Good morning. Montana. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside and you'll feel it. Two degrees. That bite in the air that makes your nose hairs freeze instantly. We picked up eight-tenths of an inch of snow overnight, but here's the twist — this Arctic grip is about to crack wide open.

Central Montana takes the prize for coldest spot, minus 11 degrees this morning. Wind chills scraping minus -5 degrees around midday. Eastern Montana woke up to 11 degrees, feeling like -5 degrees early on. Western Montana? Practically balmy at 16 degrees.

Today stays quiet but cold, highs climb to 27 degrees across Eastern and Central Montana. Western Montana pushes near 39 degrees, mostly sunny skies statewide, with just a few passing clouds.

As the sun sets. Tonight, the script flips, lows drop to 14 degrees in the east, 15 degrees central. And 28 degrees out west, but clouds thicken after sunset. Western Montana sees snow developing after 9 P.M., mountains could pick up half an inch.

Monday's where it gets wild, highs jump to 45 degrees in the east, 48 degrees central. And 50 degrees out west, with that's a 20-plus degree swing from today. Mixed precipitation arrives — rain and snow statewide, especially in the mountains. Winds pick up too, with gusts to 33 miles an hour in Central Montana.

Looking ahead. Looking at the week ahead. Tuesday through Saturday brings a remarkable warm-up, while highs soar into the 60s and 70s statewide. We're talking 15 degrees above normal for mid-March, with wednesday hits 72 degrees in the east. Thursday could touch 75 degrees, friday and Saturday stay in the mid to upper 70s.

The catch? Strong winds return Monday night through Tuesday, high wind watches are posted for much of North Central Montana. Gusts could hit 60 miles an hour in the foothills.

Charge your phone before heading out, while this cold drains batteries fast.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>🚨 BLIZZARD WARNING - Montana Weather 3/14 - Evening</itunes:title>

Good evening. Montana. I'm Michael Mosby.

We woke up to a fresh coating of powder statewide. About 2 inches fell in the last 24 hours, sitting on top of an 8-inch base. Step outside right now and you'll feel the bite immediately—temperatures are hovering in the teens.

But the wind is the real story today. A cold front is sweeping through, triggering Blizzard warnings for Cascade County and the Rocky Mountain Front through this evening. Travel will be treacherous with whiteout conditions.

As the sun sets. Snow showers continue statewide tonight. The heaviest stuff falls before midnight, dropping another inch or two in most valleys. The mountains could see locally higher amounts, overnight lows are brutal. Central Montana bottoms out at 1 degrees above zero. That's dangerously cold. Western Montana hits 16, while the east is slightly milder at 12.

Wind chills will make it feel like minus 4 in Great Falls. If you're heading out, cover every inch of skin—frostbite doesn't ask permission.

Sunday brings a break, skies gradually clear, but the cold hangs on. Highs range from 28 degrees in Billings to 40 near Missoula.

Here comes a massive temperature swing, monday starts with a chance of snow showers, then the floodgates open. Highs climb to 48 degrees on Monday, by Tuesday, we hit 60. Wednesday and Thursday feel like spring. We're talking 73 degrees in Great Falls on Thursday—nearly 25 degrees above normal. That warmth sticks around through Friday and Saturday with highs in the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.

As the sun sets. If your pipes survive tonight, buy them a thank you card. We'll be back with your next forecast evening.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>Montana Weather 3/9 Morning - High Wind Warning</itunes:title>

Good morning. Montana. I'm Michael Mosby.

Yesterday you hit 63 degrees. This morning? Try 30. That's a 40-degree nosedive courtesy of a cold front that swept through like it had somewhere to be.

Snow showers are tracking west to east across northern Montana right now. Eastern Montana woke up to mixed precipitation — that'll peak around 11 A.M., then taper off. Out west, the heaviest snow hits this afternoon around 3 P.M. Central Montana saw a quick burst around 7 A.M., but you're already clearing out.

Most valleys pick up an inch or less today. The mountains? Several inches, especially along the Continental Divide.

Down in Billings, you'll hit 47 degrees with rain and snow showers on and off all day. Tonight drops to 29 with lingering flurries.

