Good evening. Kansas. I'm Michael Mosby.

A powerful cold front is charging across the Plains. It hits tonight. Sunday brings a complete weather reversal.

Northeast Kansas sees the drama first, while you start Sunday near 60 degrees. Then the bottom falls out, rain showers change to snow by the afternoon. Winds shift to the west, gusts could reach 55 miles an hour. Temperatures crash into the 30s by evening, it feels like winter returns in just a few hours.

Moving on. Down in South Central Kansas, you deal with blowing dust, while winds gust near 56 miles an hour from the northwest. Visibility could drop. Highs reach 51 early, then fall to the upper 30s, you might see a rain shower or snow squall. But the wind is the main story.

Western Kansas faces the strongest gusts, sustained winds hit 35 to 43 miles an hour. Gusts could top 60 miles an hour, it's windy and dangerous. Highs only reach 39. Expect blowing dust.

Sunday night turns brutally cold, lows drop to 13 across the northeast. Western Kansas falls to 13 as well, south Central sees a low of 20. Wind chills make it feel like single digits.

Temperature-wise. Monday stays frigid. Northeast Kansas tops out at 30 degrees, while western Kansas warms to 43. South Central reaches 40. Winds remain gusty.

Then comes the turnaround, tuesday brings a warm-up. We reach the 60s, wednesday jumps to the 70s. By Thursday. Here comes 80 degrees, friday stays sunny and warm near 80.

As the sun sets. Secure loose objects today. And the wind tonight will be fierce.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>Kansas Weather 3/9 Morning - Flood Warning</itunes:title>

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside and you'll feel spring showing up early. We're flirting with records today.

Sunshine's pouring down statewide. And temperatures are already climbing fast from this morning's 53 degrees. By this afternoon, we're talking 76 in the northeast, 78 in south-central areas. And western Kansas topping out at 81. That's within striking distance of records set back in 1986. The spring equinox is just 11 days away. And today feels like a sneak preview.

Winds stay light out of the south, gusting to around 20 miles an hour this afternoon. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. Tonight stays mild — lows drop to the low 50s under mostly clear skies.

But here's where it gets interesting. Tuesday brings a storm system that'll flip the script. Highs climb into the low 80s during the day, but by afternoon, a warm front sets up across Kansas. That's when things get active. Thunderstorms develop late afternoon into evening, mainly along and east of Highway 283. Large hail up to two inches, damaging winds. And heavy rainfall are all possible. Some storms could train along the front, leading to flooding concerns Tuesday night.

Wednesday? The cold front sweeps through. Temperatures crash — highs struggle to reach the mid 50s with gusty north winds. That's a 25 to 30 degrees drop from Tuesday.

The rest of the week quiets down and warms back up. Thursday rebounds to the low 60s. Friday hits the upper 60s. And Saturday warms to the low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

Enjoy the warmth today. Tomorrow's a different story.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>Kansas Weather 3/8 Midday - 29° Above Normal</itunes:title>

Good afternoon. Kansas. I'm Matt Mullins.

Step outside right now and you're feeling 54 degrees. That's just the warm-up act. Sunny skies push us into the upper 60s and low 70s this afternoon, with southwest winds gusting to 25 miles an hour.

Kansas City tops out near 71 degrees. Wichita hits 68. But the real winner? Dodge City climbs to 75, warmest in the state, thanks to that downslope flow off the Rockies doing its thing.

Tonight stays mild. Clear skies, lows settling into the mid to upper 40s. Southwest winds ease to around 10 miles an hour.

Monday cranks the heat even higher. We're talking upper 70s to near 80 degrees across much of Kansas — running 29 degrees above normal for early March. Some spots could challenge records. Dodge City's record is 80 degrees. Garden City's is 86. Genuine spring warmth here.

But here's the twist. Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, a strong system barrels in from the southwest. Showers and thunderstorms develop, some potentially severe, especially south and east of Dodge City. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats. Heavy rainfall is also likely — we could see three quarters to one inch of rain in some areas.

Wednesday morning, a cold front sweeps through, dropping temperatures back to the low to mid 50s. That cooldown is brief. By Friday, we rebound to the 60s and low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

One more thing — don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 A.M. and we're gaining daylight fast — 2 minutes and 33 seconds today alone. Spring equinox is just 12 days away.

See you this evening.

