Good evening. Iowa. I'm Michael Mosby.

Folks, we've got a classic spring setup shaping up. It feels mild out there right now, sitting at 49 degrees under cloudy skies. But don't let that fool you, a powerful storm is taking aim at Iowa.

As the sun sets. Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 3 A.M. In Central Iowa. Eastern Iowa sees a chance of storms after 4 A.M. It stays mild, with lows around 41 degrees in Des Moines and 39 in the east. Winds pick up from the southeast, gusting over 20 miles an hour.

Sunday brings the drama, the day starts with rain and possible rumbles of thunder. Highs reach the low 50s early, then, a sharp cold front crashes through. Rain changes to snow by afternoon in Central Iowa. Temperatures crash. Dropping to around 30 degrees by evening.

Western Iowa sees the switch happen faster, snow starts there by 8 A.M. and continues through 3 P.M, highs near 31 degrees fall into the 20s.

Moving on. The real headline is the wind. Northwest gusts will hit 50 to 60 miles an hour statewide Sunday afternoon. This creates blizzard conditions. Especially in Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities, where 3 to 7 inches of snow is expected.

Temperature-wise. Sunday night is brutal, lows drop to 8 degrees in Des Moines. Wind chills plummet to minus 12, it's even colder in the west, feeling like minus 19.

Monday stays frigid. Highs only reach 21 degrees, with wind chills near minus 13, with skies clear Monday night, but lows bottom out at 6 degrees.

Looking ahead. Let's look at the week ahead, while tuesday warms slightly to 37 degrees. Wednesday looks fantastic, with sunshine and a high near 57, we jump to 72 on Thursday. Friday and Saturday stay sunny and mild, with highs in the low 70s. We'll be back with your next forecast evening.

See you tomorrow.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside right now and you'll feel 46 degrees of spring teasing you. That's where we've been all night. And that's where we're staying for a bit.

Here's the split today. Western Iowa gets mostly sunny skies and a high near 56 with breezy northeast winds around 11 miles an hour. Central Iowa? You're the warm spot — 68 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Eastern Iowa hits 62, but storms fire up after 4 P.M. Down in the Quad Cities, patchy fog clears by mid-morning, then you climb to 67 with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.

As the sun sets. Tonight's the real story. Southeast Iowa — you're in the Enhanced Risk zone for severe weather. Large hail over 2 inches and tornadoes are possible between 4 P.M. and midnight. If you're in that corridor, , central Iowa sees a brief rain chance around 4 A.M. Western Iowa gets mixed precipitation between 1 and 5 A.M., peaking around 3 A.M. Lows drop to the low to mid 30s statewide.

Wednesday turns raw. Rain showers taper off by 1 P.M., then partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Northwest winds gust to 26 miles an hour in central Iowa, stronger out west at 30. Those gusty winds and dropping humidity create fire weather concerns.

Here's your week ahead. Thursday warms back up — mid 50s to low 60s. Then another system arrives late Saturday into Sunday with rain and snow chances. Spring equinox is just 10 days away, but winter's got one more card to play.

As the sun sets. If you're in southeast Iowa tonight, keep your phone charged and weather alerts on.

Looking ahead.

See you this afternoon.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside right now and you'll feel something rare for early March. Actual warmth. We're already at 51 degrees. And this is just the appetizer.

The Quad Cities are about to flirt with record territory today, climbing to 76 degrees. That's 20 degrees warmer than normal — the kind of day where you forget winter even happened. Central Iowa hits 72, eastern parts reach 71. And even western Iowa, running slightly cooler, still climbs to 68. Southwest winds around 10 miles an hour help push that warmth statewide.

Tonight gets interesting. A weak front stalls right across Iowa, splitting the state in two. South of that boundary, lows hold in the mid to upper 40s — unseasonably mild. North of it? Mid 30s. That's a 16 degrees to 15 degrees difference over just a few miles.

Tuesday starts quiet but turns active fast. Highs reach the low to mid 60s before storms develop. The Quad Cities face the greatest severe weather threat Tuesday evening — large hail and a few tornadoes possible. Heavy rain could bring localized flooding south of Interstate 80. If you're in southeastern Iowa.

