexico hits 50 degrees, but those winds gust to 35 through the afternoon. You'll feel every bit of it. Tonight falls to 24. Southern New Mexico gets the warmest day at 66 degrees under sunny skies. Tonight settles to 38.

Looking ahead — Saturday cools down to low 50s north, near 70 south, with lighter winds. Sunday warms nicely into the 60s and low 70s. Then Monday and Tuesday, moisture returns from the south. Best rain chances south of I-40, with isolated thunderstorms possible. The mountains stay dry.

Secure anything loose outside today. Seriously.

See you tomorrow.

<itunes:title>New Mexico Weather March 5 Midday - Red Flag Warning</itunes:title>

Good afternoon. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Alright folks, cover your coffee. The wind is absolutely howling across New Mexico today. And it's bringing serious fire danger with it.

In the next 24 hours. Step outside right now and those southwest gusts are already whipping dust into the air. This afternoon, sustained winds hit 15 to 20 miles an hour statewide, but the real kickers are those gusts — we're talking 40 to 50 miles an hour in exposed areas. That's strong enough to yank trash cans down the street and make highway driving feel like a wrestling match.

Down in Albuquerque, you're climbing to 72 degrees with patchy blowing dust before 5 P.M. Tonight cools to 35 under mostly clear skies. Head south toward Las Cruces and you hit the warm spot — 76 degrees today. Up north around Taos and the mountains, highs only reach the low 60s. And those winds aren't letting up.

Here's the critical part. Red Flag Warnings are active until 7 P.M. Tonight for the Sacramento and Capitan Mountains. Humidity drops to single digits. Winds gust to 45. Any spark becomes a wildfire in minutes. Don't burn anything outdoors today.

Friday cranks the wind even higher — gusts to 50 miles an hour across eastern New Mexico as a Pacific cold front rolls through. Temperatures drop 26 degrees to 26 degrees. Albuquerque struggles to 60. Northern mountains barely crack the upper 40s.

The weekend brings a backdoor cold front Saturday with gusty east winds, then a warming trend Sunday into early next week. Rain chances return Monday and Tuesday, mainly south of I-40, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Mountains could pick up a few inches of snow.

Secure anything loose outside today. The wind's not asking permission.

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Thirty-six degrees right now, but grab your sunglasses instead of that heavy jacket. We're about to swing 40 degrees warmer by afternoon.

In the next 24 hours. Southern New Mexico hits 77 degrees today. That's shorts weather in early March. Central areas climb to 72. Push north and you'll top out at 62. All of that runs 26 degrees to 26 degrees above normal.

Here's the catch. South winds gust to 24 miles an hour down south, 20 miles an hour in central areas. Between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M., expect patchy blowing dust near open fields. That wind's going to rearrange anything you left in the yard.

Now the serious part. A Red Flag Warning runs from 11 A.M. To 7 P.M. Across eastern New Mexico. Humidity drops to single digits. One spark becomes a wildfire in these conditions. No outdoor burning today. Period.

Tonight you get a full moon under mostly clear skies. Lows settle at 42 degrees in the south, 37 central, 33 up north.

Friday brings the reality check. A Pacific cold front sweeps through and drops the hammer. Central New Mexico falls to 58 degrees. Northern areas barely crack 47. Winds stay gusty in the east where another fire weather day is expected.

The weekend calms down with highs rebounding to the 60s and 70s. By Monday, a slight chance of rain showers returns. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox is just two weeks away.

If you're outdoors today, keep an eye on that wind. Fire danger is real.

Good evening. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside right now and you'll feel it. 56 degrees under a clear sky. A gorgeous morning across the Land of Enchantment. Tonight, look up — that full moon will have the stage all to itself.

In the next 24 hours. But enjoy the calm. Tomorrow brings our headline.

An upper-level storm system drops into the Four Corners. Winds crank up across the state. Central New Mexico climbs to 74 degrees under sunny skies. But between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M., patchy blowing dust sweeps through. South winds gust to 20 miles an hour.

Head north and the story shifts. Northern New Mexico tops out around 61 degrees tomorrow. South winds gust to 20 miles an hour by early afternoon. Sunny skies, but those winds will be noticeable.