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside and you'll feel that crisp 35 degrees. Enjoy it. Because we're about to flip the script. Kansas is gearing up for one of the warmest stretches we've seen this early in March.

Today? Pure sunshine statewide. Down in Wichita, you're climbing to 69 degrees. Kansas City hits 68. Out west in Dodge City, you top out at 72 — warmest spot in the state. Southwest winds gust to 24 miles an hour this afternoon, especially across the south. Tonight stays mild, dropping to the upper 30s west and mid-to-upper 40s elsewhere.

Now here's where it gets wild. Monday brings near-record heat. Highs push into the upper 70s statewide — some spots flirt with 80 degrees. That's 29 degrees above normal for early March. Kansas City has a coin flip chance at breaking its 77-degree record from 2021.

Tuesday continues the warmth with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. But change is coming. A strong cold front sweeps through Tuesday evening, bringing showers and thunderstorms. Eastern Kansas faces the highest storm chances — some could be strong to severe. Heavy rainfall is possible.

Wednesday cools dramatically. Highs only reach the low 50s behind the front. That's a 30-degree drop in 24 hours. Thursday rebounds to the low 60s with sunshine. Friday stays pleasant in the mid-to-upper 60s.

One heads up — spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 A.M. and with the spring equinox just 12 days away, we're gaining daylight fast.

Soak in that sunshine today. The roller coaster starts tomorrow.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>Kansas Weather 3/7 Evening - Flooded by Sunshine</itunes:title>

Good evening. Kansas. I'm Michael Nally.

In Here's story, a cold front swept through last night, dropping temperatures like a rock — we bottomed out at 35 degrees statewide. But that chill? It's already on its way out. By this afternoon, we'll climb into the upper 50s. And then the real show begins.

Down in South Central Kansas, you're waking up to 36 degrees — but that damp chill won't last. Winds stay light. And by 5 PM you'll hit 68 degrees. Classic Kansas spring: start with a jacket, end with sleeves rolled up.

Head west to Western Kansas. And you'll find Goodland at 33 degrees this morning. But here's the twist: while the rest of the state shivers, you'll rocket to 72 degrees by 4 PM. That's 30 degrees above normal for early March — the kind of warmth that makes you double-check the calendar.

And Northeast Kansas? You're the Goldilocks zone today. Lows near 38, highs near 71. Perfect weather for that Saturday afternoon walk. If you don't mind a breeze picking up to 15 miles an hour by 2 PM.

Now here's where it gets interesting. That "warm" Saturday? Just the appetizer. Sunday brings statewide sunshine and highs in the low 70s. But Monday and Tuesday? We're flirting with record territory. Topeka's forecast high of 77 on Monday would tie the 1986 record. Concordia's aiming for 77 too — just shy of their 81-degree record. And Western Kansas? You could hit 80 degrees on Monday. That's not just warm for March. That's July warmth in early spring.

But every good story has conflict. Tuesday afternoon, a storm system rolls in from the west. Thunderstorms fire up — some potentially strong — along with heavy rain. Temperatures will crash behind the front: from 80 degrees Tuesday to the 40s by Wednesday morning. We're talking a 40-degree drop in 24 hours.

Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Sunday stays sunny with 70s statewide — perfect to pretend it's summer. Monday brings near-record warmth in the upper 70s, though fire danger climbs with those breezy southwest winds. Tuesday changes the game entirely — storms arrive by afternoon with heavy rain and highs still near 80 before the bottom falls out. Wednesday is your reality check with highs only in the 50s and lingering showers. Thursday and Friday slowly rebound into the 60s, dry but cooler.

We're just 13 days from the spring equinox. And the sun's already putting in overtime. We gained 2 minutes and 33 seconds of daylight yesterday. By next weekend, we'll have an extra 20 minutes of evening light.

See you tomorrow.

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That damp chill you felt this morning? It’s history. A cold front swept through overnight to clear our skies. And now the Kansas sun is taking over. When March sunshine gets to work like this, it doesn’t mess around.

You’ll feel the rebound fast. Northeast Kansas climbs to 54 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Northwest winds at 6 to 12 miles an hour will keep it crisp early on—it’ll feel like 27 degrees despite the actual air temp of 36. But you’ll warm up quick.

Down in South Central Kansas, you’re hitting 56 degrees with gusts up to 25 miles an hour out of the north-northwest. That’s enough to rattle the winter wheat. Tonight cools to 36, but don’t get cozy—tomorrow brings 67 and sunny.