Wednesday turns breezy and cooler behind the front, highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. Thursday warms back into the upper 50s to mid 60s, but strong winds and low humidity create fire weather concerns. Friday stays mostly cloudy with highs in the low 50s. The weekend brings active weather again — Saturday sees highs in the low to mid 50s with a chance of rain and snow, then Sunday turns much colder with highs in the 40s.

Enjoy today's warmth while it lasts — Tuesday's storm will remind us it's still March.

See you this afternoon.

Good afternoon. Iowa. I'm Matt Mullins.

Step outside right now and you'll feel spring arriving early. We're sitting at 53 degrees. And we're just getting started.

Sunshine takes over this afternoon with highs climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s. Sioux City hits 72 — the warmest spot in the state. Des Moines tops out near 68. Down in the Quad Cities. Here comes 64. Eastern Iowa settles around 65.

But here's the catch. Southwest winds gust to 25 or 30 miles an hour this afternoon. Humidity drops to 30 or 40 percent. That combination creates elevated fire danger across snow-free areas. If you're planning any outdoor burning, hold off today.

Tonight stays mild with mostly clear skies. Lows drop to the low to mid 40s statewide. Winds ease a bit but remain breezy.

Monday brings even more warmth. Highs push into the low 70s across most of Iowa under sunny skies. We're talking near-record territory for early March. Des Moines could hit 72. That's 25 degrees to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Tuesday starts warm with highs near 70, but a storm system approaches from the southwest. Showers and thunderstorms develop Tuesday afternoon into evening, especially across southern and eastern Iowa. Some storms could be strong.

Behind that system, temperatures crash. Wednesday sees rain mixing with snow as colder air rushes in. Highs only reach the mid 40s with blustery northwest winds. Snow accumulations look light — less than an inch for most areas.

Thursday rebounds into the upper 50s with partly sunny skies. Friday stays in the low to mid 50s with another chance for light rain or snow.

Don't forget — clocks spring forward tonight. You'll lose an hour of sleep, but we're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now.

See you this evening.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside and you'll feel spring flexing. Currently 38 degrees, but — we're about to launch into the 60s and 70s.

Sunshine dominates today with southwest winds gusting to 30 miles an hour. Western Iowa leads the charge, topping out at 71 degrees. Central areas hit 68. Eastern spots and the Quad Cities reach 65. That's 25 degrees to 20 degrees above normal for early March — the kind of warmth that tricks you into thinking winter's over.

But those gusty winds bring a catch. Humidity drops to 30 percent this afternoon. Fuels are bone dry. Fire danger climbs to very high across snow-free areas. If you're burning brush, be extremely careful. This isn't the day to test your luck.

Tonight stays mild. Mostly clear with lows in the low to mid 40s statewide. Winds remain breezy, gusting to 25 miles an hour.

Monday pushes even warmer. Sunshine continues with highs climbing to 72 degrees in central Iowa, 70 in the east, 69 out west. We're flirting with record territory — some spots could challenge daily highs set decades ago.

Tuesday brings the week's warmth peak. The Quad Cities could hit 76 degrees. But that warmth comes with a price. A storm system arrives Tuesday afternoon. Rain develops, with thunderstorms likely by evening across southern Iowa. Heavy rain is possible — some areas could see one to three inches.

Wednesday turns messy. Rain transitions to snow as cold air rushes back. Highs only reach the mid to upper 40s.

The rest of the week stays cooler but dry. Thursday rebounds to the upper 50s to mid 60s. Friday brings partly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 50s.

Enjoy the warmth while it lasts — Tuesday's storm will remind us it's still March.

See you this afternoon.

Good evening. Iowa. I'm Michael Nally.

Step outside and you might still feel that crisp morning bite, but don't let it fool you. We're sitting at 33 degrees right now, but the script is about to flip in a big way. The stubborn gray clouds are breaking up, pushing out of the west. And sunshine is taking over. Des Moines, you're already seeing blue skies, while Cedar Rapids catches up by mid-afternoon.

Here comes the warmth. Western Iowa is already leading the charge at 35 degrees, but nobody stays put today. Tonight doesn't bring cooling — it brings climbing. Winds shift southwest after sunset. And temperatures actually *rise* while you sleep. You'll wake up to the upper 30s statewide, with Sioux City hitting 39.