Down south, it's the warmest spot. Southern New Mexico hits 77 degrees. That's running about 28 degrees above normal for early March. But with that warmth comes blowing dust between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M. Gusts could hit 32 miles an hour.

Here's the critical part. A Red Flag Warning takes effect Thursday from 11 A.M. To 7 P.M. For the Sacramento Mountains. Humidity crashes to 10 to 15 percent. Southwest winds gust 45 to 50 miles an hour. Any fire that starts will spread rapidly. No outdoor burning.

Friday brings a sharp cool-down. Central New Mexico drops to 61 degrees. Northern areas fall to 50 degrees with west winds gusting to 40 miles an hour. Southern New Mexico cools to 68 degrees.

The weekend looks pleasant with highs in the 60s. Then early next week, rain chances return — especially Monday and Tuesday across the southern half of the state.

Spring equinox is just two weeks away. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day right now.

In Tonight's lows, central areas drop to 37 degrees. Northern New Mexico dips to 36. Southern New Mexico settles at 45.

Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside right now and you'll feel it. That crisp 38-degree morning air under a crystal-clear sky. But don't let that chill fool you. Today is going to be absolutely gorgeous.

In the next 24 hours. We're looking at sunny skies statewide with temperatures running 27 degrees to 27 degrees above normal for early March. Southern New Mexico leads the warmth with a high of 78 degrees. Central areas climb to 71. Northern New Mexico tops out at 63 degrees with a bit more breeze.

Light winds today. Just 5 to 10 miles an hour. Perfect weather for getting outside. Sunrise was at 6:33 this morning. Sunset comes at 6:05 this evening. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now.

Tonight stays mild with partly cloudy skies. Lows dip to 35 in the north, 38 central. And 45 down south. And look up after dark. Tonight's full moon should be spectacular.

But enjoy today's calm. Thursday tells a different story.

Southwest winds crank up to 20 miles an hour with gusts pushing 35 to 45. Patchy blowing dust develops between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for eastern New Mexico. Humidity drops into the single digits. Any fire that starts will spread rapidly.

Friday brings a sharp cool-down. Highs tumble to 48 in the north, 58 central, 68 south. Still breezy with gusts to 35 miles an hour. Then the weekend looks more seasonable with highs in the 60s. Rain chances return Monday.

Spring is just two weeks away. And today feels like a preview.

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.

February is bowing out like it owns the place. A massive ridge of high pressure is parked over the Southwest, compressing air as it sinks and cranking up the heat like someone cranked the thermostat to max. We're not talking pleasant spring warmth. We're talking record-threatening heat for late February.

In the next 24 hours. Down south, you're waking up to 48 degrees. By mid-afternoon? 82. That ties the all-time February record for some spots. Central New Mexico starts at 41 and climbs to 77. Even up north, where you bottomed out at 41 this morning, you hit 68 this afternoon. Northwest winds gust to 15 miles an hour in the northern mountains, but stay light elsewhere.

Tonight stays mild statewide. Lows drop to 43 degrees central, 42 up north, 48 down south. Clear skies hold.

Sunday is when things get wild. Southern New Mexico could touch 87 degrees. Central areas hit 82. Northern regions reach 70. Albuquerque has a real shot at 80 degrees, which would obliterate the daily record of 74.

For the week. Monday stays scorching at 82 before a weak cold front tries sneaking in from the northeast. Tuesday cools slightly to the low 70s with breezy west winds. Then the fire danger story takes over. Humidity crashes into single digits Sunday and Monday across southern lowlands. Add increasing winds Tuesday through Thursday. and we're looking at critical fire weather conditions midweek. Late week gets murky as a closed low may develop over the Southwest, possibly bringing moisture back.

Enjoy the warmth today, but Sunday brings dangerous fire conditions. Stay alert.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.

Step outside right now and that 49 degrees feels crisp. Almost cold. But hold on.. Because we're about to jump 36 degrees by this afternoon.

Central New Mexico climbs to 75 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Those winds pick up around midday, gusting to 20 miles an hour by 2 P.M. Tonight we settle back to 40 degrees under clear skies.

Push north and the story shifts. Northern New Mexico tops out at 66 degrees with that north wind blowing steady at 10 to 20 miles an hour. If you were out early, you felt those wind chills near 31 degrees. Tonight drops to 37 degrees.