Western Kansas takes the prize today with 57 degrees. Tonight’s low drops to 33, but Sunday? You’re basking in 72. That’s right—72 degrees in early March.

In Here’s surprise, this isn’t just a tease. Sunday and Monday launch us into serious warmth—highs pushing 80 in some spots. But Tuesday brings a reality check. A strong system moves in with thunderstorms—some potentially severe—followed by a sharp crash back to the 50s and rain Wednesday. We might even see snow showers mixing in up north.

Keep a close eye on the Marais Des Cygnes River at La Cygne. A Flood Warning is in effect through Tuesday evening. If you’re near Linn County, remember: turn around, don’t drown.

On the bright side, we’re gaining 2 minutes and 33 seconds of daylight today. Sunrise was at 6:43 A.M. and we’ll see the sunset at 6:18 P.M. The spring equinox is just 13 days away.

Charge those batteries for Sunday's outdoor plans. See you tomorrow.

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Half an inch of rain fell overnight. And that drizzle you're feeling? Just the warm-up act. The real show kicks off this afternoon when a powerful cold front slams into Kansas, bringing severe weather and a dramatic temperature crash.

Northeast Kansas faces the highest threat today. Thunderstorms roll through this morning before 11 A.M., with a 70 percent chance of storms packing gusty winds and small hail. Highs reach 73 degrees, but south winds gust to 32 miles an hour. Tonight's the main event. Storms fire up again between 7 P.M. and 2 A.M. and these pack a punch — damaging winds, heavy rain. And possible tornadoes. Temperatures crash to 42 degrees behind the front.

South Central Kansas stays mostly cloudy today, hitting 71 degrees with breezy south winds gusting to 36 miles an hour. The severe threat holds off until tonight, when scattered storms develop between 7 P.M. and midnight. Lows drop to 37 degrees.

Western Kansas sees partly sunny skies and a high near 73 degrees, with the strongest winds — southwest gusts to 40 miles an hour. A slight chance of rain showers develops after 3 P.M., but the main cold front arrives tonight, dropping temperatures to 30 degrees.

Saturday brings relief. Sunshine returns statewide with highs in the mid-50s. Sunday warms quickly to the upper 60s — perfect for getting outside. Monday soars into the mid-70s with continued sunshine. But Tuesday brings round two. Another storm system tracks into Kansas, bringing a 60 to 70 percent chance of thunderstorms and possibly severe weather again.

Stay weather aware today, folks. If you're heading out this afternoon or evening, keep an eye on the sky and have a way to get warnings.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>Kansas Weather March 5 Midday - Red Flag Warning</itunes:title>

Good afternoon. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside and you're looking at 50 degrees under gray skies. Feels almost spring-like. Don't get too comfortable.

In the next 24 hours. Tonight kicks off 24 hours of serious weather. First wave hits late evening — thunderstorms fire up across southern Kansas around 9 P.M. and push northeast through the night. We're talking ping pong ball hail and wind gusts hitting 55 to 65 miles an hour. South central and southeast Kansas take the brunt between 9 P.M. and 3 A.M. If you're in that zone, have multiple ways to get warnings.

Friday morning those storms clear out. Then it gets interesting. Another round develops late afternoon as a cold front barrels through. Dewpoints climb into the low 60s, creating an unstable mess. But here's the wildcard — morning clouds may limit heating, which makes the forecast tricky.

If discrete storms fire ahead of the front between 4 and 7 P.M., all bets are off. Very large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes — the full menu. More likely scenario is a line of storms along the front Friday evening with damaging winds and embedded spin-ups. Either way. Friday evening demands your full attention.

Behind that front, reality crashes back in. Saturday highs only hit the mid 50s after lows in the 30s. Welcome back to early March. But it doesn't last. Sunday warms to the upper 60s. Monday could flirt with record territory in the upper 70s.

Quick look ahead — dry through Monday, then another storm system approaches Tuesday with renewed severe potential.

Stay weather aware tonight and especially tomorrow evening. Keep that phone charged.

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

If you opened the door this morning and couldn't see your neighbor's house, you're not imagining things. Dense fog has swallowed most of Kansas overnight. We're sitting at 47 degrees with visibility down to a quarter mile in spots. Marion County stays under a Dense Fog Advisory until 11 A.M., so take it slow on the roads.