Sunday is where the real show starts. We're talking *seventies*, folks. Western Iowa surges to 72 degrees — that's 26 degrees above normal. Even Eastern Iowa joins the party at 66. It’s going to feel like opening a pizza oven out there. Just keep a grip on your hat — gusts hit 30 miles an hour, creating dangerous fire conditions. Absolutely no outdoor burning today.

The heat sticks around for Monday, flirting with record highs near 70. But enjoy it, because Tuesday brings a reality check. A storm system rolls in with drama: Southern Iowa gets thunderstorms, while Northern Iowa sees a wintry mix. We crash back to the 40s by Wednesday. The Iowa River at Marengo is even under a Flood Watch starting midweek.

Take advantage of this preview of summer — get that grill out or go for a bike ride, because winter isn't quite done with us yet.

See you tomorrow.

      <itunes:title>Iowa Weather 3/7 Morning - Sunshine Shock & Freeze Tonic</itunes:title>

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

You woke up to a damp, gray world this morning. That rain overnight left everything slick, but here’s the good news: the sun is fighting to break through.

Let's take a trip statewide. Out west, you're winning the temperature lottery today. Council Bluffs and Sioux City hit **51 degrees** — a solid 26 degrees warmer than normal. But hold onto your hat. Winds are breezy at **10 to 15 miles an hour**, gusting to **25**. Tonight, you dip to **34 degrees**, but don't get used to it. Temps actually *rise* overnight into the upper 30s. By tomorrow? **70 degrees.** Summer preview, anyone?

Des Moines, you’re stuck in the middle today. Highs top out at **50 degrees**, but here’s the catch: temperatures *fall* through the afternoon. Northwest winds at **9 to 15 miles an hour** make it feel chillier. Tonight, we clear out to **38 degrees**, but like the west, you warm up overnight to **49 degrees** by sunrise. Sunday is your payoff: **66 degrees and sunny.** It’s going to be gorgeous.

Over in the east. Cedar Rapids and Dubuque are dealing with the coolest air. Highs struggle to **46 degrees**. With northwest winds howling at **15 to 20 miles an hour**, gusting to **30**, it feels downright raw. The Quad Cities might see a sprinkle through **9 A.M.**, but you stay dry after that. You drop to **34 degrees** tonight, then climb back into the upper 30s. Sunday brings a dramatic turnaround: **mid-60s** and full sunshine. Almost like someone flipped a switch.

Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Sunday is the star of the show — statewide **60s and 70s** with full sunshine. Records could fall. Monday stays warm in the **70s**, but a cold front sweeps in Tuesday with showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could pack a punch. Wednesday cools us back to the **40s and 50s**. And up north, that rain might even mix with snow. We rebound slightly Thursday and Friday, but clouds linger.

Watch for black ice on bridges this morning. If you're driving a high-profile vehicle, keep a firm grip on that wheel.

See you tomorrow.

See you this afternoon.

      <itunes:title>Iowa Weather 3/6 Morning - Record Cold</itunes:title>

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

If you stepped outside early, you already know. Over an inch of rain in 24 hours. And we're sitting at 51 degrees in the middle of thunderstorms. The soggy part? Still rolling.

Right now, storms are packing small hail up to quarter size. The real threat is heavy rain — visibility drops fast when these cells push through. Most of this clears north by mid-morning, but don't get comfortable. The main event is still hours away.

Here's what's building. A Colorado low is tracking northeast, dragging a cold front behind it. By late afternoon, surface-based storms fire up over western Iowa. We've got serious instability — 1000 to 1500 joules per kilogram — plus strong wind shear. Translation? Large hail, damaging winds over 60 miles an hour. And isolated tornadoes are all possible between 5 PM and midnight.

The Quad Cities could flirt with record highs near 72 degrees before storms arrive. Central Iowa hits 69. Eastern Iowa tops out at 68. Western Iowa stays cooler at 53 as the front crashes in faster there. Rain totals by Saturday morning could hit 1 to 1.5 inches statewide, with isolated spots seeing 2 or more.

Tonight gets tricky. That cold front crashes south. And northwestern Iowa faces a wintry surprise. Freezing rain develops after midnight in Emmet. Palo Alto. And northern Kossuth counties. A tenth of an inch of ice is possible before it flips to snow by Saturday morning.

