Year 9 students from the Liger Leadership Academy, partnered with various organisations and professionals to help tackle the issue of e-waste. An issue that is not only affecting our country but the world. Would you like to learn what's behind all this new technology that's taking over our world? For the past 5 months, we have been making pamphlets and fixing broken computers in the community to create awareness. As our project is almost ending, we have decided to create this podcast for you to listen to, to have a brief understanding of what e-waste is and how you can help. We have created 6 episodes talking to people who have been working on making an impact and what challenges they faced. We hope you enjoy listening to it!

Students Aren and Nate talk to the CEO and co-founder of MINT innovation Will Barker about his career and goal for the future. MINT innovation is a new company based in Auckland, New Zealand. MINT shreds up old e-waste and uses micro-organisms to extract valuable metals such as Gold and Copper. The process is entirely environmentally friendly and reduces labor-intensive mining in poorer countries like Peru. Although there are easier, cheaper methods such as burning the e-waste, MINTs method is more effective and doesn’t leave any carbon footprint whatsoever.
