Glee on the Rocks: 5x20 Recap - “The Untitled Pigeon Project”

Mon, 24 Aug 2026 12:00:00 GMT

Season Five ends the only way Glee knows how: with everyone making enormous life decisions, several timelines that absolutely do not add up, and Rachel Berry apparently deciding that the Broadway dream she has spent five seasons screaming about was actually just a side quest. This is 5x20, "The Untitled Rachel Berry Project."

This episode, we break down:

📺 Rachel’s sudden pivot from Funny Girl to television, the fastest pilot development process in Hollywood history, and the growing suspicion that we’re no longer watching Rachel Berry so much as a story about Lea Michele.

🚌 Sam achieving his specific, measurable, achievable dream of being mostly naked on the side of a bus — while the episode also drops him into a genuinely ugly modeling-industry power dynamic and then barely gives us time to process it. Because it's Glee.

💔 Sam and Mercedes somehow becoming the most emotionally mature people on Glee, loving each other enough to admit that love doesn’t always make two lives compatible right now.

🐦 Blaine lies to Kurt, Kurt chooses to trust him anyway, and two horny pigeons give us one of the most inexplicable pieces of Klaine lore ever committed to television.

Plus: Mercedes takes America’s malls by storm, Mary Halloran writes approximately twelve television pilots in a week, and “Pompeii” plays us out as everyone scatters toward Season Six.

Thirteen episodes left. We can do this.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x19 - “Old People, Puppies, and Actual Continuity”

Tue, 09 Jun 2026 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee on the Rocks, we cover 5x19, “Old Dog, New Tricks,” the Chris Colfer-written detour that somehow works because it’s old people, puppies, and just enough Rachel to keep the season’s chaos limping forward.

Rachel tries to rebrand her image after Broadway gossip exposes her Funny Girl mess by hiring Santana as a ruthless publicist and inventing an animal-rescue charity event called Broadway Bitches, complete with a disastrous pap walk that ends with her getting dragged down the street by dogs. Correct, honestly.

Meanwhile, Kurt, feeling left behind while everyone else gets careers, scandals, showcases, and/or strange rich lady mentorships, finds purpose at the Lexington Home for Retired Performers. He auditions for Peter Pan, gets pulled into Maggie’s story, and makes one very questionable attempt to reconcile her with her estranged daughter. Sounds about Kurt.

And then there’s Sam, Mercedes, and McConaughey the dog, which gives us one of the rarest Glee miracles of all: someone remembering Sam’s actual backstory.

Also happening in this episode:

⭐️ Rachel Berry attempting public image rehab while continuing to be Rachel Berry
👠 Santana Lopez as unpaid publicist, crisis manager, and professional hater with a cause
🎭 Kurt joining a retirement home production of Peter Pan and accidentally pitching us a spin-off we would absolutely watch
🐶 Sam adopting McConaughey without asking Mercedes, and the surprisingly adult conversation that follows

Did we love every song? Absolutely not. Did every plot point make sense? Please, this is still Glee. But did we enjoy watching this one more than expected? Somehow, yes.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x18 - "The One Where Rachel Risks It All for No Reason"

Fri, 24 Apr 2026 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee on the Rocks, Rachel Berry gets everything she’s ever wanted and immediately decides it’s not enough. In 5x18, “The Back-Up Plan,” Rachel risks her Funny Girl dream for a TV audition she is wildly unprepared for, Kurt and Blaine get pulled into the deeply weird orbit of rich socialite June Dolloway, and Mercedes and Santana quietly become the only people in New York making choices with even a shred of common sense.

This episode we break down:
🎭 Rachel Berry speedrunning career self-sabotage
💎 June Dolloway spotting Blaine and deciding to adopt him as her own personal show pony
🎶 Mercedes and Santana saving the episode with basement harmonies and actual friendship
📞 Sidney Greene delivering the only appropriate response to Rachel’s nonsense
⭐ And an honestly wild number of guest stars for an episode that seems to have misplaced half the cast

We talk chaotic Broadway logic, deeply questionable TV ambitions, unsettling Shirley MacLaine vibes, and Rachel once again fumbling a dream people would kill for. Thank Barbra Mercedes and Santana are here to provide the only functioning brain cells in New York.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x17 - “Funny Girl, Serious Delusions”

Thu, 26 Mar 2026 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee, Rachel Berry finally makes it to Broadway — and naturally, everyone else is forced to treat it like the moon landing. In 5x17, “Opening Night,” Rachel spirals over bad buzz and opening-night nerves, Sue takes a deeply unnecessary field trip to New York, Kurt’s loft becomes a site of multiple crimes, and Will Schuester pops in just long enough to cry and leave. It’s Rachel’s big moment, and Glee makes sure absolutely no one gets out alive.

This episode we break down:
🎭 Rachel Berry’s opening-night ego spiral
📰 One bad preview and suddenly it’s DEFCON 1
🗽 Sue Sylvester’s cursed New York adventure

Is the episode a little self-indulgent? Of course. Is it also one of season 5’s more entertaining messes? Honestly, yes.

We wouldn't want Glee any other way.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x16 – “Cronuts, Chlamydia & Relationship Crimes”

Sun, 08 Mar 2026 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee, everyone gets tested — emotionally, medically, and our patience. In 5x16, “Tested,” Blaine spirals over a cronut-based body image crisis, Kurt enters his gym bro villain era, Artie discovers that sleeping with everyone at film school has consequences, and Sam Evans somehow becomes the only functioning adult in New York City. Yes. Sam Evans. Bless him.

This episode we break down:
🥐 Blaine vs. the Cronut Industrial Complex
💪 Kurt Hummel’s sudden transformation into That Guy from the gym
🦠 Artie Abrams and the extremely literal STD storyline
🙏 Sam Evans praying in a bathroom and still making the best decision in the episode

We talk Klaine’s increasingly miserable relationship arc, the bizarre fat-shaming plotline assigned to an objectively fit man, and how an episode about sexual health somehow becomes mostly about… cronuts and insecurity.

Is it messy? Absolutely.
Is Sam Evans the moral center of the episode? Also yes.

Because it’s Glee.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x15 - "Hate Crimes as a C-Plot"

Mon, 05 Jan 2026 13:00:00 GMT

This week, Glee attempts a Very Serious Episode™ and somehow still makes it mostly about Rachel Berry. In 5x15, “Bash,” Kurt is the victim of a brutal hate crime, Blaine gets the worst phone call imaginable, and Burt Hummel shows up to remind everyone how emotions are supposed to work.

Meanwhile, Rachel declares war on NYADA because accountability is oppression, and Sam and Mercedes try to navigate race, dating, and New York City while Glee makes deeply questionable choices about everything. Because it's Glee.

This episode we break down:
🕯️ Hate crimes as a C-plot (???)
📚 Rachel Berry vs. the concept of school
💔 Klaine hurt/comfort doing the heavy lifting
🎤 Sam Evans committing crimes against social awareness (but we love him)

We talk uneven storytelling, surprisingly effective hospital scenes, why Burt Hummel is the only adult in the room, and how Rachel Berry somehow becomes the worst part of an episode that includes literal violence. (Are we surprised though?)

It’s not subtle. It’s not balanced. But it is very, very Glee.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x14 - "Blaine’s Gelmet & Other Crimes Against New York”

Sun, 16 Nov 2025 13:00:00 GMT

This week, we hit Glee’s big reset button as the show abandons Lima for New York — and immediately forgets how the big city works. In 5x14, "New New York," Rachel Berry gets chauffeured through Manhattan like she’s allergic to the subway, Kurt and Blaine enters their domestic sitcom era (complete with cursed pajamas and a SodaStream), and Artie learns that accessibility in NYC is a myth.

This episode we break down:

🛋️ Blaine’s fatal mistake: bringing home a couch from the street (never pick up fabric furniture)
💅 Rachel’s ongoing campaign to be truly insufferable
🎸 Elliot “Starchild” Gilbert, gone too soon sweet prince
🚇 Artie vs. the subway, round two (and somehow he wins with pepper spray??)

We also talk the Klaine divorce era, Darren and Adam Lambert’s glitter-rock detour, and why every Glee character should be sentenced to “straight to jail” for crimes against New York.

So join us for bedbugs, bad geography, and Blaine’s unholy Gelmet—because if Glee can survive this New York transition, so can we (do we survive? so they? we find out).

Glee on the Rocks: 5x13 - "New Directions" All Over Again

Sun, 05 Oct 2025 16:37:13 GMT

The end of an era—or at least it should have been. In Glee 5×13, “New Directions,” the Glee Club is officially over, Sue has won, and McKinley’s choir room gets packed up for good this time. But instead of a graceful farewell to the kids we know and love, we get an episode written like a series finale… even though the show still had another season and a half to go. Oh, Glee.

Join us (and we mean all of us) as we unpack the chaos: Holly Holiday roller-skating the Animal Husbandry Club into a bubble party, Tina incurring yet another head injury, Quinn and Puck getting back together for the thrill of it all, and Brittany gifting Santana “the lesbian of flowers." Meanwhile, Rachel and Santana feud, make up, and feud again—all while the writers bend over backwards to absolve Rachel of five seasons’ worth of sins. Not in our house.

We talk “Don’t Stop Believin’” attempt number 47, the farewell montage that really should have ended the series, and Sue’s shockingly heartfelt declaration of love (respect? enemies to lovers endgame??) for Will Schuester. It’s messy, sentimental, and pure Glee.

Maybe the episode wasn’t a delight—but we were. But we're biased.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x12 - "100", Part 2

Tue, 01 Jul 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Welcome back, Gleeks. You've made it to Part 2 of our look back at the 5x12, "100" - the 100th episode of Glee. We pick up right where we left off — the New Directions are still on life support, the Diva-Off is allegedly still a thing, and Rachel is still allergic to lasting character development.

💥 Part 2 Plot? Yeah, sure:

Mercedes finally tells Rachel that she’s the voice in her head that whispers doubt. Rachel responds with a line that’s basically “that sucks, I’m famous.” Classic Rachel Berry.
We get a “Defying Gravity” reprise that sparks no joy from us, a voting scene that makes no sense, and an immediate group decision to ignore the vote altogether. Classic Choir Room.
Coach Sue reveals Mr. Schue spent $2 million on nonsense like Katy Perry jungle sets and costumes, so the club is dead and in debt. Classic Mr. Schue.
April and Holly attempt a last-minute Glee Club rescue powered by vibes, fraud, and whatever’s in April’s bedazzled flask. Classic, April Rhodes.

But amidst the chaos of the 100th episode, one thing is certain: the Unholy Trinity are still perfect.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x12 - "100", Part 1

Mon, 23 Jun 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Buckle up, Gleeks—it’s the 100th episode, which means Glee is throwing everything at the wall to see what sings. Sticks! To see what sticks. This is a no-pun zone (allegedly). We’ve got a chaotic double-feature recap for you because everyone showed up for this one and we talked too long, so you’re getting Part 1 and Part 2. The algorithm says no one wants 2.5-hour episodes 🤷‍♀️.

In Part 1 of this very special (read: unhinged) 100th episode, New Directions is being shut down for real this time (no, seriously—for real), and suddenly everyone who graduated three years ago but never emotionally left is back in the choir room. Quinn’s here, Puck’s lurking, Mercedes is glowing, and Santana is serving full sass-per-minute per SAG-AFTRA guidelines.

💥 Plot? Technically, yes:

Sue’s destroying the glee club because she hates joy. Or music. Or teenagers. It’s unclear.
Will is spiraling but trying to disguise it as leadership.
Everyone’s singing songs we’ve already heard, now with 50% more nostalgia filters and wistful glances. (Spoiler: the OG versions were better.)
Rachel wants to rewrite history (again), Mercedes isn’t having it (again), and a sing-off happens that is somehow both unnecessary and essential to our healing.
Puck and Quinn have tension—the kind that says “we’ve made questionable choices before and might again”—and everyone agrees to just look the other way.

🎭 In short: Everyone is reflecting on how far they’ve come by pretending they never left. It’s self-indulgent, over-the-top, and completely on brand.

The glee club is dying but not quietly. And neither are we.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we just keep talking.