Over in Missoula, expect 41 degrees with a coin flip on light snow. West winds gust to 29 miles an hour — enough to rattle your fence. Tonight falls to 23.

Great Falls reaches 42 under mostly sunny skies after early snow clears. But here's the kicker — winds gust to 47 miles an hour this afternoon. The strongest in the state. Tonight plunges to 18.

Tuesday brings another round of snow, especially for the mountains and southern foothills. Highs range from mid-30s to low 40s.

Wednesday warms into the 40s and low 50s as winds ramp up again. Thursday's the big story — potentially damaging winds with gusts hitting 60 miles an hour or higher across the plains. Highs reach the 50s and low 60s before a cold front crashes in.

Friday through the weekend turns active and much colder. Heavy mountain snow is likely, with accumulating snow spreading across the plains by Saturday. Highs drop from the 40s Friday to the 30s Saturday and 20s to 30s Sunday.

Enjoy the quiet today. Thursday's bringing a beast.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>Montana Weather 3/8 Midday - High Wind Warning</itunes:title>

Good afternoon. Montana. I'm Matt Mullins.

Folks, this isn't a gentle Sunday breeze. This is wind that means business.

Central Montana is getting absolutely pummeled right now. West winds screaming at 40 to 49 miles an hour, gusting to 74. That's strong enough to snap branches and send trash cans into orbit. Blowing dust is cutting visibility to near zero in spots. High Wind Warnings stay up through midnight. If it's not tied down, it's gone.

Eastern Montana? You've got partly sunny skies and a pleasant 69 degrees, but don't let that fool you. West winds are howling at 26 to 31 miles an hour with 45 mile an hour gusts. Over in Western Montana, mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain after 11 A.M. Highs reach 54 degrees as southwest winds gust to 35.

Now here's the plot twist. A cold front barrels in from the north tonight, flipping the script completely. Central Montana crashes to 28 degrees with rain and snow mixing in. Eastern Montana cools to 32 under partly cloudy skies. Western Montana drops to 31 as rain transitions to snow after 4 A.M.

Monday brings snow showers statewide. Western Montana takes the brunt — 70 percent chance with accumulations under half an inch. Eastern Montana sees mixed rain and snow. Central Montana clears faster, reaching 47 degrees.

The week ahead? Tuesday brings another snow round. Wednesday offers a brief break. But Thursday? Another wind event brewing, potentially stronger than today. Rain and snow return Thursday night through Saturday.

One more thing — spring forward tonight. Set those clocks ahead one hour before bed.

!

See you this evening.

      <itunes:title>Montana Weather 3/8 Morning - 20° Above Normal</itunes:title>

Good morning. Montana. I'm Michael Nally.

Folks, today isn't a day to test your luck. We're talking dangerous, destructive winds across the entire state. High Wind Warnings are up everywhere. And this is the real deal.

Livingston already clocked 70 miles an hour overnight. The Rocky Mountain Front? Gusts could hit 100 miles an hour this afternoon — that's hurricane force. Central Montana sees gusts to 75. Even out east, where it's calmer, you're still looking at 35 to 50 mile an hour blasts. If you're towing a trailer or driving an RV, stay put. This wind will flip you.

Here's the temperature split. Eastern Montana hits 70 degrees this afternoon — nearly 20 degrees above normal for early March. Central Montana reaches 63. Western Montana? Only 54, with rain moving in after 11 A.M. That warmth won't last. A cold front drops south tonight, bringing a sharp cooldown and scattered rain and snow showers.

Tonight, the wind eases after the front passes. Lows fall to the low 30s statewide. Eastern Montana could see a brief mix of rain and snow around 10 P.M. Western Montana gets steadier rain through 4 A.M., then transitions to snow. Central Montana? Rain and snow after 10 P.M., with the heaviest snow around midnight.

Monday brings more snow. Rain and snow showers are likely, especially in Eastern and Western Montana. Highs drop to the 40s and 50s. Snow continues Monday night, with accumulations under an inch for most valleys, but the mountains could see several inches.