In the next 24 hours. Once that fog burns off by late morning, we're in for a surprisingly mild day. Northeast and south central Kansas hit 65 degrees. Western Kansas warms even more, topping out at 69 degrees. That's about 28 degrees above normal for early March — Out west, though, that warmth comes with a catch. Hamilton. Stanton. And Morton counties are under a Fire Weather Watch this afternoon. Gusty south winds and humidity dropping to 15 percent means any spark could spread fast. Not the day to burn trash.

Tonight, things get interesting. Thunderstorms develop after 8 P.M. Across eastern Kansas, peaking around midnight. Some could pack large hail and gusty winds. Look up between the storms and you'll catch a full moon.

Friday brings our best shot at severe weather. A strong cold front barrels through during the afternoon. Highs climb to 73 degrees ahead of it, then temperatures crash to 40 degrees by Friday night. That's a 33-degree drop in hours.

Saturday cools to the mid-50s. Then the warmth surges back. Sunday hits the upper 60s. Monday pushes toward 78 degrees. Our next storm system arrives Tuesday with more rain chances.

Spring equinox is just two weeks away. And today's weather is a preview of the wild swings that come with the changing season.

Good evening. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That gray drizzle from earlier left behind a damp, 47-degree blanket over the state right now. It feels raw. But here's the thing. This is just the calm before a serious warm-up. Fog develops overnight, so watch for reduced visibility during your Thursday morning commute. Lows settle into the 40s across most of the state, though the western plains dip to a cooler 33 degrees.

In the next 24 hours. Thursday is a different beast. Highs soar into the upper 60s statewide—about 28 degrees to 28 degrees above normal for early March. South winds really crank, gusting to 24 miles an hour out west. It's going to feel like spring, but keep an eye on the sky. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Hamilton. Stanton. And Morton counties.

The atmosphere wakes up Thursday night. Thunderstorms roll in after 8 P.M. and continue into Friday morning. Some storms could be severe with large hail and damaging winds. Friday stays active with more storms developing ahead of a cold front. We hit the lower 70s before that front sweeps through. Then temperatures crash into the mid 50s for Saturday.

The weekend recovers nicely. Sunday brings sunshine and highs near 70 degrees. Monday could approach 80 degrees out west—that's near record territory. Another system brings rain chances by Tuesday.

Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight every day now. And the spring equinox is just two weeks away.

Keep that extra blanket handy tonight. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That damp gray outside your window? that's the aftermath of nearly two-tenths of an inch of rain overnight. Temperatures held steady in the low 40s. And now we're dealing with the fog that settled in behind it.

In the next 24 hours. If you're driving through central Kansas this morning, take it slow. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 11 A.M. For areas along and east of Highway 83. Visibility has dropped below a mile in spots.

Here's how today shapes up across the state. Northeast Kansas stays gray and damp with drizzle possible through the afternoon. Highs reach 53 degrees. South Central Kansas sees rain showers likely this morning, tapering off by midday with a high near 50 degrees. Western Kansas has the best shot at some breaks in the clouds this afternoon with a high of 54 degrees.

Tonight, that fog could return. Lows drop to 34 degrees out west and hold in the lower 40s east. By the way, look up tonight if the clouds break. We've got a full moon.

Thursday brings a dramatic warm-up. Highs surge into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees statewide. Enjoy the relative quiet. Because Thursday night into Friday, our weather pattern turns active.

A strong storm system brings rounds of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night through Friday. Some storms could be severe, especially Friday afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats. We're also watching for locally heavy rainfall.

The cold front sweeps through Friday night, dropping temperatures back into the 50s for Saturday. Sunday and Monday look sunny and warm again with highs rebounding into the 70s, even approaching 80 degrees in western Kansas by Monday.

Good evening. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That steady tapping on your window? That’s about a sixth of an inch of rain we picked up overnight. You're waking up to 43 degrees and a blanket of gray. The moisture isn't done with us yet.

In the next 24 hours. Here's what's headed our way. Northeast Kansas, you're staying socked in with clouds and fog today. Keep that umbrella handy. Rain becomes likely this evening. The real drama arrives between 9 P.M. and midnight. Thunderstorms will roll through. And a few could pack quarter-sized hail. You'll drop to about 42 degrees tonight. Wednesday stays damp with another round of rain likely, though we climb to a milder 55 degrees.