Glee on the Rocks: 5x11 - Glee of Angels

Mon, 07 Apr 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Did you know that there are show choir blogs? Neither did we. In S5E11, "City of Angels," we follow New Directions to Nationals of… whatever year this is in canon…to Los Angeles. Mr. Schue recruits Sam to be the New Finn (not to be confused with Blaine, who we all know to be the New Rachel), tasked with keeping up spirit and enthusiasm. The Hudson-Hummel clan is out in full force with the series' best parents, Burt and Carole, coming along for the ride and finally processing some long-overdue trauma.

Seemingly everyone starts to think about what they'll be doing after graduation (even the ones who aren't graduating), Marley gets some advice from Mercedes, and Blaine gets hit on by his new midgame (wait, did we say that?).

Join us as we journey through Finn's favorite songs and learn the fate of the Glee Club.

Glee on the Rocks: S5E10 - Gleeo

Fri, 07 Feb 2025 13:00:00 GMT

Have you ever wanted to spendmore time in your high school than strictly necessary? If so, this episode of Glee is for you. This isS5E10, "Trio." At McKinley, Tina, Blaine and Sam decide to the most of their last days of the school year by attempting to stage a "senior lock-in."

In New York, Rachel bonds with Elliott, which annoys Santana and sets off even further antagonism between Rachel and Santana and leads to Elliott quitting Pamela Lansbury. Won't somebody stop the fighting?

Fed up with Rachel and Santana (aren't we all?), Kurt announces he's started a new band with Elliott and Dani (remember her?) and they've already booked a gig. Will this help Rachel and Santana get their act together? Probably not permanently.

Glee on the Rocks: S5E9 - Gleenamies

Sat, 04 Jan 2025 13:00:00 GMT

Everyone's feuding again this week on Glee on the Rocks. This is S5E9, "Frenemies." Glee once again raises the age old question: are these people even friends at all? Probably not.

Artie and Tina, two of our New Directions OGs, compete for both Senior Class Valedictorian and a solo at Nationals. Which...is a like a week or two away. You'd think they'd have this set list locked up by now.

In NYC, Santana decides to audition for the role of understudy in Funny Girl. Rachel's Funny Girl. Rachel's dream role that only she gets to play, apparently. And Rachel takes it very, very well. (She doesn't.) This revives their own feud that has never actually died. (Remember how there was a whole Season 4 episode called Feud?)

Most importantly, who does a better "Don't Rain on My Parade"? Rachel or Santana?

Glee on the Rocks: S5E8 - Previously Unaired Glee-mas

Sun, 08 Dec 2024 12:00:00 GMT

Christmas is coming and what more could we ask for than a truly chaotic, non-canonical episode of Glee. This is the infamous S5E8, "Previously Unaired Christmas." While Glee's Christmas episodes are generally beloved by fans, this is not one of them.

In an alternate version of Lima, Ohio where The Glee Club gets things done, the New Directions are preparing for the Annual Christmas Decoration competition while also planning a living Nativity Scene for the school.

On the East Coast, Santana joins Rachel and Kurt for a New York Christmas and Rachel lands them part-time gigs as elves at a local mall. Unfortunately, the Mall Santa is a full-time creep who threatens to ruin their holiday spirit. Let's not take strangers home, kids.

Maybe this episode is camp or maybe it's just bad. That's for you to decide now.

Don't worry, at the end we share some of our Christmas movie recommendations for a much-needed palate cleanser.

Glee on the Rocks: S5E7 - Puppet Glee

Tue, 29 Oct 2024 12:00:00 GMT

Have you ever wondered what an episode of Glee would be like while crashed out on carbon monoxide poisoning? Well, now you know. This is S5E7, "Puppet Master." Blaine Warbler Anderson struggles to be seen as a leader of the New Directions despite his longevity in the club. A gas leak in the choir room leads to puppet-filled hallucinations that somehow leads to no one receiving medical attention.

Everyone's favorite tracksuit wearing principal Sue Sylvester embarks on a journey of femininity after someone calls her "one of the guys." Listen, it's hard to be a woman in a male-dominated industry.

Over in New York, Kurt has to balance ambition against collaboration and teamwork in his band, Pamela Lansbury, given Starchild's undeniable onstage presence.

And of course, this episode features one of the bottom 10 worst Glee performances of all time.

Glee on the Rocks: S5E6 - Gleein' Out

Fri, 20 Sep 2024 12:00:00 GMT

Billy Joel is next on the Glee Tribute Episode chopping block as the New Directions seniors remember it's almost time to move on out of McKinley High. This is S5E6, "Movin' Out." Graduation looms large (maybe larger than Nationals) and Blaine and Sam take a week off school to take a sneak peek at their upcoming lives in New York City.

Artie attempts to encourage Becky to take a chance on her own college dreams, while Sue Sylvester tries to keep Becky back in Lima as her secretary where she thinks it's safer for Becky.

The Marley-Jake-Ryder love triangle goes full cringe with public declarations of Big Feelings, roses in lockers, and both of the hosts of this podcast wish Marley would find someone better.

Glee on the Rocks: S5E5 - It's Got Bette Midler

Fri, 16 Aug 2024 12:00:00 GMT

Google searches for twerking peaked in August of 2013. So of course Glee dedicated an episode to it that aired in October of that year. This is S5E5, "The End of Twerk." Blaine gets caught throwing it back in the choir room, inspiring Mr. Schuester to attempt to incorporate the dance into The New Directions' repertoire. It goes just as well as you can imagine.

Unique struggles to to use the McKinley High bathroom that aligns with her gender identity, facing bullying and discrimination, a storyline that is remarkably (and sadly) timely even now. Despite the jarring tonal shifts, the plot line is handled with a surprising amount of sensitivity for a show known for...not doing that.

Rachel tries to convince Kurt to get tattoos in order to...be rebellious?

Glee on the Rocks: S5E4 - Pitting Women Against Each Other

Fri, 05 Jul 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee on the Rocks we're parsing one of the greatest questions of human history: are you a Katy or are you a Gaga? This is S5E4, "A Katy or a Gaga." Nationals is looming and the latest competition, Throat Explosion, are stepping on the New Directions' niche of being "outsiders." Instead of dividing the New Directions into boys and girls for this week's Glee Club lesson, Mr. Schue opts to separate them into "Katy Perrys" and "Lady Gagas" in order to push them out of their comfort zones. It makes sense in the episode...kind of.

Over in New York, Kurt Hummel is on a mission to get our of his own comfort zone and cross an item off his NYC bucket list by starting a band. Something he definitely has time for between work and classes. But the will the unforgettable and wildly talented Starchild (aka Adam Lambert) be too much for Kurt's ego to handle?

Also there's relationship drama, because of course there is.

So, are you a Katy or a Gaga? Or do you refuse to fit into the pop girl binary?

Glee on the Rocks (5x03): The Quarterback

Sat, 25 May 2024 14:57:21 GMT

This week on Glee on the Rocks we're talking S5E3, "The Quarterback." When a television show intersects with real-life tragedy, the aftermath can be a delicate dance between the narrative and respect. "The Quarterback" serves as Glee's heartfelt tribute to Cory Monteith and his beloved character, Finn Hudson.

As we navigate through the episode, we discuss how Glee chose to honor Cory and Finn's memory on screen, because these songs are not just performances; they're eulogies, farewells, and love letters.

We also look at the decisions made by the writers. Was it too soon to return to production? How do you craft a narrative around such a profound absence? And how do you move forward without forgetting?

Join us to remember and celebrate our Quarterback.

Glee on the Rocks (5x02): Glee in the Sky with Diamonds

Fri, 19 Apr 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Glee on the Rocks we're talking Season 5, Episode 2, "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds." The Glee Club is back on deck tackling the music of The Beatles in what is definitely not part two of the season premiere. Tina Cohen-Chang is on a quest for Prom Queen glory, but will a slushie catastrophe ruin her night? But at least she has the New Directions to back her up.

Over in New York, Rachel faces her own uncertainties as she waits for Funny Girl news while Santana is the first of the New York Crew to break-through with a paid gig.

Will Tina rise above the high school pettiness and drama (come on, it's Glee), and can Rachel Berry's Broadway dreams survive the cut (come on, it's Glee)? Guess you'll have to tune in to find out.

Glee on the Rocks: (S5E1) "Glee, Glee, Glee"

Sat, 09 Mar 2024 13:00:00 GMT

The halls of McKinley High are ringing with the first notes of a new season of Glee. This week we're talking Season 5, Episode 1, "Love Love Love." The New Directions are given one of their biggest assignments yet: The Beatles. Mr. Schuester has Nationals in his sights (though maybe not his timetable) and challenges the kids to master the Beatles' catalogue over two weeks. But one Blaine Anderson has even bigger things on his mind: a proposal that could change everything.

With Rachel's Broadway aspirations hanging in the balance and the Glee Club's chances to become a show choir dynasty closing in, this season is set up to be another chaotic ride through storylines and Glee's enduring quirks.

Glee on the Rocks: "Glee or Nothing" (4x22) Season 4 Finale

Sun, 25 Feb 2024 13:00:00 GMT

The final high notes have been sung, the last dance steps have been taken, and the curtain has fallen on another season of Glee. Grab your slushie and pull up a chair in the choir room, this week on Glee on the Rocks we're talking 4x22, "All or Nothing."

The Season 4 finale of Glee has arrived and we're here to break down all the show-stopping moments you've come to expect and we find out if our favorite glee club will triumph or fall flat. The New Directions are on the cusp of greatness, but before they can take the stage, they must navigate a minefield of personal challenges and unexpected twists. Brittany's startling academic revelation, the return of some beloved characters, and the pressure of performance all converge in a finale that's as unpredictable as a classic Sue Sylvester tantrum.

And of course we'll dissect that good ol' Glee dialogue that's so absurd it's genius, the song choices that will have you tapping your feet, and the writing decisions that will leave you scratching your head. It wouldn't be Glee otherwise.

Next up? Season 5. Damn.

Glee Out (4x20)

Mon, 15 Jan 2024 13:00:00 GMT

Happy 2024, Gleeks! Is everyone staying warm out there? For the new year we've got a new episode of Glee on the Rocks, and this one features Allison, our co-host of Pack Dynamics. And if you know anything about PD, you know we talk. So enjoy this extra-long episode.

This is 4x20, "Lights Out." A power outage at McKinley High inspires Mr. Schue and Finn to encourage the New Directions to "unplug" and go back to the basics by performing a set of acoustic numbers. Ryder continues to try and figure out who the mysterious Katie is. Meanwhile, in New York City, our beloved Isabelle Wright asks Kurt to volunteer at a Vogue.com charity event.

We're approaching season 5 of Glee, can you believe?

Sweet Glee

Sun, 12 Nov 2023 13:00:00 GMT

This is 4x19, "Sweet Dreams." The New Directions finally learn the theme of this year's Regional's - "Dreams," which is perfectly reasonable even though it's only days? weeks? before the performance and they probably should have been practicing for months now. Naturally everyone has an opinion on what they should perform - including sweet Marley, who's gone ahead and written original songs for the Glee Club. Meanwhile, over in NYC, it's time for Rachel "Barbra" Berry to audition Funny Girl, even though she's - let's say it again - a college freshman, but she does have a surprise support system on her side.

Glee What You Need to Say

Mon, 17 Jul 2023 14:56:25 GMT

*Content Warning - this episode deals with school shootings. If you'd like to skip it, please do and we'll catch you on the next one. Take care of yourself.*

This is 4x18, "Shooting Star." The members of the New Directions continue to prepare for Regionals, but a terrifying event occurs in McKinley, putting everyone's secrets, issues, and concerns into stark perspective. Meanwhile, Ryder continues to try and figure out who his mystery texting buddy is, but finds out that he's being catfished.

And the end of the episode, Emily and Bee decompress from this heavy mess of an episode by talking about Taylor Swift and other lighter topics. If you make it through, take a breath, turn on some tunes, look at some trees.

This is 4x17, "Guilty Pleasures." Sam and Blaine take the reins of the Glee Club, assigning the New Directions the task to tackle their musical guilty pleasures - the songs and artists they're too embarrassed to admit they love. Over in New York City, Kurt's guilty pleasure isn't a song at all and Santana finally reveals Brody's big secret to Rachel.