Looking ahead. Tuesday brings another chance for snow. Wednesday looks quieter. But Thursday? Another strong wind event is shaping up — possibly even stronger than today.

Secure loose outdoor items now. Avoid causing sparks — fire danger is elevated with these winds. And don't forget to spring forward tonight — clocks move ahead one hour.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>Montana Weather 3/7 Evening - Wind Whiplash Warning</itunes:title>

Good evening. Montana. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside this morning and you’ll feel it—spring is teasing us. We’re waking up to 46 degrees under clear skies. And with sunrise at 6:51 A.M., we’re gaining daylight fast. But don't put away the winter gear yet. This weekend is a tale of two Montanas: one side basking in near-record warmth, the other bracing for wind that could knock you off your feet.

If you’re in Billings or Miles City today, you’re living the dream. Highs soar to 69 degrees—that’s 15 degrees above normal. But those southwest winds will howl at 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts to 43. Tonight, temps stay mild, dipping only to 35 degrees. But by Monday, reality checks in. A cold front drops highs to 50 degrees, bringing a chance of rain and snow showers by Monday night.

Head west to Great Falls. And you’ll find the real drama. A High Wind Warning is in effect, with gusts 60 to 75 miles an hour—strong enough to flip a trash can. Highs hit 60 degrees, but areas of blowing dust could drop visibility fast. Tonight, lows plummet to 29 degrees. By Monday, the script flips: highs struggle to 44 degrees with a slight chance of snow. If you’re traveling I-15, buckle up—crosswinds will make driving a white-knuckle affair.

Over in Missoula and Kalispell, today starts mild near 55 degrees, but the story changes fast. A Wind Advisory kicks in Sunday morning, with gusts to 35 miles an hour in the valleys. The West Glacier region faces gusts up to 70 miles an hour overnight. Rain moves in Sunday afternoon, turning to snow by Monday as highs drop to 42 degrees. By Tuesday, winter flexes its muscles, with highs barely reaching 37 degrees.

Here's the rollercoaster ride for the week ahead. Sunday brings the warmest air, but winds gusting to 75 miles an hour in the mountains steal the show. Monday, a cold front crashes the party—dropping temps 20 degrees in 24 hours and bringing rain and snow showers statewide. Tuesday through Wednesday, winter returns with highs in the 30s and snow likely sticking around. Thursday hints at another wind event, while Friday stays cooler and unsettled.

Secure those loose patio furniture today. You don't want to chase that down the street tomorrow.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>Montana Weather 3/7 Morning - Sunshine & Sudden Shivers</itunes:title>

Good morning. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Spring is technically just 13 days away, but someone forgot to tell the atmosphere. Here comes a serious temperature divide today—like the state can't decide if it wants to be May or January.

Out East, you're stepping into summer. Highs near 60 degrees—that's a solid 21 degrees above normal. But here's the catch: that west wind hits 20 to 24 miles an hour. Around 10 A.M., it's going to feel like 34 degrees. The warmth holds tonight under clear skies, with a low of 41. Tomorrow gets even wilder—highs flirt with 71 before a cold front crashes the party Sunday night.

Central Montana follows that same script today. You hit 60 degrees under mostly sunny skies. But watch out for gusts hitting 41 miles an hour. That kind of wind stirs up dust and makes holding onto your steering wheel a workout. Tonight stays mild at 47 degrees. Sunday brings one more warm run near 63, but that cold front arrives Sunday evening, swapping rain for snow by Monday.

Western Montana is the odd one out. Rain showers linger this morning with highs struggling to hit 51. A slight chance of rain sticks around tonight. Then Sunday brings that cold front, dropping you to 32 degrees by nightfall as rain turns to snow. By Monday, the snow sticks around with highs barely scraping 42.

The big story is the Sunday night swing. Eastern Montana goes from 71 degrees Sunday to 49 on Monday—a 22-degree drop. The mountains see light snow, less than half an inch, but enough to slick up the passes. Cooler weather settles in Monday through Wednesday, with highs in the 40s and 50s. We warm up slightly by Thursday.

In A quick heads-up, a High Wind Warning is in effect for the West Glacier Region Sunday. Gusts could hit 70 miles an hour. If you're driving a high-profile vehicle, you might want to rethink your travel plans.