Down in South Central Kansas, rain showers develop after 2 A.M., peaking around 5 A.M. You'll wake up to wet roads and patchy fog Wednesday. High tomorrow reaches 55 degrees.

Out west, a completely different story. Western Kansas stays mostly dry with just some morning fog to burn off. Skies clear by afternoon and you'll actually see the sun. Hitting 62 degrees Wednesday. That's a solid 30 degrees warmer than what the eastern half of the state sees.

The pattern turns active fast. Thursday brings strong south winds and temperatures surging into the upper 60s and even 70s. Thursday night, another round of storms pushes through. And some could be severe. Friday could bring the most significant weather, with large hail, damaging winds. And even a few tornadoes possible.

Behind that system? A stunning weekend. Saturday cools to the upper 50s under sunny skies. Then we climb again. Reaching near 80 degrees by Monday. That's flirting with record territory.

Tonight's full moon has some competition from clouds in the east, but western Kansas should get a nice view after the fog clears.

If you hear thunder late tonight, you might want to move the car inside. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.

Step outside right now and you'll feel something rare for late February. Warmth. Real warmth. The kind that makes you question if winter ever happened. but don't get too comfortable. A cold front is barreling through this afternoon. and it's bringing winter's curtain call.

In the next 24 hours. South Central Kansas? You're the winner today. Wichita climbs to 76 degrees under brilliant sunshine. That's flip-flop weather. That's windows-down weather. Northeast Kansas hits 70 with a slight chance of an early sprinkle. Western Kansas reaches 71 under clear skies.

Here's where it gets wild. Tonight, that front slams the door. Hard. Temperatures crater 40 degrees in some spots. Northeast Kansas drops to 30. South Central falls to 39. Western Kansas hits 30. Your Saturday evening jacket won't cut it by midnight.

Sunday turns messy. Cold air rushes in from the northeast while moisture rides up and over it. Northeast Kansas sees snow by midday, mixing to rain by afternoon. Highs only reach 40. South Central stays mostly rainy at 47 degrees. Western Kansas sits at 42 with a chance of sleet.

The week ahead? Unsettled. Multiple rounds of rain and storms Tuesday through Thursday. Some areas could see two to three inches by week's end.

One heads up for today. Fire danger is elevated across central and southeast Kansas. Warm, dry, breezy conditions raise the risk before Sunday's rain arrives.

In Sunrise was at 6, 54 this morning. Sunset at 6:10. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight daily now. Spring equinox is just 20 days out.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.

Step outside right now and that 38 degrees feels sharp. Clear skies. Frost on the windshield. Classic February morning. But here's the twist.. By this afternoon, you're ditching the jacket.

Western Kansas? You're climbing to 67 degrees today. South Central hits 66. Northeast Kansas reaches 63. All under brilliant sunshine. The kind of day where your car feels like a sauna by lunchtime.

Tonight stays quiet. Clear skies hold. Lows drop to 36 out west, 42 in the northeast. Still mild for late February.

Friday cranks it up even more. We're talking low to mid 70s across most of the state. That's 15 degrees above normal. Light winds. Wall-to-wall sunshine. Perfect weather for a long lunch outside or an early evening walk.

But here's where the plot thickens. Enjoy the warmth while you've got it. A strong cold front barrels in late Saturday. Sunday? Temperatures crash 30 to 40 degrees from Friday's highs. We're talking mid 30s to low 40s. Rain, sleet, maybe even some snow mixing in. Winter's curtain call.

The active pattern sticks around into next week. Rain chances linger Monday through Wednesday. Temperatures slowly climb back into the 50s by midweek.

One more thing. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise this morning at 6:56 A.M. Sunset tonight at 6:08 P.M. Spring equinox is three weeks out. You can feel it in the air.

Soak up this sunshine today and tomorrow. Winter's got one more punch left.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th.

Step outside and you'll feel 39 degrees under clear skies. That chill won't last. We're about to ride a 20 to 30 degrees spike above normal by Friday.

Out west, you're waking up to 33 degrees. Feels like 31 around 5 A.M. By 4 P.M., you hit 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds flip from north to east-northeast around 8 A.M. A brief shower could brush through around 6 P.M., but only a 20 percent shot.