Glee vs. Coherent Storytelling

Thu, 13 Apr 2023 12:00:26 GMT

This is 4x16, "Feud." Close your eyes. Take it back to the early 2000s. The time of the great music feuds. *Nsync vs. BSB. Britney vs. Christina. Madonna vs. Elton John?? We guess this was a feud. And now, Finn Hudson vs. Will Schuester.

Tensions are still raging between Finn and Mr. Schue, so The New Directions force them into a lesson about famous music feuds in order to sing out their feelings. Sue tries to bring Blaine back to the Cheerios, while Jake and Marley's relationship hit the rocks. Over in New York, Santana uncovers Brody's side job.

Glee on Film

Thu, 16 Mar 2023 12:00:24 GMT

This is 4x15 - "Girls (and Boys) on Film." Glee hits us with another tribute, mash-up, and boys v girls episode all in one. Once more its the New Directions girls verses boys as they pay tribute to the music of the movies, you know, instead of rehearsing for Regionals. Over in New York, Santana is stirring things up in the Bushwick loft while Kurt starts to confront his feelings for Blaine.

Glee also celebrates their 500th song in this episode.

This is 4x14 - "I Do." This episode we're joined by a very special guest - Star aka Littlemissstar55 from Bookstagram. A fellow survivor of the Glee fandom, Star is here to help us break down the saphhic highs of this honestly pretty fun episode.

It's a Valentine's Day and wedding episode all rolled into one, so you know there's double the drama as New Directions alumni reunite for Will and Emma's wedding. Old relationships are rekindled while new ones just might be forged.

This is 4x13 - "Diva." In order to pump the New Directions up for Regionals, Finn challenges the Glee Club to find their inner Divas. Tina, still crushing hard on Blaine, crosses a line. Tired of Rachel's egoism, Kurt challenges her Midnight Madness - a fight club style sing-off between NYADA members. At least the music is banging in this episode.

Glee is But a Song

Tue, 15 Nov 2022 13:00:32 GMT

This is 4x11, "Sadie Hawkins." At a student council meeting, Tina works to organize a Sadie Hawkins dance at McKinley High. Meanwhile, Sam looks for evidence that The Dalton Academy Warblers cheated at Sectionals.

We talk with Jon about how we got into the Glee fandom, the evergreen rumors of reboots, and Jon pitches us an idea for a new segment: Celeste Watch (you might know her as Neck Brace Cheerio).

Life's But a Song is a bi-weekly podcast where Jon discusses musical movies or musical TV with guests.

The New Rachel (Was the Friends We Made Along the Way)

Mon, 11 Oct 2021 10:00:00 GMT

This is 4x01 - "The New Rachel." The new season begins with old friends and new faces, and a whole lot of storylines, as Glee attempts a soft reset. Back in good old McKinley High, the Glee Club is both competing amongst themselves over who will become the new Rachel (instead of just being equal players) and holding auditions for new members. (S3E24) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - The Divine Move (Season Finale)

Wed, 18 Feb 2026 13:00:00 GMT

We made it to the season finale of Teen Wolf, but will the pack make it out? In 3×24 "The Divine Move," the pack go toe-to-toe (and claw-to-sword) with the Oni, but controlled this time by Void. They're taking every territory on the board — the Sherriff's station, the animal clinic, the hospital — and by the time they get to the school, our pack's had about enough.

While Derek and his small gaggle of ex-Alphas go face-to-face with Void and the Oni, Scott, Stiles, Lydia, and Kira head inside, and right into a winter garden of horror. There's flashbacks, there's an attempted ritual sacrifice, there's the birth of the Muderpod™, and no one can tell what's real.

Does Void-slash-The Nogitsune get transformed and irrevocably dusted? Does Isaac trap its weird, firefly soul in a box made of Nemeton wood? Does Derek get attacked in his own home by someone who was supposed to be dead and have a coma-esque dream that's eerily inspired by An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge?

Suppose you'll have to listen and find out.

xoxo,
Fandom on the Rocks

(S3E23) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Insatiable

Fri, 23 Jan 2026 13:00:00 GMT

In Teen Wolf 3×23, “Insatiable,” the pack is technically moving forward, but everything that matters is coming undone.

There are two Stiles and only one real one, and while our Stiles survives the oni test, the relief barely has time to land. Void Stiles still has Lydia, our Stiles remembers everything the Nogitsune did while wearing his body, and it’s becoming clear this possession has caused real, irreversible damage. Whatever is happening to Stiles isn’t just supernatural — it’s killing him. Not great news.

Lydia is taken to Oak Creek, trapped in echoes of past violence and repurposed as a supernatural alarm system. If the pack gets close, she’ll feel it — and the Nogitsune will know. It’s cruel, efficient, and exactly the kind of psychological torment Beacon Hills specializes in.

Back in town, Meredith Walker escapes Eichen House and reveals she can hear death before it happens, which is both incredibly useful and deeply bad news. At the same time, the twins are hunted with wolfsbane for reasons the episode refuses to explain, and Derek continues to appear exactly where the plot needs him, not where the emotional logic is begging for him.

At Oak Creek, the Nogitsune makes his biggest move yet by stealing control of the oni and turning Noshiko’s weapons against everyone. The fight erupts, and for one brief, shining moment, Alison Argent becomes exactly who she’s been training to be. She kills an oni with the silver arrowhead she made herself — a hard-earned, deeply deserved win.

Teen Wolf, of course, does not let that victory stand. An oni strikes back, and Alison is fatally wounded. Excuse us, but why??

Chris arrives too late, because of course. The Nogitsune disappears once again. And the pack is left shattered and grieving, staring down a finale that no longer feels uncertain — only inevitable.

“Insatiable” sets the endgame in motion in the most Teen Wolf way possible — messy, emotionally brutal, and light on connective logic. The board is set, the losses are real, and Beacon Hills reminds us, once again, that loving something in this town always comes with a body count.

xoxo

(S3E22) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - DeVoid

Wed, 24 Dec 2025 18:42:29 GMT

In Teen Wolf 3×22, “De-Void,” the pack is still trying to keep Stiles alive while the Oni keep dropping in like it’s a scheduled appointment. Sheriff Stilinski shows up at the loft hoping to save his son, and Void Stiles responds by calmly pressing every single Dad Trauma button he can reach.

Meanwhile, Noshiko confirms what we’ve all been dreading: the Nogitsune isn’t just haunting Stiles — it’s multiplying the problem. Void Stiles pulls the last tail and unleashes a swarm of flies that spreads across Beacon Hills, possessing basically anyone who stands still for too long.

Isaac wakes up and chooses violence, Derek gets infected through an open wound (no thank you), and the situation devolves into “who is possessed right now” chaos at both the Argents’ apartment and the school. Allison and Kira go full weapons-mode, because girls’ night in Beacon Hills is always a combat scenario.

Back at the McCall house, Deaton breaks out the kanima venom like it’s just another Tuesday, and Scott and Lydia go into Stiles’s mind to find the real him — where Stiles is playing Go with the Nogitsune on the Nemeton. Scott howls, Stiles looks up, and the board flips.

For a second, it works.

And then Teen Wolf reminds us it’s Teen Wolf: Stiles is back, but the Nogitsune slips out anyway and takes Lydia with it.

If the evil can leave, what else can it take?

xoxo

As We Go On We Remember

(S3E21) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - The Fox and the Wolf

Wed, 10 Dec 2025 13:00:00 GMT

Teen Wolf said “What if we combined wartime tragedy, supernatural lore, AND your unprocessed emotions?” and 3x21, "The Fox and the Wolf" was born.

This episode is a two-lane highway — half of it is Void!Stiles wreaking absolute havoc in Beacon Hills, and the other half is a 1943 flashback that turns the entire Nogitsune story into a tragic origin romance you absolutely were not emotionally prepared for (we weren't).

In 1943 we meet young Noshiko (played by Arden Cho, living her best multi-role life) and Corporal Rhys, the painfully adorable, utterly doomed soldier she’s secretly seeing.

Back in 2014, Kira learns her mother is 900 years old and also the original source of the Nogitsune (ouch). Meanwhile Void!Stiles is at peak chaos gremlin, politely bapping books off shelves like a feral library cat.

And just for fun, Teen Wolf drops a fandom bomb for the ages: Stiles has revised his supernatural metaphor chess set… and now Derek is the King. Are we not supposed to ship them?

We really are in the endgame now.

(S3E20) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Echo House

Wed, 26 Nov 2025 13:00:00 GMT

⚠️ Big content warning: this episode deals with suicide, abusive institutional mental health care, dubious sexual consent, and violence. Please take care of yourself.

Stiles checks himself into Eichen House after seeing an MRI that matches his mom’s… and absolutely no one (including us) thinks this is a good idea.

While he’s trying to survive the world’s worst psych ward — complete with Oliver, Morrell, Brunski, a broken pay phone, a hidden corpse, and one very determined Nogitsune — the rest of the pack is out hunting the missing Shugendō scroll.

Scott, Kira, Allison and Isaac end up in a full-on armored-car brawl with Kincaid, Chris and Derek are still locked up together (#EnemiesToLovers energy thriving), and Deaton is once again allergic to offering clear answers.

Inside Eichen House, Stiles and Malia break into the basement, uncover secrets behind the walls, and run straight into Oliver’s trepanation meltdown while a demon whispers riddles over Stiles’ shoulder.

This episode is chaotic, heavy, and unsettling from every angle — and our boy Stiles is at the center of all of it.

(S3E19) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Letharia Vulpina

Wed, 12 Nov 2025 13:00:00 GMT

This week on Teen Wolf, Dr. Deaton is in fact the world's only veterinarian, Derek and Chris accidentally become besties, and everyone else is having an absolutely terrible time.

In 3×19, "Letharia Vulpina," Stiles is missing (again) and we see some wonderful familiar faces. Fall sports are back at Beacon Hills and everyone's running cross country. Uncle Peter is back and he hits on Natalie. Jared-the-almost-bus-vomiter is back, except this time he has a Suspicious Package.

(No, seriously. It might explode.)

In other news, Allison and Lydia confront Peter for help and they end up with an enormous secret that Talia took to her grave. Derek and Chris are arrested together (#EnemiesToLovers) and end up in an explosion. Kira can catch a literal live wire in her hands, Isaac gets super burned, and the Die On Teen Wolf contest winner makes her debut.

Mrs. Yukimura breaks a tail, Stiles stabs Scott with a sword, and Deaton injects Stiles with the wolf lichen he stole from the Yakuza.

A totally normal day here on Teen Wolf, like you do. Next week: somehow, it gets worse.

That Thing Glee Do

Tue, 15 Jun 2021 13:00:00 GMT

This is S3E19, "Prom-asaurus." It's time for another Glee prom! As graduation approaches, it's up to Senior Class President Brittany to plan the best night ever for her pals and the school. Elsewhere, Blaine, Kurt, Rachel and others stage an Anti-Prom party in revolt. Rachel vies for Prom Queen against Santana and Quinn.

Kevin McScale: .75 - for showing up in the episode and being the 4th lead in "What Makes You Beautiful."
Klainedex: 6 - for being a couple, being over the top, being themselves, being boyfriends, and being supportive.
Coulda Shoulda Woulda Scale: they coulda just not rehashed the plot from Prom Queen.

(S3E18) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Riddled

Wed, 22 Oct 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Well. Stiles is having quite the bad day, isn't he?

In 3×18, "Riddled," Stiles goes missing and everyone searches for him. Scott, Isaac, Lydia, and Aiden all end up in his bedroom, investigating the murder board. The Sheriff bundles Scott and Isaac off to the station while Lydia insists on staying—the red strings have something to tell her. The APB turns up Stiles' jeep at the hospital, which Melissa proceeds to search from tip to tail.

Meanwhile, Stiles is stuck in a literal bear trap in some sort of dark, industrial basement, with a guy in a bomber jacket, heavily bandaged hands, and a mouth full of riddles around sharp, metal teeth.

Derek and Scott talk about chemosignals, Lydia hears an MRI machine in her mind, and, in the end, Stiles ends up in a coyote den.