Now the desert down south? That's where the real warmth lives. Southern New Mexico hits 81 degrees this afternoon with sunshine and light winds. Tonight's low sits at 50 degrees.

Here's where it gets interesting. Temperatures keep climbing straight through the weekend. Sunday could bring record highs across the state. Central areas approach 82 degrees. Southern New Mexico may touch 86. That's mid-May warmth showing up three months early.

Early next week brings a pattern shift. A slight chance of rain showers returns Tuesday, mainly up north. Temperatures back off into the upper 60s and low 70s.

One more thing. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 6:41 A.M., sunset at 6:00 P.M. The spring equinox sits just three weeks away. UV index peaks at 6 today, so grab the sunglasses if you're heading out this afternoon.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th.

Step outside right now and that 48 degrees feels almost chilly.. But don't get too comfortable. We're about to shatter records across the state. We're talking 36 degrees to 36 degrees above normal for late February. This is the kind of warmth that makes you question your calendar.

Central New Mexico wakes up at 43 degrees around 6 A.M. By 2 P.M.? You're hitting 76. That's a 33-degree climb in eight hours. Winds shift from northeast to east around 5 A.M., gusting to 20 miles an hour by afternoon. Tonight stays mostly clear with a low around 45.

Push north and the story gets interesting. Northern New Mexico bottoms out at 41 degrees around 6 A.M. Feels like 33 at that hour, so grab that jacket for the morning commute. By 3 P.M. you're at 67 degrees. Here's the kicker.. Winds shift from north to northwest around 10 A.M. And they mean business. A Wind Advisory runs from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. for the Central Highlands and southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Gusts could slam 55 miles an hour. Secure anything loose in your yard.

Down south is where things get serious. Low of 47 around 6 A.M., rocketing to 82 degrees by 3 P.M. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. for Chaves County. Humidity crashes to 10 percent. Any spark becomes a wildfire in minutes. No outdoor burning today.

This heat wave holds through the weekend. Sunday pushes 80 degrees. A pattern shift arrives early next week with possible rain by Tuesday.

We're gaining two minutes of daylight daily now. Spring equinox is three weeks out. Sunrise at 6:42 A.M., sunset at 36 degrees:59 P.M.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.

Step outside right now and you'll feel something strange.. Air so dry it crackles. Humidity's plunging below 15 percent today, winds are gusting to 45 miles an hour. And Red Flag Warnings are up across eastern New Mexico. One spark. That's all it takes. No outdoor burning today, folks.

Now here's where it gets interesting. New Mexico is splitting into three different days.

Down south, you're waking up to 36 degrees around 6 A.M., but watch what happens. By 2 P.M., you're soaring to 77 degrees. Winds shift from east-southeast to south around 8 A.M. Tomorrow brings patchy blowing dust between 11 A.M. And 5 P.M.. And you hit 81 degrees with northwest gusts to 21 miles an hour. Tonight drops to a mild 45 degrees.

Central New Mexico starts at 32 degrees around 5 A.M. By 3 P.M., you're at 72 degrees.. Nearly 32 degrees warmer than yesterday. Winds shift from southeast to southwest around 10 A.M., gusting to 15 miles an hour. Tonight falls to 39 degrees. Wednesday warms even more — 75 degrees — with northwest winds kicking up to 20 miles an hour.

Up north, you're in a different world. You wake up to 34 degrees around 5 A.M., but it feels like 26 with that northeast breeze. Highs only reach 63 degrees today, with north winds howling at 10 to 20 miles an hour. Tonight dips to 39 degrees. Wednesday warms slightly to 66 degrees, but those winds stick around.

The week ahead? Record-breaking warmth. Albuquerque could hit 80 degrees by Sunday.. The earliest 80-degree day on record by over a week. Southern New Mexico flirts with 85 degrees this weekend. But models hint at a pattern shift early next week. A cold front might sweep in with cooler temps and rain.

Stay alert. Avoid outdoor flames. And enjoy that extra two minutes of daylight we're gaining each day.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd.

Step outside right now and you'll feel 28 degrees biting at your face. But here's the plot twist.. By Wednesday, we're flirting with 81 degrees in the south. That's not a typo. That's February in New Mexico.

