「因為我想搵到自己人，繼續做廣東人。對我嚟講喺廣東文化之中可以得到滋養。有個作家講過，佢作為一個旅居海外嘅人，好似一啲被從原生嘅森林之中掹出嚟嘅花，被裝到花盆入邊，但就算只有少少土，佢都要繼續開花結果，而當佢堅持咁樣做嘅時候，遇到同樣嘅人，聚埋一齊又變成咗一座森林。我都希望創造呢一片森林，產生有價值有意義嘅內容。咁樣我人生嘅前十八年，我嘅童年，中學，家庭，傳統終於唔再係一個冇人關心，冇人知道，必須遺忘嘅嘢，而係可以同而家發生聯結嘅嘢。」

「家鄉，或者我哋嘅傳統文化係影響咗我哋依家嘅遺產，同時，都好似原生家庭咁，有我哋唔一定中意，或者對我哋有負面影響嘅一啲方面。我覺得呢啲系需要被拎出嚟正視嘅嘢：一啲傳統點樣喺我哋身上留下痕跡，我哋喺成長過程中如何處理，消化，超越，克服呢啲唔係好正向嘅影響，同埋喺呢個過程中我哋自己對家鄉嘅關係點樣變化。」

「有好多粵語社群生活喺世界各地，馬拉、越南、廣東、香港、美國。但系呢啲社群之間好多時候未必互相知道其他社群嘅存在，冇聽過對方嘅古仔，我覺得比較可惜，所以想借住呢個播客同埋社群建設，嚟創造一個足以令到唔同社群可以聯結起身嚟嘅平台，呢個係點解我哋叫做 JyutConnect。我希望聯結呢啲唔同社群，用同一個語言去交流，令到呢一個文化成長，更加有力量。」

"Because I want to find my own people. For me, I feel nourished by Cantonese culture. A writer once said that living overseas is like being a plant taken from its forest and placed into a pot. However, even with little soil, it still tries to blossom and bear fruit. By doing so, it meets like-minded others, and together they become a forest again. I want to connect my past with my present and future.”

“Hometown, or our traditional culture is a heritage. It is like our family of origin, where there are things we don’t necessarily like or that negatively impact us. These things need to be examined: how some traditions have influenced us, how we process and overcome them and grow, and how our relationship to our hometown changes in the process.”

"There are many Cantonese-speaking communities around the world—Malay, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Hong Kong, the U.S. But these communities often don’t know each other or make their stories heard, which I find unfortunate. Through this podcast and community building, I want to create a platform for different communities to connect. That’s why we call it JyutConnect. Connecting with Cantonese to make our culture grow stronger.”