If everyone has it, do you need to lose it?

(S3E17) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Silverfinger

Wed, 15 Oct 2025 12:00:00 GMT

You know what Teen Wolf needs more of? Lore.

In 3×17, "Silverfinger," we flash back in time to Chris Argent's first real gun deal, learning he's had more experience with the Oni than anyone expected. The Argent side of the McCall pack look to find an old contact named Katashi, who may have Very Important Lore And Information. In return, Chris plans to give him an old French rifle… which turns out to be a weapon used to murder a werewolf (huh, I wonder if that'll come back later).

Meanwhile, the McCall side of the McCall pack is trying to protect Scott from getting attacked by the Oni, and it's going swimmingly. Stiles is exhibiting all kinds of anxiety-inducing behavior, startlingly similar to a list of symptoms exhibited by his now-dead mother.

Agent McCall threatens the Sheriff and ends up with a gnarly shoulder wound (unrelated), Stiles checks himself into the hospital and ends up calling Melissa "mom" (unrelated), and, when approached by the Oni, Stiles seems to be the only one who can stop it before it draws the kanji on his head.

Weird. Probably nothing.

Mon, 05 Apr 2021 18:46:43 GMT

This is S3E17, "Dance With Somebody." The kids of McKinley celebrate the music of the legendary Whitney Houston with a second tribute episode in a row. Leave It To Glee-ver

Fri, 26 Feb 2021 15:45:34 GMT

This is S3E16, "Saturday Night Glee-ver." We've got another tribute episode on our hands as the Glee Club celebrates Disco and the John Travolta classic Saturday Night Fever. Mr. Schue is worried that Finn, Mercedes, and Santana aren't sure what to do post-graduation; Mercedes and Kurt meet a student looking for advice.

Kevin McScale: .25 - Uhm, we think he was in this episode.
Klainedex: 4 - Basically for the dip; they don’t sing to the each other, there's no duet, no conversation, but they do look at each other.
Coulda Shoulda Woulda: Shoulda had a real guidance counselor talk to Finn about his options.

(S3E15) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Galvanize

Wed, 10 Sep 2025 17:04:54 GMT

Don't get zapped!

In 3×15, "Galvanize," we meet child murderer William Barrow and, somehow, that's not the most disturbing thing about him. After escaping hospital custody via belly-full-of-flies (don't ask), he ends up on a greatest-hits-tour of Beacon Hills, ending up—where else?—but Beacon Hills High School.

Elsewhere, Scott and Stiles decide to make Coach's life a little more interesting during Mischief Night via office dissolution and Allison and Isaac maybe, kinda, sorta let loose a little of their romantic tension. The twins are back and want to join Scott's pack, and no one's sure if it's a good idea. Scott comes to Kira's house for dinner, Mr. Yukimura suggests Kira could date the coyote (we're in favor! Malira 4ever!), and Lydia keeps hearing flies.

This episode offers lots of good advice like: don't eat a whole chunk of wasabi at once; don't get kidnapped by a child murderer; and if you need to scream, let it out.

Ask the Anderbros Redux

Mon, 08 Feb 2021 13:00:00 GMT

This is S3E15, "Big Brother." McKinley High is all abuzz when Blaine's famous and handsome big brother, Cooper Anderson, arrives on the scene. Quinn returns following her accident and bonds with Artie during Senior Ditch Day, and Finn and Rachel experience trouble in paradise.

We're joined this episode by a special guest - Gigi aka Neaf.

The Indices

Kevin McScale: 5 - Artie had 2 songs, a whole plot, and was funny without being a dick. He was really at his peak here.
Klainedex: 6 - For Margaret Thatcher dog.
Coulda Shoulda Woulda: Cooper shoulda come back. Full stop.

(S3E16) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Illuminated

Wed, 24 Sep 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Mostly naked Halloween parties? Must be Beacon Hills.

In 3×16, “Illuminated,” the power’s out, but the drama is very much on. Special Agent Douchebag (McCall) drags our heroes in for way too many questions, Stiles finds a mysterious extra key, and Kira is running an evidence-lockup heist for her phone.

Across town, Isaac gets attacked by scary shadow monsters, Chris Argent stays frustratingly tight-lipped, and Derek disappears from his loft for “unknown reasons” (citation: Teen Wolf Wiki). But let’s be honest: what this episode is really remembered for is the glowing, neon-soaked blacklight party—conveniently relocated to Derek’s loft thanks to the magic of plot. While the pack gets hunted by faceless smoke monsters, we’re treated to a technicolor fever dream of body paint, flashing lights, and one of the best versions of the Teen Wolf theme song ever (shout-out to The Bloody Beetroots).

A rough, cold night for everyone.

(S3E14) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - More Bad Than Good

Wed, 27 Aug 2025 12:00:00 GMT

So, wait—this isn't the National Geographic channel?

In 3×14, "More Bad Than Good," the gang goes coyote hunting! Well, more accurately, they go coyote tracking, before Malia's father accidentally traps a kid (or his coyote daughter) in a bear trap.

(Spoiler alert: someone gets caught in a bear trap.)

Allison and Stiles are still very much suffering from the great heart darkness, while Scott seems to have mostly gotten over his. Derek gets rescued by a very helpful ally, but Peter may not get to come along. Get ready for silly, dog-related shenanigans, Kira being unbelievably cute, and some very excellent Stydia and Allisaac moments.

Time to add a new face to the pack!

Public Service Glee-nouncement

Tue, 19 Jan 2021 15:47:46 GMT

**Trigger/Content Warning: Discussions of a suicide attempt, bullying over sexuality, and major car accident**

This is S3E14, "On My Way." The New Directions battle The Warblers at Regionals in the mid-season finale of Season 3. Rachel and Finn are still planning to get hitched after the performance despite the very real misgivings of their friends and family. Dave Karofsky faces bullying at school while Quinn regains her status as a Cheerio.

The Indices

Kevin McScale: 2 - he was allotted some seconds of singing and one whole line
Klainedex: 6.5 - really solid and adorable background moments
Coulda Shoulda Woulda: Coulda be a great time to introduce Queer Quinn, and to hear more from the Queer characters in the emotional fallout of Karofsky’s suicide attempt

(S3E13) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Anchors

Wed, 13 Aug 2025 12:00:00 GMT

So, who's ready to talk about The Darkness Around Our Hearts?

What—you neither?

In 3×13 “Anchors,” Stiles is having dreams about Lydia and nightmares about doors, only to wake up and find he can't exactly read. Scott's attempting to transform at random, his shadow giving away his superpower, eyes flashing red, and he's feeling completely out of control.

(That is, except with the case of his best bud and roomie for life, Isaac—with whom he, uh—lets out a little Allison-related aggression.)

Allison's being plagued with memories of her Aunt Kate, who tries at one point to crawl out of a morgue drawer. Her steady bowman's hands can't hold a paintbrush or, it turns out, a bow, resulting in a near death experience for Miss Lydia Martin.

But yeah, they're fine. Totally fine.

We're introduced to an adorkable new love interest who's just as smiley about death as she is about everything else, including her new history teacher of a father. The sheriff's got a murder board (like father, like son), Special Agent Asshole is back, and Scott and Stiles go back into the woods to try and find a dead body. Again.

Oh, and Peter and Derek are tied to a chain link fence. For very important, plot-related reasons.

What will they think of next?

Rachel's dads discover Finn and Rachel's engagement and decide to throw a party at the Hudson-Hummels with underhanded intentions. Rory and Artie fight over Sugar Motta, and a secret admirer showers Kurt with attention.

Kevin McScale: 4 - he gets song and a storyline, not too shabby.
Klainedex: 8 - the tie-pulling makes it an 8, but loses a point for the lost kiss.
Coulda Shoulda Woulda: could have seen the Christian storyline told from the other side (the queer side).

(S3E12) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Lunar Eclipse

Wed, 16 Jul 2025 12:00:00 GMT

What happens to werewolves on the lunar eclipse? I hope it makes us stronger.

In 3×12, "Lunar Eclipse," Scott, Stiles, and Allison finally discover the location of the Nemeton, which definitely doesn't want to be found. Stiles and Allison, along with Isaac, find and rescue the parents in the Nemeton's root cellar, making the surrogate sacrifice worth it. Jennifer fights off against the Alphas, killing Kali and wounding the twins, making off in the night after Deucalion.

Will Derek and Scott help Jennifer with her ultimate quest for revenge? Does Scott actually become a True Alpha? Does Peter ever get past screaming very emotional lines directly into the camera?

The Unified Ricky Martin Conspiracy Theory

Mon, 07 Dec 2020 16:03:41 GMT

This is S3E12, "The Spanish Teacher." In an episode that hinges on the fact that Mr. Schuester is The Worst, we learn that there is a much more qualified Spanish teacher teaching night school at McKinley - David Martinez, aka Ricky Martin. Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester decides she wants a baby and goes after the Glee club boys for their, uhm, donations.

Kevin McScale: 2 - he was there, but it wasn't enough.
Klainedex: 2 - Blaine's not even in this episode, but he is referenced.
Coulda Shoulda Woulda Index: Okay but technically we could have had Ricky Martin the WHOLE TIME.

(S3E11) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Alpha Pact

Wed, 09 Jul 2025 12:00:00 GMT

In 3×11, "Alpha Pact," our characters must make some incredibly difficult choices to secure the safety of the ones they love. Scott is working with Deucalion to find his mother who has been kidnapped by Jennifer as a Guardian sacrifice, officially siding with the villain. Chris gives himself over to the Darach as the third and final Guardian sacrifice (in front of Allison and Isaac, no less!) to attempt to save Melissa and the Sheriff.

Morrell reveals some interesting, murder-y information about Deucalion and he is not pleased, obviously. Peter politely walks Derek to the emotional edge and Derek officially sacrifices his Alpha Spark to save his sister Cora. Oh, Derek.

However, all of this pales in comparison to the ritual in which Scott, Stiles, and Allison allow themselves to become surrogate sacrifices to save their parents. Come on, there's literally no other answer? Permanent darkness around your heart? Turning Beacon Hills back into a beacon for supernatural creepy crawlies? No one thought of anything better?

Also, this is the episode with the elevator scene. So, praise be.

This Does Not Spark Warbler

Tue, 17 Nov 2020 13:00:00 GMT

This is S3E11, "Michael." The New Directions run through a small piece of the Michael Jackson catalogue, while Kurt and Rachel get news about NYADA. Kurt and Sebastian fight for Blaine's affection and attention, causing a rift between the Glee Club and the Warblers that results in Darren Criss appearing on Broadway.

Also, Smooth Criminal. Which Mandy wouldn't understand because somehow she missed the MJ train. We forgive though.

This episode features returning guest Ambre, coming back to tell the facts about Samcedes.

Kevin McScale: 4.5 - he just needed a full plot to hit the full 5
Klainedex: 6 - they got minimal screen time, but the heart eyes adds key points
Coulda Shoulda Woulda Index: more Warblers, that's all

(S3E10) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - The Overlooked

Wed, 25 Jun 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Welcome back to Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital, where nothing good ever happens—ever.

In 3×10, "The Overlooked," the gang is trapped in the hospital between a rock and a hard place. Cora is very sick and Derek and Peter need Jennifer's help to cure her. But Jennifer won't help unless the werewolves protect her from the Alphas, who have finally come calling. We finally learn about Jennifer Blake's backstory—her history with Kali of the Alpha Pack, her past as an Emissary, and the sacrifices she's made to seek her revenge.

Unfortunately, we end the episode on Jennifer's next pick for a sacrifice and the decisions the pack will make to ensure they get home safely.

Kevin McScale: 5 - the ever elusive 5 for a full song and a real storyline. Congrats, Kev.

(S3E9) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - The Girl Who Knew Too Much

Wed, 11 Jun 2025 17:00:00 GMT

You didn't think werewolves were still the only supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills, did you?

In 3×09, "The Girl Who Knew Too Much," Allison and Isaac suspect Chris of committing the human sacrifices after finding an incredibly detailed map in his office. Scott and Stiles decide Lydia's newly hidden talent of… hearing things she doesn't understand and stumbling across dead bodies… will be helpful in infiltrating the Alpha Pack. Oh, and the fact that she's romantically entangled with one of them. That helps.