Let's start up north. You're waking up to 28 degrees around 5 A.M., but that north wind makes it feel like 20. Dress warmly for the morning commute. By 3 P.M., you'll hit 58 degrees — pleasant, but keep the jacket handy. Tonight drops to 33 degrees under mostly clear skies.

Central New Mexico, you're starting at 30 degrees around 6 A.M. Then sunshine takes over and pushes you to 65 degrees this afternoon. Winds stay light until they shift south around 5 P.M. Tonight, you'll settle at 33 degrees.

Southern New Mexico? You're the star today. A low of 33 degrees at 6 A.M. — feeling like 28 — then you rocket to 66 degrees by 4 P.M. Winds flip from north to south around 11 A.M. Tonight, you only drop to 38 degrees. Practically balmy.

Now here's what demands your attention. Fire Weather Watches go up tomorrow for the northeast plains, central highlands. And east-central regions. We're talking gusts to 50 miles an hour, humidity in the single digits. And bone-dry fuels. Any spark could explode. Don't burn anything outdoors. This is one of the most dangerous fire weather setups we've seen in months.

The week ahead? Southern New Mexico hits 78 degrees Tuesday, then 81 degrees Wednesday — near record territory. Central climbs to 75. Northern regions warm to 66. The heat sticks through the weekend, with 70s and 80s statewide. Yes, 80s in February.

Today's chill is just a tease. The real story is midweek warmth that'll have you reaching for sunscreen, not snow boots.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. Step outside right now and you'll feel 26 degrees. But here's the thing, folks — that chill won't last. We're about to flip the script on winter in a way that'll have you checking your calendar twice.

Albuquerque starts at 25 degrees this morning, feeling more like 19. By 4 P.M.? You hit 59. That's a 34-degree swing in twelve hours. Winds shift from north to south around 1 P.M.. And suddenly it's like someone opened the oven door. Tonight drops to 30, but Monday climbs to 66 degrees.

Head up to Santa Fe and you're looking at 24 this morning, feeling like 18. By 2 P.M., you reach 51. Still brisk, but that's a massive jump from this morning's freeze. Tonight cools to 26, then Monday rebounds to 59.

Now down in Las Cruces, you're starting at 33, feeling like 27. By 2 P.M., you soar to 62 degrees. Winds gust to 22 miles an hour, adding a little drama. Tonight settles at 32, but Monday? Sixty-seven degrees. Nearly 70 in late February.

For the week. Tuesday brings 74 in Albuquerque, 62 in Santa Fe, 78 in Las Cruces. Wednesday? Even warmer — 77, 65. And 81 degrees. That's 20 degrees above normal. But there's a catch: fire weather. Critical conditions develop midweek with winds gusting 45 miles an hour and humidity in single digits. If you're in the northeast plains, stay alert.

One quick thing. If this forecast helps you plan your Sunday, share it with a friend who could use the heads up.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th.

Folks, step outside right now and the Land of Enchantment feels like three different planets. Northern New Mexico? A sharp 17 degrees with north winds at 15 miles an hour. That's the kind of cold that makes your nostrils stick together. Drive south to the central valleys and you're at 24 degrees. Keep rolling into Southern New Mexico and it's a downright balmy 31 degrees.

Here's the deal. Sunrise hit at 6:32 this morning, and we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day now. You can feel winter loosening its grip. Air quality sits at moderate today, so if your lungs are sensitive, you'll want to take it easy.

Now here's what's coming your way this afternoon. Northern New Mexico barely cracks the low 20s. Bundle up like you mean it. Central New Mexico warms to the mid 30s by afternoon. Southern New Mexico pushes into the low 40s. Perfect Saturday stroll weather if you ask me.

Tonight, clear skies and calm winds let the heat escape fast. Northern New Mexico drops to around 10 degrees. Your phone might quit before you do. Central New Mexico settles into the upper teens. Southern New Mexico lands in the mid 20s.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Sunshine dominates through early next week. Northern New Mexico stays stubborn, with highs barely touching freezing. Central and Southern New Mexico get a nice warm up though. Mid 40s by Tuesday. No storms lurking. Just clean, dry, classic winter weather.

Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going.

Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