Saturday brings cooler air — highs only reach the upper 40s to low 50s with breezy northwest winds. Sunday flips the script. Sunny, breezy. And warm with highs in the mid 60s. Fire weather concerns may develop given the dry, windy conditions. Next rain chance arrives Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Stay weather-aware this evening. See you tomorrow.

Good afternoon. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside right now and you're sitting at 50 degrees. Mild. Quiet. Almost boring. Which is exactly what happens before Iowa weather decides to throw a party.

In the next 24 hours. This afternoon stays comfortable statewide. Western Iowa climbs to 62 with breezy southeast winds gusting to 25 miles an hour. Central Iowa hits 60. The Quad Cities and eastern areas settle into the mid to upper 50s. Partly sunny skies dominate, though some of that overcast sticks around in spots.

Tonight? That's when things get spicy. Patchy fog develops early, especially east of I-29. Then after midnight, thunderstorms roll across the state southwest to northeast. These aren't gentle spring showers. We're talking large hail as the primary threat overnight into Friday morning. Heavy downpours tag along for the ride.

Friday is the main event. Temperatures spike into the low 70s across much of Iowa — flirting with record highs. But that warmth comes with strings attached. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon into evening. The wild card? How much sun breaks through. Stay overcast and the severe threat drops. Get any clearing and the atmosphere destabilizes fast, bringing hail, damaging winds. And yes, even a tornado threat if conditions line up.

The weekend flips the script. Saturday clears out with highs around 51. Sunday turns gorgeous — sunny skies, mid 60s. Monday pushes back into the low 70s under sunshine before our next system arrives Tuesday with more rain.

Enjoy the calm today. Keep your weather app handy tonight and especially Friday. This one's got teeth.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That fog wrapping around your windshield? It's dense. Visibility down to a quarter mile or less across southern and eastern Iowa. Give yourself extra time this morning. The sun will burn it off by mid-morning.

In the next 24 hours. Right now you're sitting at 43 degrees. But this afternoon? You'll hit the upper 50s to low 60s statewide. Western Iowa peaks at 62. Central Iowa reaches 61. The Quad Cities and eastern areas top out around 57. That's 26 degrees to 26 degrees warmer than normal for early March.

Because tonight flips the script.

Thunderstorms roll in after midnight. We're talking a 90 percent chance of rain and storms between 1 and 5 A.M., sweeping west to east. Some could pack hail. Not the night to leave your car outside if you can help it.

Friday gets wild. Temperatures surge into the low 70s — near record territory. The Quad Cities could hit 74 degrees. But that warmth comes with a price. A cold front barrels through Friday afternoon and evening, triggering another round of storms. A few could be severe. Keep your weather radio charged.

The weekend brings relief. Saturday cools to the low 50s with clearing skies. Sunday warms back to the mid-60s under sunshine. Monday climbs near 70 degrees again.

Tuesday into Wednesday brings another system with rain and temperatures dropping back into the 40s.

Fun fact. Tonight's full moon will be shining through those approaching clouds. And the spring equinox is just two weeks out.

If you found this helpful, a quick rating really helps us out.

Good evening. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Tonight brings patchy fog statewide as moisture settles near the ground. Western Iowa drops to 35 degrees. Central and eastern areas hold closer to 41. The Quad Cities may catch a stray shower or rumble of thunder overnight.

In the next 24 hours. Thursday starts with fog burning off by mid-morning. Then we warm up fast. Western Iowa hits 64 degrees with gusty southeast winds. Central Iowa reaches 62. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities top out near 59.

But here's where the story shifts. Thursday night, a potent storm system arrives. Rain and thunderstorms sweep across the state after midnight. Some storms could be strong, with hail the main threat.

Friday is the headliner. Temperatures surge into the low 70s. That's roughly 25 degrees above normal for early March. The Quad Cities could challenge record highs. But with that warmth comes more rain and storms.

The weekend offers a breather. Saturday cools to the 50s with clearing skies. Sunday rebounds to the 60s. Monday pushes toward 70 again under sunny skies.

Then Tuesday, the other shoe drops. Rain returns. And by Wednesday, temperatures crash into the 30s and 40s. A rain-snow mix is possible. Two weeks until spring equinox, but we're getting a sneak preview before winter reminds us it's not done yet.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

Step outside and you'll feel like you're walking on a movie set. The entire state is wrapped in thick fog this morning. Visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less across northern Iowa, where a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 A.M. With temperatures sitting right at the freezing mark, watch for a few slick patches on the roads. We're currently at 39 degrees under those low clouds.