Unfortunately for Lydia, she makes a discovery that puts her (and Sheriff Stilinski) in mortal peril. Does Lydia's propensity for screaming mean anything? Does the Sheriff really make the perfect sacrifice? Is he ready to find out the truth about what really slinks around his town at night?

All we ever do is find the bodies.

(S3E8) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Visionary

Wed, 04 Jun 2025 12:00:00 GMT

In the time-honored tradition of not-telling-enough-story-per-season, it's time for a flashback episode!

In 3×08, "Visionary," we get the origin stories of both Derek Hale and Alpha Deucalion from two of the series' most unreliable narrators—Peter Hale and Gerard Argent (respectively).

In this episode, we learn all about Deucalion's past with the Hale Alpha, Derek and Cora's mother Talia, along with Deaton, Ennis, and Gerard. Is Deucalion really as ruthless and cruel as he seems? Is it possible that Gerard could get even worse? You'd be surprised. We get to see Derek awkwardly flirt while holding a basketball, sneak around abandoned locations after dark, and fall in love with a beautiful, snarky, beauty-marked (wait, this sounds familiar…) girl. Plus, we finally learn the origins of Derek's blue eyes!

Also, I guess we still have Emissaries? #MagicStilesForever

(S3E6) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Motel California

Wed, 21 May 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Get ready for one of the best episodes Teen Wolf has ever done. (No, really. Plus some major content warnings for suicide, self-harm, drowning, body horror, murder, and more.)

In 3×06, "Motel California," the team, plus the girls trailing in the car behind them, get caught in a massive traffic jam, causing them to hole up in a roadside motel for the night. However, due to spooky and horrifying circumstances beyond their control, they're confronted with personal horrors beyond their wildest dreams.

There isn't a lot of plot here to speak of, but we will get up close and personal with the psyches of each werewolf and the community that surrounds them. It's the closest we ever get to a Very Special Episode, so please take care of yourselves. We'll still be here when you get back.

Fierce, Femme, Phenomenal

Fri, 17 Jul 2020 13:00:00 GMT

Listener's Note: We recorded and edited this episode before Naya Rivera's tragic passing, which is why there's no commentary about it. We held off posting as we took time to deal and gather our thoughts.

The next episode is "I Kissed a Girl," which heavily features Santana in an important storyline. We're going to wait a little bit before recording it to give ourselves, and our listeners, a little more time to decompress. First we're going record a tribute episode of sorts - more on that soon. For now, please enjoy this episode and remember Naya in your favorite way.

This is S3E6, "Mash Off." The New Directions are still quibbling with The Troubletones and the only way to solve it is, you guessed it, a mash off competition. The result is one of the greatest Glee covers of the whole series: Rumor Has It/Someone Like You.

Kevin McScale: .5 - for injuring Darren during the dodgeball scene
Klainedex: 2 - one point for standing on the choir room chairs, and one for Blaine's face during the student council speech
Coulda Shoulda Woulda Index: 30s - the lack of an actual storyline with Rachel and Shelby; honestly would have paid money to see Finn lift Blaine a la Dirty Dancing

(S3E5) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Frayed

Wed, 14 May 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Two of our least favorite things — long bus rides and whatever blue filter editors add in post — combine in an episode that isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.

In 3×05, "Frayed," all of our favorite werewolves are having a horrible time on their long bus ride to a cross country meet, given their super-secret-stealthy fight with the alphas the night before. Isaac and Boyd are starting fights with the alphas, Scott is slowly dying from a very bad, alpha-inflicted wound, and Stiles is studying for the SATs. Luckily, the brains of the operation (Allison and Lydia) are following behind in a car. Good thing too, cause it turns out Scott's gonna need emergency roadside rest stop surgery!

Everything unfolds against the backdrop of a surprise attack against the Alpha Pack from the night before, where not everyone got out unscathed. Is Scott's wound ever going to heal? Is Derek actually dead? Is it possible that their horrible day is going to turn into an even worse, horrible, terrible, no-good night?

Grab your motion sickness bag, Jared. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

FotR

Make Art and Help People

Wed, 17 Jun 2020 12:00:00 GMT

This is S3E5, "The First Time." Power couples Kurt and Blaine and Finn and Rachel go down to bone town because the teenage director of their high school musical told them they should. Meanwhile, Dalton has a new Warbler in the form of one Sebastian Smythe, and the New Directions finally put on West Side Story without a single drama nerd's help. It's not half bad, actually.

Kevin McHale Scale: 3.5 - for screen time and storyline, but a downgrade for no song
Klainedex: 9.5 - we mean, did you SEE this episode??
Coulda Shoulda Woulda Index: 15 - honestly they needed to lose some more clothes

(S3E7) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Currents

Wed, 28 May 2025 12:00:00 GMT

We're moving on to Healers this week on Pack Dynamics - here's hoping they can get some help in time!

In 3×07, "Currents," the Alpha Pack continues to target Derek, but his betas have a plan. Not that we don't support flooding the loft and running electrical currents through it, but it seems like a risky plan to us. Especially because Derek lives so high up in the building. But we digress.

Dr. Deaton is abducted by the Alphas to become the third sacrifice, but Deucalion gives Scott just enough hints to be helpful. We learn more about telluric currents, about the potential of Scott's powers, and the lengths the Alpha Pack will go to to secure a new member of their pack.

Chris Argent has a cool UV-reactive map, Dr. Deaton has a sister (??), and we get the chance to say goodbye to two beloved pack members. It's a trip of an episode as we steadily click-click-click up the rollercoaster of season 3A.

(S3E4) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Unleashed

Thu, 08 May 2025 03:14:48 GMT

A new semester means a whole new boatload of trauma for our intrepid pack of werewolves (and friends!).

In 3×04, "Unleashed," we pick back up with the students who are finally coming back from their Summer of Hell (Boyd and Isaac), get to know our new nemeses from Hell (Ethan and Aiden), and… well, start running cross country to keep sharp for the lacrosse season (Scott). Deucalion tries to convince Derek that he must kill his own pack to join the Alphas and we learn some interesting things about the Hale Pack's old relations to this new alpha.

Meanwhile, Stiles and Lydia begin working with Deaton about what kind of new dark creature could be sacrificing people all over town and Lydia begins to fill her school notebooks with drawings of some kind of tree. Huh. Wonder if that'll be relevant.

Guard your Warriors this episode, friends. It's gonna be a doozy.

Fri, 15 May 2020 17:19:46 GMT

How's everyone coping? Good? Just okay? Climbing the walls yet? We feel.

This is S3E4, "Pot O' Gold." The Glee Project "winner" Damian McGinty arrives as exchange student Rory Flanagan, Father of the Decade Burt Hummel decides to run against Sue in the congressional race, and Shelby starts recruiting for the rival all-girl Glee club - The Troubletones.

(S3E3) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Fireflies

Wed, 30 Apr 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Gotta catch 'em all, Pokem— oh, no, wait. Wrong show. Oops!

In 3×03, "Fireflies," we follow Scott and Derek, who in turn are following Boyd and new character Cora, trying to catch these moon-crazed werewolves from causing death and destruction. Lydia, in search of ibuprofen, accidentally stumbles upon a dead body. (Hate to tell you, girliepop, this is a skill you'll get much better at over time.) Derek, along with his feral betas, traumatizes Ms. Blake, the new English teacher. Beacon Hills High after dark? Cannot be trusted.

Will Allison ever apologize for the role she played in helping her grandfather last season? Will one-L-Alison ever get over the death of her first-born daughter, Erica Reyes? Will anyone ever be able to go camping ever again? Are virgins safe from abduction and death?

We won't answer any of these questions, truly. But we'll sure talk about 'em.

Tue, 21 Apr 2020 15:36:21 GMT

Is everyone remembering to lotion up after washing your hands 54x a day? This is S3E3, "Asian F." In an episode touted as "Mike Chang-centric," we've got Mercedes tired AF of standing in Rachel's spotlight, Kurt and Blaine competing for the same role but being cute AF doing so, and Mr. Schue meeting Emma's rude AF parents. Also, Mike has parents!

(S3E2) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Chaos Rising

Wed, 23 Apr 2025 12:00:00 GMT

It's a girl's girl's girl's world here today on Pack Dynamics. In 3×02, "Chaos Rising," our intrepid pack looks to attend to two major problems. First, the matching bruises on Lydia and Allison's wrists might lead to something, but only if they figure out the pattern. Second, new character Heather is looking to lose her virginity at her Sweet Seventeen and picks our guy Stiles!

(Unfortunately for them, neither of these scenarios work out as planned.)

The race is on to rescue Boyd and Erica from the Alphas, but will the pack get there in time?

This episode is rife with fandom moments - from Isaac in the ice bath to Stiles and his very long gloved fist (and Derek's reaction to it) to everything about Coach Economist Bobby Finstock - and we'll dig into them all.

(Yes, including the sad ones.)

(S3E1) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Tattoo - Season Premiere

Wed, 16 Apr 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Welcome back, Pack! This is the Season 3 premiere of Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast.

It's a few months after the events of Season 2, and a pack of Alphas (an Alpha pack?! they can do that?) have arrived to wreak to complete havoc on Scott McCall's life. Because he cannot catch a single break (he's still bummed over his break-up with Allison). There are Werewolf Twins now. Who have names and we can definitely tell them apart. And a woman with wicked claws. And Deucalion - a big bad of the season.

Derek and Isaac have been searching for Erica and Boyd since the end of Season 2 and know that the Alpha Pack have them in their clutches. The search leads to Isaac getting roughed up a bit and the introduction of a new character on a motorcycle: Braedon.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war indeed.

Teen Wolf is back and Season 3 might just be the peak of the show. We're excited and we hope you are too.

Keep your pack close,
Emily & Alison

What About Breakfast at Tiffanys

Thu, 20 Feb 2020 15:43:30 GMT

We've made it to the Season 2 finale! Today we're talking S2E22, "New York." Nationals is finally here and the Glee Club is super prepared for it. They're so prepared that instead of rehearsing for months leading up, they're writing the songs the day before. But hey, it's Glee.

Kevin McHale Scale: 1 - really just for Bella Notte and showing up to work. Klainedex: 7 - a 5 for the "I love yous" and an extra 2 for Kurt talking about moving to New York with Blaine.

Friends! Countrymen! We are returned.

Today we're talking about S2E21, "Funeral." The New Directions have almost made it to Nationals in New York, but first they had to make an honestly heartfelt pit stop at a funeral. Meanwhile, Mercedes, Kurt, and Santana all get solos. Yay!

Maybe you thought we'd skip this travesty, but we didn't. We're professionals. Once again the Glee Club doesn't know how to budget and needs to raise money for Nationals, so Holly Holliday tells them to put on a benefit concert. Because nothing could possibly go wrong there.

Oh, There You Are

Mon, 09 Sep 2019 13:51:43 GMT

We've been looking for you forever. We should practice. We thought we were. We think it's adorable. We think you're adorable. *ahem* Anyway.

That's right, this week is S2E16, "Original Song." The New Directions take original songs (see what they did there, with the title of the episode? genius) to Regionals while Quinn's entirely storyline...uh...sucks. Also, a bird dies. Nothing else happens. Except for the best kiss in all of the Glee's history.

This episode rates an astounding 0 on the Kevin Scale, which is fine, because we hit a 9 on the Klainedex. And this week we'd like to introduce the Cockblocking Keyboard Scale, which rates our first 10. But at what cost?

(S212) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Master Plan - Season Finale

Wed, 07 Aug 2024 12:00:00 GMT

Welcome to the Season 2 finale of Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast. This is 2x12, "Master Plan." Gerard Argent reveals his ultimate master plan (get it? It's the episode title), setting the stage for a dramatic showdown worthy of a season finale.

Assumed dead at the end of the last episode, Jackson Whittemore reemerges during the final battle, commanded by Gerard to attack the werewolves. But a surprising redemption comes in the form of one Lydia Martin. Maybe it really is all about the power of love.

Chris Argent's ongoing internal struggle and eventual decision to defy his father and release Boyd and Erica from captivity mark a significant turning point for his character. Are we Chris Argent stans? Probably. We love a morally gray character.