Push south-central and you're starting at 43 degrees. Your low hits 43 around 5 A.M., then you climb to 67 by 4 P.M. Winds shift from east-southeast to south-southeast around 2 P.M. Tonight brings partly cloudy skies and a low around 40.

Up in the northeast, you're at 38 degrees this morning. Your low dips to 35 around 7 A.M. By 3 P.M., you reach 60 degrees with partly sunny skies. Winds shift from east to southeast around noon. Here's where it gets interesting. Rain moves in from 7 P.M. to midnight, peaking at about 40 percent chance around 9 P.M. Nothing heavy, but keep the umbrella handy.

Tonight across the state, lows settle into the 30s. Tomorrow brings more sun with highs in the low to mid 60s.

Thursday and Friday stay sunny with highs climbing into the 70s. Friday looks especially toasty. But a cold front arrives Saturday. That drops temperatures back to reality. Sunday into Monday brings a chance of rain, possibly mixing with snow. Highs retreat to the 40s.

We're gaining over two minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:58 A.M., sunset at 6:07 P.M. Spring equinox is just three weeks away.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.

Step outside and you'll feel 33 degrees. Feels crisp. Feels calm. Feels like spring is teasing you. Don't fall for it. Today kicks off the wildest temperature ride Kansas has thrown at us in weeks. We're talking record-flirting warmth, fire-danger winds. And winter's curtain call by Sunday. Buckle up.

Start in the northeast. You hit 64 degrees by 3 P.M. Under partly sunny skies. Sounds perfect, right? Except those southwest winds gust to 32 miles an hour by late morning. The kind that'll yank your hat clean off. Tonight clouds roll in as temps ease to 37 degrees. Wednesday cools slightly to 58 degrees with a chance of rain overnight. Fire danger stays elevated today, so skip the backyard burn pile.

Push south-central and the heat cranks higher. You're looking at 66 degrees by 3 P.M. With gusts near 30 miles an hour. Feels like someone opened an oven door. Tonight stays mild at 39 degrees. Wednesday brings another balmy 67 degrees before rain chances sneak in Wednesday night. But here's the twist.. Sunday crashes to 48 degrees with rain showers possible. That's a 20-degree nosedive from today.

Now western Kansas? You're basically auditioning for summer. 71 degrees by 2 P.M. Yes, seventy-one. Winds shift north later today, but overnight lows only dip to 33 degrees before bouncing back. Wednesday holds at 70 degrees. Then Sunday reality-checks you at 44 degrees with a slight chance of snow showers. Classic Kansas whiplash.

The pattern through Friday? Widespread 70s. Then a cold front slams the brakes this weekend. Sunday brings a 40-degree temperature crash in some spots, with rain and snow possible. Winter's last stand might be messy. Silver lining? We're gaining 2 minutes and 28 seconds of daylight today. Spring's coming.. Eventually.

Enjoy the warmth today. Just watch those winds. And maybe keep that jacket close for Sunday.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd.

Step outside right now and that 15 degrees will slap you awake faster than any coffee. But here's the plot twist.. By tomorrow afternoon, you'll be peeling off layers like it's April.

Right now, the whole state is locked in the deep freeze. Northeast Kansas sits at 14 degrees. South Central at 20. Western Kansas at 15. But watch what happens by this afternoon. Western Kansas rockets to 52 degrees by 5 P.M., while Northeast Kansas only climbs to 38. That's a 14-degree gap across the state, all thanks to stubborn high pressure camping out in the east.

Tonight, lows dip to 12 in the northeast, 21 in South Central. And 15 out west. Then around 5 A.M. Tuesday, the winds flip from north to northwest in the northeast. And that's your signal. The warm-up is here.

By Tuesday afternoon, every region jumps 25 to 30 degrees. Northeast Kansas hits 62. South Central reaches 65. Western Kansas? A balmy 70 degrees. In February. And it sticks around through Friday, with highs in the 60s and low 70s.

Wednesday night brings a cold front with light rain, mostly central and eastern regions. Just a tenth of an inch or less, enough to knock temps back to the upper 50s Thursday. Then Friday and Saturday? Back to 70 degrees statewide. Sunday reality checks in with highs in the 40s and 50s, plus a slight chance of rain and snow up north.

One heads up.. Fire danger spikes Tuesday and Friday in Western and South Central Kansas. Gusts to 25 miles an hour and humidity in the teens make even small sparks dangerous. Hold off on burning anything.