In the next 24 hours. Western Iowa wins the warmth prize today. You'll hit 55 degrees with that patchy fog burning off by mid-morning. Tonight stays dry with a low around 34.

Central Iowa remains gray and cloudy with a high near 51. Drizzle develops after 8 P.M. and lingers overnight. Low around 41.

Eastern Iowa starts with fog, then stays mostly cloudy. High near 52. Rain moves in after 11 P.M. Low around 41.

The Quad Cities deals with morning fog too. High near 49 under cloudy skies. Rain chances increase after 10 P.M. With a low around 42.

Thursday brings a big warm-up. Western Iowa hits 64 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Central Iowa reaches 63 with morning fog giving way to sun. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities top out in the upper 50s with some lingering clouds.

Here's the pattern for the week ahead. A potent storm system arrives Thursday night into Friday. Showers and thunderstorms are likely. And a few could be severe with large hail possible. Friday sees highs surge into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees — that's about 20 degrees above normal for early March. The weekend turns cooler but pleasant, with sunshine and highs in the 50s and 60s. Another chance of rain arrives by Tuesday.

Tonight's full moon will have to compete with all those clouds. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now, with the spring equinox just two weeks away.

Good evening. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That gray blanket outside your window? It's not going anywhere fast. We're sitting at 40 degrees under stubborn overcast skies, but the real trouble tonight is what you can't see. Fog is quietly settling in across the state.

In the next 24 hours. Northern and eastern Iowa, take note. A Dense Fog Advisory kicks in at 10 P.M. For areas like Decorah and Charles City. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less. If you're driving late, you'll want to stick to those low beams.

Central Iowa holds onto mostly cloudy skies tonight with a low around 36 degrees. You might catch a little drizzle toward morning. Wednesday starts with patchy fog before climbing to a high near 50.

Eastern Iowa dips to 31 degrees overnight. Watch out — that's cold enough for any fog to create icy spots on untreated roads. The mist rolls in after 1 A.M. and lingers through mid-morning. Wednesday rebounds to 50.

Western Iowa sees the clearest break. Mostly cloudy tonight with a low of 32, then partly sunny skies by Wednesday morning. You'll hit 55 degrees — the warmest spot in the state.

The Quad Cities sit at 34 degrees overnight with rain picking up by morning. Wednesday stays cooler there, topping out near 51.

Looking ahead, we're in for a wild ride. Thursday jumps into the low 60s. Friday? We're nearing 70 degrees with thunderstorms. Some could be severe, with large hail possible — nearly 29 degrees above normal for early March.

The weekend clears out beautifully. Saturday and Sunday look sunny with highs in the mid-50s to mid-60s. Monday pushes right back toward 70.

Full moon tonight, by the way. If the fog lifts long enough, it'll be worth a look. Sunrise is at 6:47, sunset at 6:08 — we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day now.

Charge your phone before bed tonight. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.

Good morning. Iowa. I'm Aaron Jolly.

That gray ceiling overhead? It’s not moving. A massive deck of low clouds surged north from Missouri and Kansas overnight. and now it's parked directly over Iowa. High pressure over Minnesota is trying to feed us some dry air, but frankly, it’s losing the battle.

In the next 24 hours. You'll step out to 31 degrees under heavy overcast skies. and don't expect a dramatic warm-up. Southeast winds at 5 to 10 miles an hour are dragging in that moisture, keeping things damp and raw.

Central Iowa climbs to 44 degrees today, but you won't see much sun. Drizzle develops after 11 P.M. As temperatures hold near 36. Eastern Iowa catches a few early breaks, but clouds thicken fast. You hit 43 before rain chances increase after midnight with a low of 33.

Western Iowa stays stuck in the clouds with a high of 43. Watch for drizzle late tonight as temperatures dip to 32 degrees. That could put a light glaze on surfaces by morning, so take it slow on the roads. Down in the Quad Cities, you'll see 44 degrees with a few early sun breaks. Rain likely moves in after 1 A.M. With a low of 35.