As Season 2 closes out and we look towards Season 3, Gerard's fate remains uncertain (boo!), and the introduction of an Alpha Pack hints at even greater challenges for Scott, Derek, and the pack members. Can't they ever get a break in Beacon Hills?

(S2E11) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Battlefield

Wed, 24 Jul 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we expect the unexpected on the penultimate episode of Season 2. This is S2E11, "Battlefield." With Scott academically ineligible to play in the championship lacrosse game, Stiles is thrust into the big game despite a serious lack of previous field time. But the championship isn't the only thing on the line - Gerard is planning on activating Jackson as the Kanima at the end of the game unless Scott gives up Derek.

Jackson isn't the only teenager leaving a trail of destruction and vengeance. Allison and her father are on a dark mission to hunt down two of Derek’s pack members, Boyd and Erica, but her motives are murky.

How many will survive this season? There's only one more episode left this season, and now we're missing Stiles Stilinski...

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast it's a rough night at the Beacon Hills Sheriff's department. This is 2x10, "Fury. " Scott and Stiles try to convince the Sheriff that Creepy Matt is the true villain behind all of the murders, not Mr. Harris (even if Mr. Harris still sucks). But Matt is a step ahead of them, leading to a chaotic battle at the Sheriff's department between the Pack, Matt, and the Kanima under his control.

Melissa learns a shocking secret about her son.

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're dressing up and doing our hair for S2E9, "Party Guessed." It's Lydia Martin's birthday, but not everything is a celebration. She's plagued by nightmares of Peter Hale, who convinces her to do something "special" for him during her birthday party, which just so happens to coincide with the Worm Moon. We wouldn't recommend doing anything Peter Hale asks you to do.

We also follow the tragic fate of Victoria Argent to its bitter end. After being bitten and facing the inevitability of turning into a werewolf, Victoria must make a heartbreaking decision that sets Allison on a new path.

This week's episode acts as a culmination of two important storylines we've been following all season: just who is the Kanima's master and why Peter Hale has been haunting Lydia. The trauma is deep in this one.

Kurt gets a bird, but no solo, and the New Directions get two songs at Sectionals while everyone else only gets one. Just another episode of Glee.

Today we're talking about S2E9, "Special Education." The Glee club battles The Warblers and the Hipsters for supremacy in Western Ohio, while Finn battles with his jealousy over Rachel and Puck. And everyone hates Rachel this week.

This episode rates a 3 on the Kevin Scale and a 6 on the Klainedex.

(S2E8) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Raving

Wed, 19 Jun 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're celebrating our 20th episode! Thanks for being here, friends. This is S2E8, "Raving." Chaos explodes at a secret (maybe not-so-secret) rave where Scott and Stiles attempt to trap Jackson before the Argents get to him. Sheriff Stilinski struggles to make sense of the ongoing killings when he doesn't have all of the pieces to put together (not the last time this happens, we're afraid).

Scott has a near-deadly encounter with Allison's mom, Victoria, who is more than a little upset about her daughter being in love with a werewolf. But this scheme ends with unintended, tragic, and long-lasting consequences.

Most importantly, it's time for the emergence of Magic Stiles. Stiles is tasked by Deaton with a job that will require him to draw upon a previously untapped force of will, and just maybe an unknown well of power.

Maybe we should all just stay away from raves with werewolves, yeah?

Why Oh Why Oh (Lima) Ohio

Wed, 10 Apr 2019 20:47:42 GMT

Burt and Carole, the real MVPs of the show, get engaged, which means it's time for a big fat Glee wedding.

Today's episode is S2E8, "Furt." Kurt is tasked to plan the wedding in, like, 30 minutes, and Finn is not having it all. Karofsky is still the worst and Carol Burnett shows up to steal the episode. Oh, and Sam and Quinn are still around.

This episode rates a 1.25 on the Kevin Scale and a 1.5 on the Klainedex.

(S2E7) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Restraint

Wed, 12 Jun 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're slithering into S2E7, "Restraint." The secrets of Jackson Whittemore are slowly getting revealed as Erica tells the Pack about Jackson's birth parents after a well-earned restraining order sidelines Scott and Stiles' investigations into the Kanima. But someone is pulling Jackson (and the Kanima's) strings and it's imperative they find out before more people die.

Creepy Matt with his camera continues to obsess over Allison and no one seems to be worried about this except for us, your dutiful hosts, even as Allison accepts an invite to attend a rave with Matt. Sure, Matt was useful for his video camera, but it's time for him to go now.

Lydia's world continues to unravel around her - can she believe what she sees? What she hears? Who she's speaking to?

Substituting Goop for Plot

Tue, 26 Mar 2019 16:08:44 GMT

With Schuester out sick it's time to bring in a sub for the Glee Club. Because clubs get subs? Or is it a class? We still don't know. Today's episode is about S2E7, "The Substitute." Gwyneth Paltrow arrives for her first stint as Holly Holliday, the cool sub who sings and dances and respects the kids' opinions. Can we keep her? This episode rates a 2 on the Kevin Scale and a 5 on the Klainedex.

(S2E6) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Frenemy

Wed, 05 Jun 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're jumping into S2E6, "Frenemy." We explore Jackson's shocking (and really awesome looking) transformation into the dangerous Kanima. His true motivations are currently unknown, but everyone in Beacon Hills is after him. The stakes climb ever higher as we slide into the second half of the season.

Lydia grows (rightfully) suspicious of her friends' odd behavior and the increasingly strange occurrences going down in Beacon Hills, but the McCall Pack remains unwilling to tell Lydia what's truly going on in an effort to keep her safe. Except they do want her help translating the Bestiary section on the Kanima.

Scott and Stiles search for the Kanima at The Jungle, a local gay nightclub, which gives this episode much needed levity and some of the most iconic lines of Teen Wolf canon. Hands up for bi!Stiles representation this Pride Month.

"I'm 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bone. Sarcasm is my only defense."

The B is Back

Tue, 26 Feb 2019 19:39:58 GMT

The episode (some of) you have been (maybe) waiting for. The moment it all begins. The character introduction of all character introductions. That’s right. Today’s episode covers S2E6, “Never Been Kissed.” The incessant bullying of Kurt sends him to Dalton Academy, a gay utopia in the heart of Ohio with a zero tolerance policy and zero teachers. And one Blaine Anderson. Can you hear those opening a capella notes? We can. Yes, other things happen in this episode, but isn’t this why you’re here? This episode rates a decent 3 on the Kevin Scale and a solid 7 on the newly adapted Klainedex.

(S2E5) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Venomous

Wed, 29 May 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're dissecting S2E5, "Venomous." Derek Hale suspects Lydia Martin of being the mysterious shapeshifter, forcing Scott McCall to rally his pack, and even some enemies, to protect her, leading to a pack vs. pack showdown.

As if high school chemistry class isn't hard enough, the classroom becomes a battleground with Erica Reyes and Isaac Lahey on a mission to test Lydia by feeding her Kanima venom to see if she really is immune to its effects. It might be one of our favorite scenes.

And if if that isn't enough on Lydia's plate, she's experiencing visions that leave her, and us, questioning what is real and what is not. Let's hope Lydia has a better week next time.

Hot Patootie

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 17:53:54 GMT

Don't we all just LOVE Glee's tribute episodes? They're really the cream of the storytelling crop. Today's episode is about S2E5, "The Rocky Horror Glee Show." Glee takes on the seminal cult classic, Mr. Schue tries to break up a happy relationship, and Kurt continues to have a shit time at McKinley. Also, there are mashups again. Just another day in Limo, Ohio. But anyway, the next episode is "Never Been Kissed" so what does this episode really matter?

(S2E4) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Abomination

Wed, 22 May 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're dissecting S2E4, "Abomination." It's time to tackle the mystery of the Kanima—a lizard-like shapeshifter that's been wreaking havoc in our poor Beacon Hills. (Can this town catch a break??) Emily and Alison also delve into the intricate dynamics of the Argent family and the concept of trust within a lineage of werewolf hunters. Can it exist? What does it look like when your daughter brings home a werewolf for family dinner?

Lest we forget, for our Sterek shippers, this episode is for us, as Derek and Stiles must rely on each other for survival after an attack by the Kanima.

And for a slight change of pace, we talk about intricacies corporate 360 degree reviews and the horrors of driving tests as adults.

Sam I Am

Mon, 21 Jan 2019 21:14:20 GMT

We're back! Okay, yes, it's been a hot minute with the holidays and recovering from all of the eating at the holidays. But Glee on the Rocks is back at you with a brand new episode. Today we're talking about S2E4 - "Duets." The Glee Club pairs off for the right to fight for a date night at Breadstix. Meanwhile, your hosts talk about just what was up with the whole "is Sam Evans going to be Kurt Hummel's new love interest" thing that Glee tried to play for a week and half. Spoilers: he's not. This episode ranks a pathetic -.5 on the Kevin Scale.

(S2E3) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Ice Pick

Wed, 15 May 2024 12:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast we're plunging into the icy depths S2E3, "Ice Pick." The Beacon Hills ice rink becomes a battleground for identity and power as we witness the rise of Erica Reyes, another character who undergoes a complex transformation in search of power and acceptance amongst her peers.

As the Hale pack grows, loyalties are tested and new alliances are formed. Derek continues to walk a fine line between villain and antihero with his controversial alpha techniques sparking debate and controversy. Is he a savior offering salvation to the teenage outcasts, or is he a predator preying on the vulnerable? And we can't leave behind Lydia Martin, whose long journey is as chilling as it is mysterious.

This week, everyone's favorite characters are skating on thin ice.

Glee's Very Special Emmy Bait

Tue, 27 Nov 2018 17:26:39 GMT

Glee is gunning for those Emmy nominations by going deep with religion and giving Burt Hummel a Very Bad Day. This is S2E3, "Grilled Cheesus." Finn sees Jesus in a grilled cheese sandwich, Kurt gets shit on for having different beliefs than the rest of the Glee Club, and Sue Sylvester is a damn good sister. Did this discussion of religion and faith ring true for you? Or did it hit a hollow note? This episode ranks a paltry .5 on the Kevin Scale.

It's Brittany S. Pierce, bitch. That's right, it's the (first) highly anticipated Britney Spears tribute episode! At least Glee wanted it to be highly anticipated. We're talking S2E2, "Britney/Brittany." Was it all killer, no filler? Or all filler, no killer? You'll have to listen to find out what we thought. Glee's Big Gay Summer

Fri, 02 Nov 2018 16:13:28 GMT

Glee returns with Season 2 and so do we. Welcome back. We're talking S2E1, "Audition." Matt Rutherford has flown the coop and the Glee Club is in search of hot new recruits, unless you're Rachel and those new recruits have a killer voice. Also new to the mix is Shannon Beiste, McKinley High's new football coach, and brand new target for Sue and Schue's grade-school bullying. Basically there's some new stuff happening. We'll tell you what we think of it. Season 2 kicks off the Kevin Scale with a not-too-shabby 1.5 Kevins.

Quinn gives birth and Finn and Rachel are officially a thing. We think. When we come back we'll be starting Season 2, and you know what that means... Wow it's been a week hasn't it? Dang. Yeah. So let's all sit back, pour a drink (or nine), and spend half an hour trying to forget about the garbage fire we all just witnessed with a little bit of Glee. Today we're talking S1E21, "Funk." We're gonna be honest, we didn't love this one. A lot happened and nothing happened. Quinn found some funky soul and Vocal Adrenaline found their weakness. And we found the canon moment where Kurt speaks French. Allons-y! This episode rates a paltry .25 on the Kevin Scale.

Neil Patrick Harris joins as Bryan Ryan (Brian Rian?) in an episode crowded with guest stars and Glee reuses a couple songs and plotlines. Again. This episode rates a full 4.5 Kevins. That's right. (S1E12) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Season 1 Finale

Wed, 07 Feb 2024 13:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics we're talking S1E12, "Code Breaker." The full moon has risen on the Season 1 Finale of Teen Wolf and we're here to guide you through every twist and turn. Our favorite teen wolf Scott McCall is caught in a war between the hunters and the werewolves and must reach out to both friends and adversaries in order to stop the mysterious killings rattling Beacon Hills.