Classic Kansas. Freezing at sunrise, practically summer by tomorrow.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. Grab your coat one last time, because winter's about to pack its bags for a while.

Step outside right now and you're feeling 22 degrees. Not terrible, but this is the coldest day you'll see for a week. By Tuesday, we're jumping 30 degrees. Yeah, you read that right.

Northeast Kansas, you're hitting 35 degrees around 4 P.M., but those northwest winds gusting to 30 miles an hour will keep you honest. Tonight drops to 15 by 4 A.M., feeling more like 5 with that wind. South Central warms to 41 by 3 P.M., then falls to 21 overnight. Western Kansas, you're the warm spot at 41 around 4 P.M., but you'll still hit 15 by sunrise.

Here's where it gets wild. Monday climbs into the upper 30s and low 40s. Then Tuesday? We're talking 60s statewide, with Western Kansas flirting with 70. That's mittens to sunglasses in 48 hours.

Wednesday night brings a cold front with a slight chance of light rain — nothing heavy, just enough to settle the dust. Thursday cools slightly to the 50s and 60s, then Friday bounces right back near 70 under sunshine.

So Dress warmly today. By Tuesday, you'll be wondering where you put your sunglasses. Spring's not tiptoeing in — it's kicking down the door.

Quick thing — if this forecast helped you plan your week, share it with someone who could use a heads up. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and this cold is absolutely brutal.

Northeast Kansas is sitting at minus 52 degrees right now. Let that sink in. That's the kind of cold where exposed skin gets frostbite in minutes. If you're up there, stay inside. Period. Drive south a few hours to Wichita and you'll find 26 degrees. That feels downright tropical by comparison. Western Kansas splits the difference at 19 degrees.

Here's the deal for today. Northeast Kansas stays dangerously cold with a slight chance of light snow. South Central Kansas crawls toward freezing by afternoon, but the wind keeps it feeling sharp. Western Kansas? Locked in the teens with maybe a flurry or two.

Tonight the bottom drops out again. Northeast Kansas could plunge to minus 55. South Central falls to 15 degrees. Western Kansas hits 10. Wind chills across the state are going to bite hard.

Sunday brings a slow crawl back. Northeast Kansas struggles up to minus 30. South Central warms to 32 degrees. Western Kansas reaches 22. Still cold, but your car might actually start.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. We're stuck in this deep freeze pattern through Wednesday. No big warm ups, no major storms. Just relentless, teeth chattering cold day after day. Air quality sits at moderate, so sensitive groups you'll want to limit time outside.

One bright spot worth holding onto. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every single day. Sunrise at 6:32, sunset at 5:19. The sun hasn't forgotten us.

Alright, quick favor. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Bundle up if you're heading out. Stay safe out there.

Good morning, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and you're listening to the 6 AM Kansas Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd, and your coffee's hot but the air outside is surprisingly gentle.

Step out the door and you'll feel 42 degrees across most of the state. That's downright friendly for late February. Northeast Kansas sits right at that mark with a light northwest breeze around 6 to 10 miles an hour. Dry skies all day. Nothing dramatic. Just a calm, easy Friday.

South Central Kansas? Same story. 42 degrees, light winds, not a drop of rain in sight. Here's the thing though. Drive west and the thermometer dips to 37 degrees. Western Kansas also has a slight chance of drizzle sneaking in later. Don't cancel anything over it. We're talking maybe a 2 in 10 shot.

Now here's what gets me excited. Tomorrow, temperatures start climbing. Northeast Kansas pushes near 50 degrees. South Central hits 52. Even western Kansas warms into the mid 40s. By Sunday, most of the state cracks the 50s. That's the kind of late February gift you don't question. You just enjoy it.

Air quality sits at moderate today, so sensitive groups might want to take it easy outdoors. Sunrise rolls in at 6:33 this morning. Sunset at 5:18. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight every single day now. Golden hour hits around 4:38 this afternoon. Perfect excuse to step outside and breathe.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Dry conditions hold through the weekend with that nice warming trend. Early next week stays pleasant with highs hovering in the upper 40s to low 50s. No major storm systems on the horizon. Just steady, quiet weather carrying us toward March.

Alright. If you're enjoying these morning updates, share us with a friend who likes knowing what the sky's up to.

I'll be back at 9 AM with a fresh look. Stay safe out there, Kansas!