Looking ahead. Tuesday stays drizzly and raw. but then, things get interesting. By Thursday, western Iowa hits 67 degrees. Friday could reach 69 in the Quad Cities with thunderstorms in the mix. That's nearly 29 degrees above normal. We're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day now. and spring is definitely waking up.

Keep that umbrella handy. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.

A narrow band of snow is sliding through southern Minnesota right now. and it's just barely clipping Iowa's northern edge. If you're near the Minnesota border — Estherville. Mason City — you might see light flurries this morning. We're talking under an inch. The rest of the state? Completely dry.

In the next 24 hours. Step outside and you're looking at temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Western Iowa starts coldest at 25 degrees. Central Iowa sits at 29. The Quad Cities wake up to 26. All under mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.

Today's high temperatures tell an interesting story. Western Iowa climbs to 46 degrees — the warmest spot in the state. Sunny skies and a light southerly breeze get you there. Central Iowa hits 45 with mostly sunny conditions. The Quad Cities reach 41 under mostly cloudy skies. Eastern Iowa lands at 38 with partly sunny skies and maybe a few flurries between 8 A.M. and 10 A.M. — but most of you stay dry.

Tonight, temperatures plunge. Western Iowa drops to 14 degrees. Central Iowa falls to 19. Eastern Iowa hits 17. The Quad Cities settle at 20.

Sunday brings mostly cloudy skies statewide. Highs range from 31 in western Iowa to 36 in the Quad Cities. Southern Iowa has a slight chance of light snow — under half an inch possible. Most of the state stays dry again.

Sunday night into Monday, a weak system tries to push north from Missouri. Southern counties near the border might see an inch of snow. Tuesday onward, everything changes. Southwesterly flow takes over. Temperatures surge into the 50s, possibly hitting 60 by late week. Rain moves in. Thunderstorms become possible. Spring-like weather settles in for the rest of the week.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.

Step outside and you'll feel 26 degrees with a bite. But hold on.. Because by this afternoon, you're hitting 49. That's a 23 degrees climb in just a few hours.

Western Iowa, you're the star of the show today. Starting at 24 degrees this morning, you'll surge all the way to 59 by mid-afternoon. That's shorts weather if you're brave enough. Central Iowa, you're at 26 now and headed to 49. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities wake up coolest at 22, but you'll still reach the upper 40s.

One thing to watch: dense fog is hugging northwestern Iowa and the Minnesota border this morning. If you're driving early, slow down. Visibility drops fast. The fog should burn off by mid-morning as southwest winds pick up.

Tonight stays mild. Lows around 30 degrees statewide under mostly clear skies.

Friday pushes even warmer.. Upper 50s to mid 60s across the state. Western Iowa could touch 64. But breezy west winds gusting to 30 miles an hour will keep it from feeling quite that warm.

Saturday cools off. Highs in the mid to upper 30s. Northern Iowa has a slight chance of light snow, but most of us stay dry.

Sunday is the one to watch. A system approaches with snow likely across central and eastern Iowa. We could see 1 to 3 inches in some spots. The track is still uncertain, so I'll keep you posted.

Monday and Tuesday bring mostly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Another rain and snow mix arrives late Monday into Tuesday.

Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th.

That crisp blue sky you're seeing right now? Don't get too attached. Snow's coming. And it's going to mess with your evening plans.

Out west, you're up first. Snow starts rolling in around noon and peaks at 3 P.M. Des Moines hits 37 degrees by 2 P.M. before things get messy. The good news? Barely any accumulation. Think dusting, not disaster.

Central Iowa, you're in the thick of it. Snow develops by 4 P.M. and peaks around 6 P.M. — right when you're trying to get home. Expect 1 to 2 inches by morning. Highs reach 33 degrees around 2 P.M. Not terrible, but those roads are going to be slick.

Eastern Iowa gets a later start. Snow holds off until 8 P.M., peaking around 9 P.M. Highs hit 32 degrees by 4 P.M. But here's the kicker.. It'll feel like 10 degrees at 8 A.M. That's the kind of cold that makes your coffee freeze on the walk to the car.

Quad Cities, you're last in line. Snow runs from 9 P.M. to midnight, peaking around 10 P.M. Highs climb to 38 degrees by 4 P.M.