See you tomorrow.

See you this afternoon.

Good morning. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That snow you're seeing through your windshield? That's the last gasp of our overnight system. We picked up over an inch statewide, with the Crazies grabbing two inches. Roads are slushy this morning — take it slow.

Snow wraps up by mid-morning, clearing north to south. By this afternoon, partly sunny skies take over. Highs push to the upper 40s and around 50 degrees — not bad for early March. Tonight drops to the low 30s under partly cloudy skies.

Saturday brings the warmth and the wind. Highs jump into the upper 50s and low 60s across most of Montana. But western foothills see gusts building to 40 miles an hour by evening. Sunday? That's when it gets serious.

Sunday's wind event is shaping up to be significant. We're talking 60 to 70 mile an hour gusts along the Rocky Mountain Front. Widespread 40 to 50 mile an hour winds spread east to the I-23 corridor. High Wind Warnings are posted from Saturday morning through Sunday night. If you've got outdoor plans Sunday, secure anything that can blow away. Travel will be rough for high-profile vehicles.

Monday brings a cold front with rain and snow showers — snow levels drop to valley floors. Highs cool to the 40s and 50s. Tuesday stays unsettled with snow chances and highs in the low to mid 40s. Wednesday offers a brief break with partly sunny skies and highs climbing back to the upper 40s and low 50s. Another system arrives late Wednesday into Thursday with more rain and snow chances.

Secure those trampolines today. Tomorrow's a good day to stay inside.

See you tomorrow.

Good afternoon. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That half foot of snow we woke up to? It's wrapping up now. Step outside and you're looking at 37 degrees with a few flakes still drifting down. But forget about today — this weekend is about to get absolutely wild.

In the next 24 hours. Eastern Montana wraps up the snow and rain by early evening. You'll hit 48 degrees this afternoon before temperatures crash to 30 tonight. Mixed precipitation lingers until 6 A.M. Friday, then we clear out. Friday rebounds nicely to 50 under partly sunny skies.

Central Montana gets the steadiest rain this afternoon — 70 percent chance with cloudy skies. High near 45 before dropping to 42 by evening. Rain flips to snow overnight as we fall to 28. Friday turns mostly sunny and breezy, climbing to 49.

Western Montana catches a brief rain chance around 1 P.M. — 40 percent odds. High near 46, then down to 30 tonight with a chance of rain and snow before midnight. Friday stays mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow, topping out at 45.

Now here's where things get interesting. Saturday brings a dramatic warmup — highs jump into the upper 50s and low 60s. But that warmth comes with a price. Winds crank up Saturday afternoon, gusting to 40 or 50 miles an hour across much of the state.

Sunday gets even wilder. Temperatures soar into the upper 60s, even touching 70 in some spots. But those winds intensify — widespread gusts of 50 to 60 miles an hour, possibly higher along the Rocky Mountain Front. If you're driving high-profile vehicles this weekend, plan accordingly.

Monday flips the script. A cold front drops temperatures back into the 50s with rain and snow showers. That cooler, active pattern continues through midweek, with highs in the 40s and periodic snow chances.

Charge your phone before this weekend. You might need those wind alerts.

Good morning. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That gray ceiling overhead? It's about to open up. A Pacific trough is dragging rain and snow across Montana right now. And western areas are already getting hammered.

In the next 24 hours. Western Montana takes the brunt this morning. Rain and snow mixing through 6 A.M., then easing off. You'll hit 46 degrees today before dropping back to 30 tonight with lingering showers. Friday brings relief — partly sunny and 45.

Central Montana gets the same messy mix. Rain and snow all day with winds gusting to 18 miles an hour. High of 45, low of 28 tonight. Snow tapers Friday as you climb to 48.

Eastern Montana stays a touch warmer. Rain holds off until after 9 A.M., then moves in for a high near 52. Tonight's the kicker — rain flips to snow as temperatures crash to 30. Friday hits 51 with just a slight chance of morning flurries.