From the cleverly laid breadcrumbs leading us into the next season to the heart-stopping revelations and heel turns, this episode is an emotional rollercoaster for the characters and for us. Because as a season finale, not everyone is going to walk away alive.

And of course we take a moment to look back at the Teen Wolf fandom itself. We reflect on the passion and dedication of the fans, because it's that community that keeps this show alive so long after the final credits roll.

Thank you for listening to Season 1 of Pack Dynamics. We hope you've enjoyed this foray into our other fandom obsessions and hope to see you soon for Season 2.

Today we ask ourselves if Kurt and Rachel are ever really friends, realize we have more feelings about Terri Schuester than we realized, and briefly touch on the terror of Teenage Dream (Acoustic Version). 9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x10 — “A Whole New You” Recap: Season One Signing Off

Fri, 11 Sep 2026 12:00:00 GMT

We made it to the Season 1 finale of 9-1-1! This week on 9-1-1 on the Rocks, we’re talking 1x10, “A Whole New You,” an episode where everyone is asking some version of the same question: who are you when the life you built suddenly changes?

Abby has spent years disappearing into caring for her mother. Buck has spent ten episodes trying to become someone worth trusting. Bobby is finally beginning to imagine a future he actually wants to be alive for. And Athena Grant is about to walk into a restaurant looking so good that Bobby Nash never stood a chance.

Naturally, 9-1-1 explores all of this the only way 9-1-1 knows how to.

This episode, we’re talking:

🧠 A stroke that apparently comes with complimentary British slang, a psychic whose dead client is extremely inconveniently still alive, and Season 1 reminding us one last time that subtlety is for other television shows.

🐟 Buck discovering someone has been using his face to catfish women and realizing that changing yourself doesn’t automatically mean the people around you will stop seeing the person you used to be.

✈️ Abby grieving Patricia, recognizing how completely she lost herself in caregiving, and buying a one-way ticket to Dublin while Buck stands outside those airport doors after believing he finally found somewhere he belongs. Cool! Great! We’re fine!

🏍️ One of the bleakest calls of the season, Bobby finally cracking under the weight of the job, and Athena doing exactly what Bobby told Buck to do last week: stepping into the mess with him.

And somehow, that’s Season 1: ten episodes of grief, bad decisions, questionable emergency medicine, deeply weird rescues, and a group of people slowly becoming a family before any of them quite realize it.

We made it through the grungy, messy, horny little first season. Now bring on Season 2. We're ready to meet some important new faces.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x09 — “Trapped” Recap: Step Into the Mess

Fri, 04 Sep 2026 12:00:00 GMT

Everyone is trapped this week on 9-1-1: metaphorically, emotionally, and occasionally in a flooded elevator. Bobby gives Buck the advice that might quietly change the trajectory of his life: you can’t always pull someone out of the mess, sometimes you have to step inside with them. And Athena Grant is handcuffed to a bed, because Season 1 understood that television should be equal parts sad and horny.

This week we’re talking 1x09, “Trapped”:

🗑️ A garbage compactor, a flooded elevator, and a hoarder house that has apparently been designed by Jigsaw.

🔗 Athena’s extremely private 9-1-1 call, Hen proving herself the truest of besties, and one photograph that absolutely should have resurfaced at every birthday for the next nine years.

🎈 Buck planning the most aggressively romantic hot-air-balloon date imaginable, Abby being pulled back home by Patricia, and Buck learning that no amount of champagne and truffles can out-romance real life.

💔 Hen confronting Eva, the fallout from the full moon continuing to spread, and the painful reality that loving someone doesn’t necessarily mean you can break the cycle with them.

🌙 And Abby, Patricia, and an ending that turns the episode’s entire idea of being “trapped” on its head—because sometimes the thing holding you in place is also the thing that feels like home.

For all the literal traps this episode throws at us, the ones that matter most are the ones that nobody can rescue you from with a ladder or a Halligan: grief, guilt, family, love, and the lives we build around the people we just can’t quite let go of.

Dancing With Ourselves

Sat, 31 Mar 2018 01:35:54 GMT

Every episode has been leading up to this moment...an Artie-centric episode! Well, mostly. It counts. Today we're talking S1E9, "Wheels," as Artie takes the spotlight. We've also got feelings about Kurt and Burt, Tina's stutter, and Sue's backstory. And Glee gets its first kudos from us. First times all around. This episode rates 3 whole Kevins (a podcast high!)

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x08 — “Karma's a Bitch” Recap: Sorry Bobby, You Have to Live

Fri, 28 Aug 2026 12:00:00 GMT

Karma comes for everyone this week, and apparently she has access to bullets, tanning beds, dump trucks, and one extremely motivated tiger. On 9-1-1, 1x08 "Karma's a Bitch," the universe is balancing its books — sometimes with satisfying absurdity, and sometimes with emotional devastation.

This episode we break down:

🌳 A bullet lodged in a tree, some deeply questionable DIY arborism, and perhaps the most elaborate “fuck around and find out” senario in Season 1.

🐅 A terrible dentist, a very good tiger, and the rare emergency where absolutely everyone is rooting for the large carnivore. Good kitty.

🩸 Chimney’s blood drive accidentally uncovering Bobby’s Super Magic Blood and, much more importantly, the horrifying reality of the bargain Bobby has made with himself.

🫣 And Hen discovering that when you sleep with your ex and spend an entire episode avoiding telling your wife, sometimes karma doesn’t bother with symbolism. Sometimes it just serves you custody papers. Yikes.

This episode is gleefully ridiculous on the surface, quietly devastating underneath, and maybe the first episode that really feels like the simultaneously completely unhinged and emotionally devastating 9-1-1 we've been watching for 9 seasons now.

(S1E8) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast

Wed, 10 Jan 2024 13:00:00 GMT

This week on Pack Dynamics we're talking S1E8, "Lunatic." With the full moon approaching, Scott and Allison must deal with their recent break-up. Scott worries that he won't be able to control himself during the full moon and Stiles comes up with a plan to help him through the night. Jackson flirts with Allison and Greenberg causes a pink eye epidemic on the lacrosse team.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x07 — “Full Moon (Creepy AF)” Recap: Bad Moon Rising

Fri, 21 Aug 2026 12:00:00 GMT

The full moon is out over Los Angeles, which apparently means everyone is legally permitted to lose their goddamn minds because what is happening here. 1x07 “Full Moon (Creepy AF)” gives us synchronized yoga labor, a face-eating maybe-zombie, a deeply enthusiastic tapeworm extraction, and Henrietta Wilson making a choice so bad we would personally like to revoke her full moon privileges.

This episode we break down:

🌕 Buck Buckley, noted scientist, explaining that the full moon makes gravity heavier because he read it on the internet and being absolutely delighted when the night keeps proving him right (kinda).

👶 Prenatal yoga descends into complete chaos as babies start arriving like somebody hit the emergency childbirth button, while Bobby unsuccessfully attempts to maintain control of literally anything.

☎️ Abby listens helplessly as a woman is murdered, refuses to accept the easy answer, and proceeds to out-detect an actual homicide detective.

🪱 Buck pulls a tapeworm out of a man’s ass with the delighted concentration of a child opening a Christmas present, giving us one of the clearest examples of why you simply cannot skip Season 1.

This episode is gross, horny, creepy, genuinely upsetting at times, and extremely funny. So, basically, 9-1-1 discovering exactly what kind of show it wants to be. The moon may not actually make people crazy, but it sure gives them something to blame on this show.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x06 — “Heartbreaker” Recap: Happy Valentine’s Day, Don’t Choke

Fri, 14 Aug 2026 12:00:00 GMT

Love is in the air in Los Angeles, which naturally means fake plane crashes, emergency tracheotomies, a man superglued back together (yeah, we know), and possibly the most cursed welcome-back cake in workplace history. 1x06 “Heartbreaker” is where 9-1-1 really starts feeling like 9-1-1: wildly sincere, deeply ridiculous, and absolutely determined to turn every possible expression of love into somebody’s emergency.

This episode we break down:

✈️ A proposal so catastrophically ill-conceived it literally gives someone broken heart syndrome. Friends, if your beloved fakes an aviation emergency before proposing, run.

🎂 Chimney returns to the 118, receives a horrifyingly accurate rebar-through-the-head cake, and gets called the heart of the firehouse even though we’ve barely gotten to know him yet. We’ll allow it. We know where this is going.

💘 Buck and Abby finally go on a real date, Buck is immediately defeated by complimentary bread and Abby performs an emergency tracheotomy. Could be...worse?

🔪 Athena spends Valentine’s Day working because going home means confronting what’s happening in her own marriage and somehow ends up tied to a chair while someone plans to harvest her heart for a DIY boyfriend upgrade. Yikes.

Plus: our ongoing campaign for 9-1-1 to make a bottle episode and why holiday episodes are an endangered television art form worth protecting.

Happy Valentine’s Day. Eat the bread carefully, y'all.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x05 — “Point of Origin” Recap: Dead Dove Do Not Open Bobby’s Backstory

Fri, 07 Aug 2026 12:00:00 GMT

This week, 9-1-1 asks whether we ever truly know the people closest to us and then immediately reveals enough secrets, lies, and catastrophic personal history to make everyone reconsider the question. 1x05 “Point of Origin” finally opens Bobby Nash’s ominous little black book, introduces us to the magnificent Karen Wilson, and sends Buck and Abby on a first date involving a missing mother, an electrified swimming pool, and an impressive amount of unresolved sexual tension.

This episode, we break down:

🏗️ An arranged marriage, a structurally unsound building, and the episode repeatedly asking whether anyone truly knows the person beside them.

📓 Bobby’s devastating origin story, his addiction and guilt, and the extremely complicated question of whether the 118 can trust him with their lives without knowing what happened to his first family.

🪐 The arrival of Karen Wilson: astrophysicist, devoted wife, and already the smartest person in every room.

🚩 Hen visiting Eva behind Karen’s back and beginning an impressive run of decisions everyone—including Hen—knows are terrible.

It’s an episode about shame, trust, secrecy, and whether the family you build can hold the worst thing you’ve ever done. Season 1 of 9-1-1 is a trip.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x04 — “Worst Day Ever” Recap: The Little Black Book of Horrors

Fri, 31 Jul 2026 15:51:44 GMT

Four episodes in, 9-1-1 crashes a passenger plane into the Pacific, sets the water on fire, traps people inside a sinking fuselage, and casually establishes the blueprint for every enormous disaster the show will throw at us later. But beneath all the spectacle, 1x04 "Worst Day Ever" really is an episode about the people who keep running into emergencies because not doing it just isn't an option. And it's about the moment three coworkers finally start becoming something that looks a lot like family.

This episode, we break down:

📓 Bobby’s deeply ominous little black book and Buck’s terminal inability to mind his own business

🚔 Athena fighting teenage bullies and airline capitalism through a series of choices that are emotionally satisfying and legally questionable

☎️ Abby’s gentlest day at dispatch and an NPC love story we will apparently be grieving forever

🛋️ Hen and Buck finding Bobby at rock bottom and the tiny, broken “Help” that transforms three coworkers into a family

This episode is grimy, emotionally brutal, and completely load-bearing for everything the 118 (and the show as a whole) will become.

Also: where were the life jackets?

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x03 — “Next of Kin” Recap: Chimney Meets the Narrative

Fri, 24 Jul 2026 12:00:00 GMT

Content note: This episode includes discussion of suicide and attempted suicide.

In 1x03 “Next of Kin,” 9-1-1 takes its first big swing at found family and uses a piece of rebar through Chimney’s skull to get there. Meanwhile, Athena and Michael face the terrifying aftermath of May’s suicide attempt, Abby is forced to confront what caring for her mother can realistically look like, and a bouncy castle finally proves that children’s birthday parties are inherently hostile environments.