Now here's where it gets interesting. Thursday and Friday bring a serious warm-up. Western Iowa could hit 58 degrees Thursday. Friday sees highs in the upper 50s to low 60s statewide. That's 15 degrees above normal for late February. Winter's identity crisis continues.

But don't pack away the parka yet. Another system arrives Sunday with snow and highs back in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Today's sunrise is at 6:57 A.M. Sunset at 6:01 P.M. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now.

Drive carefully tonight. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.

Step outside right now and you're at 20 degrees. Cold, gray, typical February. But here's the thing.. By this afternoon, parts of Iowa are jumping 30 degrees. Winter's losing its grip fast.

Western Iowa gets the wildest ride. You're starting at 22 degrees around 5 A.M. By 2 P.M.? You hit 54 degrees. That's a 32 degree climb in nine hours. Winds flip south to southwest around 9 A.M., gusting to 15 miles an hour by 11 A.M. Those snowbanks are going to melt fast. Tonight drops back to 23 degrees, with a slight chance of light snow or rain after midnight.

The Quad Cities see 45 degrees by 3 P.M., but southwest winds roar at 10 to 20 miles an hour, gusting to 35. That's the kind of breeze that'll rip the newspaper right out of your hands. Tonight falls to 22 degrees, then climbs slightly overnight. A narrow window for light snow opens Wednesday night, but nothing major.

Central Iowa plays it cooler. Highs only reach 39 degrees by 4 P.M., with steady south winds around 8 miles an hour. The real action arrives tomorrow. A band of snow moves in Wednesday afternoon, dropping temperatures through the day. By Thursday morning, you could wake up to a fresh dusting.

Eastern Iowa mirrors the center, but windier. Clouds hold highs to 40 degrees. Winds shift south to southwest around noon, gusting to 35 miles an hour. Strong enough to send loose branches tumbling. Wednesday night brings the best chance for snow. One to 2 inches possible south of Highway 30. North of there? Maybe a dusting.

Here's your week ahead. Today's warmth vanishes Wednesday when that snow band sweeps through. Thursday rebounds to the 40s. Then Friday delivers a shock. Highs surge into the 50s and low 60s. Yes, 60s in February. The weekend crashes back to reality. Highs in the 30s with scattered light snow Saturday and Sunday.

One thing to watch. With 5 inches of snow still on the ground, today's warmth creates slushy surfaces. Those puddles freeze overnight into black ice.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd.

Five degrees. Wind chills at minus nine. Your car groaned when you started it this morning, didn't it? That's the cold we're working with right now.. But folks, this is just the opening act.

Today stays brutal. Central Iowa barely cracks twenty-one degrees by four P.M. Eastern Iowa? You'll hit twenty-two around two P.M. Western Iowa does a bit better at twenty-seven by three P.M.. And the Quad Cities matches that. Light winds for most of us, though the Quad Cities sees gusts to fifteen miles an hour early.

Here's where it gets weird. Tonight, temperatures actually *climb* while you sleep. Central Iowa drops to twelve around six P.M., then rises to twenty-one by morning. Eastern Iowa falls to thirteen before warming to seventeen overnight. Western Iowa dips to eighteen, then jumps to twenty-four. The Quad Cities? Sixteen early, then eighteen by dawn.

Tuesday is a forty-degree swing. Central Iowa hits forty-two. Eastern Iowa reaches forty-three. Western Iowa? Fifty-four degrees. Quad Cities at forty-nine. But those warm temps come with gusty winds — up to thirty miles an hour — creating fire weather conditions. No burn piles tomorrow.

Wednesday, a cold front crashes the party. Temperatures drop back to the thirties and forties. And Wednesday night into Thursday? We're tracking a snow system. One to three inches possible in Eastern and Central Iowa. The track is still uncertain, so this could shift.

Friday warms back into the fifties before another cooldown this weekend. Light snow possible Sunday.

Five degrees to fifty-four in thirty-six hours. Only in Iowa.

Keep your phone charged tonight. This week's going to keep us busy.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd.

Step outside and you'll feel 10 degrees with winds trying to knock you sideways. Those gusts hit 30 miles an hour. And wind chills are making it feel like minus 10 in spots. This is the kind of cold that finds every gap in your coat.