Mountain travelers, listen up. Winter Storm Warning for the Gallatin and Madison ranges until 3 P.M. Below 7000 feet? Four to nine inches. On the peaks? Up to 16 inches. Plan your routes accordingly.

For the weekend. Temperatures surge into the upper 50s, even 60s by Sunday. But the wind comes roaring back — gusts over 60 miles an hour possible along the Rocky Mountain Front. High Wind Watch already posted for Saturday.

In One bright spot, we're gaining three minutes of daylight today. Spring equinox is just two weeks out. Tonight's full moon might struggle through the clouds, but it's up there.

If you're out early. This isn't the morning to skip the layers.

Good evening. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That gray ceiling overhead? It's the leading edge of real change. We're sitting at 43 degrees under overcast skies right now, but a Pacific cold front is slicing through the Northern Rockies as we speak. By morning, winter makes a brief comeback.

In the next 24 hours. Western Montana gets the first hit tonight. Rain develops this evening with snow levels crashing to around 3,000 feet by morning. You'll drop to a low of 34 degrees. Thursday keeps things interesting with a rain and snow mix throughout the day, topping out near 46 degrees.

Central Montana sees rain rolling in overnight. Expect a low around 33 degrees as the wet stuff moves in. That rain transitions to snow by Thursday morning. Highs reach near 47 degrees, but gusts up to 22 miles an hour will make it feel raw.

Eastern Montana holds onto the dry weather longest. Tonight brings mostly cloudy skies with a low near 37 degrees. Rain showers hold off until after 8 A.M. Thursday. You'll see the warmest temperatures in the state, hitting near 50 degrees.

Heads up if you're traveling south. Winter Weather Advisories cover the Ruby Mountains and Southern Beaverhead Mountains through 9 A.M. Thursday. Two to four inches of snow combined with gusts to 40 miles an hour will make travel tricky over Monida Pass.

Looking ahead, the weekend takes a sharp turn. Highs surge into the upper 50s and even 60s — that's running 15 to 20 degrees above normal for early March. But it comes with a price. Winds howl Saturday and Sunday, with gusts topping 50 miles an hour along the Rocky Mountain Front and foothills. Another system arrives Monday, bringing cooler air and chances for rain and snow.

Tonight's full moon will have some competition from all those clouds. We saw sunrise at 6:57 this morning, sunset at 6:12 this evening. And we're gaining over three minutes of daylight every single day now.

Good morning. Montana. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Montana is living up to its "big sky" reputation today with two completely different worlds. Eastern Montana is basking in 65 degrees under mostly sunny skies. That's nearly 20 degrees above normal for early March. Meanwhile. Western Montana sits at 50 degrees with rain falling and a likely soak continuing through the day. Down in Central Montana, you're in the middle at 59 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Southwest winds gusting to 20 miles an hour keep things breezy.

In the next 24 hours. Tonight, the divide sharpens. Eastern Montana stays mild with a low of 37 degrees. But rain moves in after 4 A.M. Ahead of a cold front. Central Montana sees rain developing by evening, mixing with snow overnight as temperatures drop to 34. Out west, that rain transitions to a rain-snow mix with a low of 34.

Thursday brings cooler air statewide. Eastern Montana drops to 51 degrees with rain likely. Central Montana hits 48 with rain and snow mixing. Western Montana stays at 45 with continued rain and snow showers.

A Winter Weather Advisory kicks in at 3 P.M. Today for Northwest Beaverhead County. Expect 3 to 6 inches of snow at pass level, with gusts to 35 miles an hour. Travel over Homestake and Lost Trail Passes could get tricky after sunset.

Looking ahead. Friday clears out with highs near 50. The weekend turns warm and windy. Sunday could hit 68 degrees in the east, but gusts may exceed 50 miles an hour. Another system arrives early next week, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of snow.

By the way, tonight's full moon rises at sunset. With spring equinox just two weeks away, we're gaining over 3 minutes of daylight each day.

Right now a ridge of high pressure is parked over the Northern Rockies. And it's doing us a serious favor. That gray blanket overhead is hiding something special. Eastern Montana hits 66 degrees tomorrow. That's nearly 20 above normal for early March.

In the next 24 hours. But enjoy it while the window's open. Because a Pacific storm is already locking onto us.

