I think a lot of us are lonely.

Not just relationship lonely, but community lonely.

Everybody’s busy. Everybody’s healing. Everybody’s surviving. Everybody’s working. Everybody’s overstimulated.

And somehow we’re more digitally connected than ever but emotionally disconnected in real life.

So my question Do Black millennials still feel connected to community anymore? Or are we all quietly doing life alone?

A lot of us are questioning everything we were taught about love.

Marriage.

Gender roles.

Submission.

Softness.

Provider culture.

Emotional vulnerability.

Even what commitment is supposed to look like.

So my question is: What is your ideology on love?

Is your view traditional? Modern? A mix of both? Or are we all just trying to unlearn survival-based relationships in real time?

A lot of Black millennials are becoming the first in our families to do things differently — emotionally, financially, mentally, even relationally.

Some of us are learning boundaries when our families only taught sacrifice.

Some of us are choosing therapy over silence.

Some of us are unlearning survival mode while still trying to survive.

So tonight I want to ask:

Are you breaking generational curses in your family?

What does that actually look like for you?