Western Iowa gets the best deal today — sunshine pushes you to 26 degrees around 4 P.M. But don't get comfortable. By 5 A.M. Monday, you're back down to 2 degrees. Central Iowa tops out at 22 around 4 P.M., then crashes to 5 degrees by 4 A.M. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities stay coldest — just 18 degrees around 2 P.M., then 7 degrees overnight. Cover that skin if you're heading out tonight.

Monday brings calmer winds and a bit more sun, but we're still stuck in the 20s. Then Tuesday? Everything changes. Highs rocket into the 40s and 50s. Western Iowa could hit 54 degrees. The Quad Cities climb to 48. That's a 30 degree swing in 24 hours.

But here's the catch — a storm rolls in Wednesday night into Thursday. Rain and snow move through, with eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities most likely to see 1 to 3 inches of snow. Thursday morning's commute could get messy, so plan ahead.

Friday cools back down, then we rebound again by Saturday with highs back in the 50s. A few snow showers could linger into the weekend, but nothing major.

One bright spot — we're gaining 2 minutes and 41 seconds of daylight today. Sunrise at 7:01 A.M., sunset at 5:57 P.M.

Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your week, share it with someone who could use a heads up.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and folks, Iowa woke up mean today.

Step outside and you'll feel it instantly. Western Iowa sits at 10 degrees with a light northwest breeze at 5 miles an hour. Central Iowa reads 11 degrees. Not much better. Eastern Iowa hits 13 degrees, but gustier winds at 10 miles an hour make it sting. The Quad Cities claim bragging rights at 14 degrees, though that's like winning a contest nobody entered.

Here's the deal on highs today. Western Iowa struggles to 18 degrees. Central Iowa barely touches 20. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities top out near 22. That's the kind of cold where your car door handle fights back. Sunrise hits at 6:32 A.M., and here's your silver lining. We're gaining 2 minutes and 52 seconds of daylight. Winter's grip is loosening, even if it doesn't feel like it yet.

Tonight the real bite arrives. Lows plunge to minus 2 out west. Central Iowa drops to zero. Eastern Iowa holds at 3 degrees, Quad Cities at 4. Winds ease up, but that means patchy black ice on untreated roads. You'll want to take it slow if you're heading anywhere after dark.

Sunday's a carbon copy. Sunny skies, mid 20s statewide. Perfect for watching football from the couch with zero guilt.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. This cold, dry pattern isn't budging. No snow, no thaw. Highs creep toward the upper 20s by Tuesday, which almost feels tropical compared to today. Then another cold snap rolls in Thursday. Think of it as winter reminding us who's boss.

One more thing. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there, folks. Bundle up!

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and you're listening to the 6 AM Iowa Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 16th.

Folks, grab that coffee and let me paint the picture. Step outside right now and you'll feel the mid teens. Not terrible. Not friendly either. The kind of cold where your car door handle sticks just enough to annoy you.

Here's the deal. We're gaining almost three extra minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:33, sunset at 5:18. Those little wins matter in February.

Now the weather story. Western Iowa is the wild card. A slight chance of flurries riding in on northwest winds. Nothing to cancel plans over. Just enough to dust your windshield. Highs near 34 degrees out there, dropping to 19 tonight.

Drive east toward Des Moines and central Iowa climbs to 35 degrees. Partly cloudy. Northwest winds at 9 to 16 miles an hour. Tonight you're looking at 18 degrees.

Keep rolling toward Cedar Rapids and eastern Iowa runs a touch cooler. Highs near 32 degrees with gustier winds, 15 to 20 miles an hour. That wind finds every zipper gap. Lows tonight hit 16 degrees.

The Quad Cities? Windiest spot in the state today. Highs reach 38 degrees, but west winds at 15 to 25 miles an hour will steal that warmth right off your face. Tonight drops to 22 degrees.

Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Saturday brings sunshine and mid 30s statewide. Sunday nudges toward 40 degrees. Both days dry. Perfect weekend to get outside if you bundle up. Early next week stays quiet with temperatures hovering near normal. No major storms on the radar through Wednesday.

Air quality is moderate today, so if you're sensitive, you'll want to take it easy outside.

One more thing. If this podcast helps you start your morning right, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going.

I'll be back at 9 AM with your next update. Stay warm out there and enjoy that extra daylight!