Rain reaches western Montana by 8 A.M. Wednesday. By afternoon it's a soaker out there. Central Montana stays dry longer, with rain holding off until around 5 P.M. Out east? You get one more gorgeous day. Mostly sunny, 66 degrees, the kind of afternoon where you forget what month it's. Then rain catches up Wednesday night.

Tonight, mostly cloudy across the board. Lows settle near 34 degrees in the west, 37 central, 36 out east. That full moon's up there somewhere, fighting through the clouds.

Now here's where it gets interesting. The cold front crashes through Wednesday night. Snow levels plummet to valley floors by Thursday morning. Mountain passes could stack up eight inches or more. Foothill towns like Red Lodge might wake up to a few sloppy inches of slush.

For the week ahead. Thursday brings cooler air with lingering rain and snow showers. Friday dries out briefly. Then the weekend flips the script again. Warm and windy, with gusts topping 50 miles an hour along the Rocky Mountain Front. Monday another system rolls in with more rain and snow chances.

We're gaining over three minutes of daylight every day now. Spring equinox is just two weeks out. But winter's got one more card to play.

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.

A Canadian cold front sliced through overnight. and it's rewriting the weather map as we speak. Eastern Montana woke up to winter. Western Montana? Still clinging to something closer to spring.

In the next 24 hours. We're sitting at 35 degrees right now under clear skies. That's actually our overnight low too. The front stalled in central Montana, creating a temperature wall you could almost see if you drove across the state.

Out east, the cold is winning. Highs only reach 46 degrees with a north wind at 8 to 14 miles an hour. That wind makes it feel colder than the number suggests. Tonight? A sharp drop to 22 degrees.

Central Montana sits in the battle zone. Highs struggle to 33 degrees. Around 8 A.M., wind chills will feel like 15 degrees. Cover up before you head out. Tonight brings a hard freeze at 17 degrees.

Western Montana dodged the worst of it. Sunny skies push you to 52 degrees with light winds. Tonight, clouds roll in as temperatures ease to 28 degrees.

Now for the wind alerts. A High Wind Warning runs until 9 A.M. For the Melville Foothills and Northern Sweet Grass. Gusts to 60 miles an hour. A Wind Advisory covers the Livingston Area and Beartooth Foothills until 9 A.M. If you're on I-90 between Livingston and Big Timber, brace for crosswinds.

Southwest Phillips County has a Winter Storm Warning until 11 A.M. Three to five inches of snow expected. Blaine County sits under a Winter Weather Advisory until 11 A.M. With one to three inches.

Tomorrow flips the script. High pressure builds in. Temperatures surge into the mid-50s statewide.

Here's your week ahead. Sunday through Wednesday brings a spring preview. Highs climb into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. No drama. Just mild, sunny conditions. Our next system arrives Wednesday night with rain and mountain snow.

In Sunrise today is at 7, 04 A.M. Sunset at 6:06 P.M. We're gaining over three minutes of daylight daily. Spring equinox is 20 days out.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.

That wind rattling your windows? Buckle up.. It's about to get wild.

Right now you're at 31 degrees under clear skies. But today splits Montana in two. Eastern Montana gets the heat and the fury. Western Montana stays calm and cool. And Central Montana? You're caught in the crossfire.

Out east, sunshine cranks you to 63 degrees. That's nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal for late February. But here's the catch.. West winds scream at 16 to 33 miles an hour, gusting to 47 by mid-afternoon. Secure anything that isn't nailed down. Tonight drops to 37 under partly cloudy skies.

Head west and it's a different planet. You top out at 46 degrees with gentle 5 to 10 mile an hour winds. Feels downright peaceful compared to the east. Tonight's low hits 31 under partly cloudy skies.

Central Montana gets the worst of it. High near 51 degrees, but southwest winds howl at 28 to 37 miles an hour with gusts to 54. A Wind Advisory is in effect. That's strong enough to snap branches and knock down trash cans. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low of 35.

Looking ahead.. Friday brings another mild day with a slight chance of rain or snow by evening. Saturday cools back to the 30s and 40s. Then we rebound beautifully. Sunday through Wednesday looks sunny and warm, with highs climbing back into the 60s by midweek.

We're gaining over three minutes of daylight today. Spring equinox is just three weeks out.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th.

That dusting of snow overnight? Barely a tenth of an inch. The real story is what's happening next.. A 20-degree temperature swing that'll have you questioning if winter just gave up.

Out east, rain showers wrap up between 4 A.M. and 7 A.M. You bottom out at 34 degrees around 5 A.M. Then watch the thermometer climb. By 3 P.M. you hit 54 degrees. Feels like 27 degrees early, but that warmth takes over fast. Winds gust to 23 miles an hour around 1 P.M.
Head west and you get a brief flirtation with mixed precipitation around 5 A.M. Then skies clear. You peak at 42 degrees by 4 P.M. Steady west winds around 10 miles an hour. Tonight drops to 28 degrees by 2 A.M., with wind chills near 21 degrees.

Central Montana stays bone dry. Morning lows around 30 degrees at 5 A.M. climb to 48 degrees by 4 P.M. West-southwest winds howl around 22 miles an hour. Wind chills dip to 22 degrees early.

Two alerts matter. A Winter Storm Warning runs until 5 P.M. today for the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains. Another 4 to 8 inches up there. And a High Wind Warning kicks in tonight for Phillips County. Gusts to 70 miles an hour through Friday morning. That's the kind of wind that moves things you didn't know could move.

Your week ahead.. Thursday pushes near 60 degrees out east. Friday a cold front crashes through with light snow Friday night into Saturday. Temperatures drop back to the 30s and 40s for the weekend before warming early next week.

We're gaining over 3 minutes of daylight today. Spring equinox is three weeks out.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.

Step outside right now and you'll feel it.. Roads are already getting slick with a messy mix of rain and snow. But this morning's mess? That's just the opening act. The real show starts tonight when a cold front roars in with heavy mountain snow, gusty winds. And snow squalls that could drop visibility to zero in seconds.

Let's start in Western Montana. Missoula and the Bitterroot are dealing with 1 to 2 inches of wet snow this morning before it flips back to rain this afternoon. But don't relax yet. Tonight that cold front hits. And by Wednesday morning you're back to all snow. The wild card? Snow squalls — brief but brutal bursts that could dump an inch in minutes. Lookout Pass and MacDonald Pass are looking at 4 to 8 inches by Wednesday, with winds gusting to 30 miles an hour. And if you're eyeing the backcountry, don't. The Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains are under a Winter Storm Warning with 1 to 2 feet of snow and winds hitting 70 miles an hour. Avalanche danger is high.

Central Montana sees a brief chance of light snow around 7 A.M., but the real action is tonight. Winds crank up to 30 miles an hour, with gusts near 50 by Wednesday. Today you'll hit 47 degrees — well above normal — but by Thursday those gusts could reach 60 miles an hour. If you're driving anything tall, wait until Friday.

Eastern Montana gets rain and snow through 2 P.M., then dries out. You'll actually climb to 43 degrees today, but Wednesday brings another round of snow and winds gusting to 40 miles an hour. Then comes the temperature rollercoaster: 57 degrees Thursday, down to 21 by Friday night.

Here's your week ahead. Wednesday is the big day — that cold front brings dangerous winds, especially along the Rocky Mountain Front where gusts could hit 90 miles an hour. Thursday stays windy but temperatures jump into the 50s. Then Friday night, arctic air crashes in and drops us 30 degrees in 24 hours. Saturday morning you're waking up to teens and 20s.

Secure anything loose outside before Wednesday hits. This week, the wind writes the headlines.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd.

Step outside right now and you're at 33 degrees under clear skies. But . Montana's about to split three ways today. And wind is writing the script.

Out east, you're the lucky ones. Partly sunny skies push you to 58 degrees by 2 PM — that's nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal for late February. But don't get too comfortable. Winds flip from southwest to northwest around 4 AM. And by dawn it'll feel like 12 degrees even though you're sitting at 22. After 2 AM tonight, a slight chance of rain and snow showers rolls in. Lows hold near 32.

Central Montana, you're catching the drama. Winds gust to 29 miles an hour by 2 PM under partly sunny skies, with highs near 54 degrees. Tonight, rain arrives between 8 PM and 4 AM. And lows crash to 16 — feeling more like 4 degrees with that wind. Tomorrow brings more rain and snow showers, highs near 48.

Western Montana, buckle up. Rain and snow — sometimes both at once — start around 8 AM and don't quit until 4 AM Tuesday. Peak chance hits 94 percent around 9 PM. Highs today reach just 48 degrees. Winds shift from southeast to west-northwest around 9 AM, making a mess of things. Tomorrow? Same story. Rain and snow likely, lows near 30, highs in the low 40s.

The real headline? Wind warnings. Livingston and the Beartooth Foothills could see gusts hit 65 miles an hour through Tuesday morning. The Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains? Winter Storm Warning for 10 to 20 inches of snow by Wednesday, with 60-mile-an-hour gusts. Avalanche danger is climbing.

This week stays active. Tuesday brings more mixed precipitation statewide. Wednesday, winds ramp back up — gusts to 50 possible. By Friday, temperatures plummet, especially central Montana, where highs struggle to reach the upper 20s.

Secure anything loose outside today. This wind doesn't ask permission.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd.

Okay folks, Montana is doing its split personality thing today. And it's kind of wild. Central Montana woke up to minus 2 degrees — yeah, *below zero* — while Western Montana is practically throwing a beach party at 48. That's a 50-degree spread across one state. Classic Montana.

Let's start east. You're sitting at 36 degrees today, dry and chilly. Tonight drops to 19, then here's where it gets weird — temperatures *rise* overnight as winds flip around. By Monday you rocket to 55 degrees. Fifty-five! Then a cold front crashes the party Monday night, bringing rain that flips to snow by Tuesday. Southwest winds gust to 25 miles an hour.

Western Montana, you've got the sweet spot today — mostly sunny, 48 degrees. But after 2 A.M., light snow sneaks in. Monday brings rain and snow mix with highs near 49. Mountain passes like Lookout and Lolo will get slick, so take it slow if you're driving through.

Central Montana, you're the cold spot. Minus 2 this morning, struggling to 29 this afternoon. But Monday? You jump to 55 degrees with winds screaming out of the southwest at 20 to 30 miles an hour. Gusts near Livingston could hit 48. That's the kind of wind that'll rearrange your patio furniture.

For the week. Tuesday and Wednesday bring rain and snow statewide. The Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains could see 10 to 20 inches with gusts to 50 miles an hour — Winter Storm Watch in effect. Thursday gives you a breather with highs near 50, then another front Friday drops temperatures back to the 30s by Saturday.

One quick thing — if this forecast helped you plan your Sunday, share it with someone who needs the heads up.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Montana Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th.

Folks, Montana woke up with a temperature spread wide enough to drive a cattle herd through. Central Montana is sitting at minus 2 right now. That's the kind of cold where your nostril hairs freeze on the first breath. Head west and it's a balmy 16 degrees. Eastern Montana splits the difference at 12 degrees.

Here's the thing. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise hit at 6:32 this morning. Sunset rolls in at 5:19. You can feel February tipping toward spring, even if the thermometer disagrees. Air quality is moderate, so take it easy if you're sensitive.

Tonight the real cold settles in. Central Montana could drop to minus 10. That's frostbite territory in under 30 minutes. Western and eastern regions dip into single digits. Skies stay crystal clear with barely a breath of wind.

Tomorrow brings a quiet Sunday. Western Montana climbs near 20 degrees. Central struggles to reach 10 degrees. Eastern Montana lands somewhere in the mid teens. Cold, but sunshine makes it tolerable. Perfect day for a slow morning and a second cup of coffee.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Monday stays dry and calm. Then something nice happens. Temperatures start climbing by midweek. You'll want to enjoy highs pushing into the 20s and 30s. That's a 30 degree swing from where central Montana sits right now. No major storms brewing either. Just watch for some wind shifts later in the week that could stir things up.

Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going.

Stay safe out there. Bundle up if you're heading out this morning. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