This episode, we’re talking:

🎈 A bouncy castle on the edge of a cliff, the Santa Ana winds, and several adults making choices their insurance company would not approve of

🔥 Athena reminding May that she is “special and bright and filled with holy fire” while the Grant family tries to survive an unimaginable crisis

🧠 Chimney lying about dinner, proposing to a woman who does not appear to like him, fighting with Bobby, and immediately meeting the narrative at highway speed

🏠 Abby’s complicated mix of love, duty, guilt, and martyrdom as her family considers memory care for her mother

This episode is emotionally ambitious, structurally uneven, and trying very hard to be load-bearing. But somewhere between Bobby declaring that Chimney’s family is “right here” after knowing these people for approximately three episodes and Buck offering the world’s least reassuring bedside pep talk, the 118 begins transforming into the deeply codependent little trauma family we came here to love.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x02 “Let Go” Recap – Carla Arrives, Buck Unravels

Fri, 17 Jul 2026 12:00:00 GMT

9-1-1 on the Rocks has survived its first shift, and unfortunately, Buck has already acquired significant workplace trauma.

This week on 9-1-1 on the Rocks, we’re covering 1x02, “Let Go,” an episode about all the ways people try to hold on when everything around them is falling apart. Buck learns that wanting to save someone doesn’t mean he can, Abby welcomes the relentlessly competent Carla Price into her home and immediately recruits her as a best friend and romantic adviser, and Athena tries to keep her family functioning while Michael’s revelation continues to crack it open.

Also on this episode:

Buck’s first devastating loss on the job and why “I will not let you go” tells us almost everything we need to know about him.
Season one’s startlingly dark discussions of suicide, grief, isolation, and the limits of what first responders can protect people from.
Angela Bassett delivering a performance so raw it changes the temperature of the entire show.

It’s heavy. It’s messy. Carla is already running the place, and Buck Buckley has officially begun collecting trauma like it’s part of his LAFD benefits package.

9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x01 “Pilot” Recap — Welcome to the 118, Please Sign This Trauma Waiver

Fri, 10 Jul 2026 12:00:00 GMT

9-1-1 on the Rocks has officially entered the firehouse.

Welcome to the inaugural episode of the newest Fandom on the Rocks podcast. We’re kicking off our brand-new recap series of 9-1-1 with 1x01, “Pilot,” the episode that introduced us to our beloved 118. We dive in on Abby Clark, who is very clearly being positioned as the emotional entry point of the show, Athena Grant’s immediate Angela Bassett-ness, Bobby Nash’s ominous little black book, and Buck Buckley’s straight hair, terrible judgment, and desperate need to be loved by literally anyone with a pulse.

This is the beginning of our re-rewatch journey through the emergencies, trauma, found family, baffling narrative choices, questionable timelines, emotional devastation, and extremely pretty first responders that make 9-1-1 so dangerously rewatchable.

In our first episode, we’re talking:

Abby as the original emotional center of the show
Buck stealing a firetruck for sex reasons
Bobby Nash being deeply, obviously, alarmingly Not Okay
Athena Grant arriving fully formed and already done with everyone
Babies in walls, snakes in apartments, suburban break-ins, and 9-1-1’s early commitment to chaos
Retcons, Ryan Murphy-isms, and our commitment to judging canon because we love it

It’s messy. It’s intense. It’s weirdly good. And unfortunately, we’re in it now.

Welcome to 9-1-1 on the Rocks. Let’s overthink television together.

Fandom on the Rocks Bonus Episode #57: Our 9-1-1 Season 10 Wishlist

Mon, 01 Jun 2026 12:00:00 GMT

We are once again asking the 9-1-1 writers’ room to be brave. Be bold. Be intentional.

In this Fandom on the Rocks bonus episode, we’re looking ahead to Season 10 of 9-1-1 and laying out our very reasonable, completely measured, not-at-all-unhinged wishlist for what we want from the next season.

Some of these wishes are mild-mannered expectations. Some are pipe dreams. Some are pure crack. All of them are delivered with love, frustration, and the deep spiritual exhaustion of two people who are, frankly, tired Grandpa.

An incomplete list (you have to listen to the episode for the full experience, obviously):

Buddie canon, obviously — but as a choice, not a crisis. No more near-death experiences as romantic shortcuts. We want Buck and Eddie to choose each other because they have already built the life, the family, the trust, and the deeply suspicious platonic marriage.
The bottle episode agenda — two couches, a kitchen table, the firehouse, and people actually talking to each other. CPR recertification? Station inspection? Power outage? We don’t care. Lock them in and let the character work happen.
A wildfire that actually means something — Los Angeles is their home. Let the big disaster be about the community they serve, not just another round of “how can we almost kill the 118 this time?” Also, yes, burn down South Bedford and make Eddie move in with Buck. We said what we said.
Group hang for joy — not a funeral, not a wedding, not a hospital, not a crisis. Give us a barbecue, a beach day, a game night, karaoke, softball, something. This show talks about found family all the time. Let us actually see the family.
Emergency lightning round — influencer immersive experience gone wrong, wellness retreat horrors, science fair explosions, cruise ship dock chaos, revisiting elevator trauma with consequences, and a CPR training cold open where everyone roasts each other’s compression technique. Because silly emergencies are fun.

And, because we are us, we also discuss crop tops (obviously), drag brunch, Christopher needing an actual storyline, May and Ravi's developing romance, Maddie and Chimney in their leadership roles, Eddie Diaz as a queer-coded man written so loudly we are all begging the show to notice, and why Season 10 desperately needs one thing above all else: Intentionality.

Show us the storyboard. Show us the wall. Know where these characters are going when you start writing. Let big things mean something. Let the emotional arcs actually arc. We are paying adult money to watch this show. Give us the goods.

As always, we complain because we love this show. We want 9-1-1 to be the best version of itself, and we want Season 10 to remember that the show is strongest when the emergencies are wild, the characters are grounded, and the found family actually feels like a family.

Drop your Season 10 wishlist in the comments. What are you manifesting? What are you begging for? And how many crop tops is too many crop tops? Trick question. The limit does not exist.

Fandom on the Rocks

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #7

Mon, 03 Nov 2025 04:27:11 GMT

"Fandom is a participatory event. In one way or the other."

Welcome back to Fandom on the Rocks, where there’s never a plan — only chaos, retcons, and a lot of feelings about 9-1-1.

In this 9-1-1 bonus episode, we dive headfirst into Season 9, the emotional hangover of losing Bobby Nash, and yeah, that was a whale swallowing a billionaire kayaker. From the four-part fever dream of a season opener to Athena’s latest flashback, Emily and Alison pick apart every questionable creative choice, all while mourning the death of stakes and the unfortunate rise of beige set design.

We also talk about what’s happening outside the show: from fans needing to be right, the algorithm turning us into engagement machines, and how fandom only survives if everyone brings something to the potluck — a fic, a gif, or just a little enthusiasm.

Come for the space rant, stay for the fandom therapy — and remember: if you reach the end of a fic, you leave kudos.

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #6

Tue, 20 May 2025 01:05:18 GMT

Listen, we’ve seen 9-1-1 make some wild choices before—but this season finale? Nah.

In this week's chaotic, heartfelt, and occasionally unhinged 9-1-1 Bonus Episode, subtitled "Bobby Deserved Better and So Did We," we're joined by special guest Sofia (@sadgayeddie) to unpack the emotional aftermath of the 9-1-1 season 8 finale. Spoiler alert: we are not okay.

From Bobby’s sudden death (with super Ebola?!) to half a dozen storylines getting steamrolled in a montage, and a production timeline that feels like it was assembled by raccoons with a typewriter, we've got a lot to say. The writing? Sloppy. The mourning? Nonexistent. The audience? Mad.

There’s rage, there’s laughter, there’s speculation on Buddie (as always), and a whole lot of love for Christopher Diaz.

Expect unfiltered rants, fandom conspiracies, righteous indignation, and—of course—a little hope that season 9 will somehow pull it together (doubtful, but we dream). If you're confused, furious, or just here for the catharsis, hit play.

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #4

Tue, 18 Mar 2025 12:00:00 GMT

Hello, Fire Fam. We're back with another 9-1-1 Mini Series episode because, frankly, too much happened in 8x09 and 8x10 to not talk about.

We have to give it up for Scream Queen of the Aughts, Jennifer Love Hewitt, for fully bringing it during her latest banana nut story line, even if we have critiques about it being a little recycled. We also lament the loss the quirky procedural 911 calls from the early seasons and hope for their return to bring some levity back to the show in the midst of all this drama.

But more importantly, we're here to discuss the Buddie Of It All. We explore the dramatic implications of Eddie's move to El Paso and how it affects Buck, even if Eddie isn't quite ready to truly see what's going on between them. Call us shippers, but the story on the screen certainly seems to be leading us down an old, familiar road. But where does the road end?

XOXO,

FotR

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #3

Mon, 10 Feb 2025 13:00:00 GMT

Welcome back, Fire Fam. Today's9-1-1 Mini Series bonus episode focuses on two characters who have a lot going on at the moment: Buck and Eddie andbuckandeddie. With the recent behind-the-scenes footage, Emily and Alison deep-dive into speculation of what the filming could mean for 9-1-1 season 8b and the characters' futures. (Spoiler spec abounds!). Does this actually mean buddie will go canon? We've got an hour to talk about it.

Your hosts also conduct a nostalgic rewind into another explosive filming night that brought together the entireGlee fandom, and reminisce about how these behind-the-scenes glimpses into the filming process can ignite passionate discussions within the fandom community.

"The footage suggests that we are getting a buddie goodbye in the rain, which is some of the rom-comiest shit I've ever seen in my life."

What's your speculation for 8b?

Introducing: 9-1-1 on the Rocks - a Fandom on the Rocks Podcast (Trailer)

Thu, 09 Jul 2026 12:00:00 GMT

What happens when three people with strong opinions, an alarming number of notes, and absolutely no ability to watch television casually go back to the beginning of 9-1-1?

Welcome to 9-1-1 on the Rocks, a new podcast from Fandom on the Rocks.

We’re here for the big feelings, the baffling choices, the slow burns, the plot holes, and whatever other insane thing network television has decided to throw at us this week. This time, that means fires, floods, earthquakes, cruise ship disasters, improbable medical emergencies, complicated family dynamics, and one Los Angeles firehouse that has somehow become our entire personality.

We’re starting with Season 1 and recapping 9-1-1 episode by episode, going all the way back to the beginning — with full knowledge of where the show goes, what gets retconned, what gets better, what gets weirder, and what will eventually make us yell at our screens.

For anyone new to the wee-woo show, 9-1-1 follows the firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and one extremely badass sergeant responding to some of the strangest and most spectacular emergencies Los Angeles can produce. But beneath the collapsing buildings, occasional fires, runaway vehicles, and people getting stuck in places no human being should ever be stuck, this is a show about trauma, recovery, love, identity, caregiving, second chances, and the families people build for themselves.

It is also a show about incredibly attractive people who are catastrophically bad at boundaries.

Because this is a Fandom on the Rocks podcast, we won’t just be recapping what happens. We’ll be asking the important questions.

What does Season 1 look like when you already know which details will become foundational, which will quietly disappear, and which will be retconned nine years later?

When does the 118 stop being a group of coworkers and become a family — and did the show realize it was happening at the time?

Which character dynamics were carefully planned, which were created by accidental chemistry, and which exist because fandom looked at the text and understood the assignment?

How many devastating things can happen to Chimney before someone lets that man have a peaceful afternoon?

Why do the actual emergencies sometimes feel less alarming than the emotional subtext?

And how many times can the 118 run directly into fire, flood, earthquake, cruise ship disaster, or whatever else the show has planned for its next season-opening arc before someone makes them all sit down and have an honest conversation?

Our hosts also bring very different relationships with the show to the rewatch. Emily and Alison know what is coming, remember what gets forgotten, and have years of character analysis, fandom history, and ship feelings ready to go. Mandy watched Season 1 when it originally aired, left when Abby did, and has spent the years since absorbing the rest of the show through Tumblr, fandom osmosis, and whatever Emily and Alison have yelled about in her general direction.

Which means there will be predictions, forgotten plotlines, hindsight, spoilers, retcons, and at least one moment per episode where someone says, “Wait, is that actually what happened?”

If you know Fandom on the Rocks, you know the vibe: smart fandom chaos, character analysis, ship dynamics, television criticism, production choices, emotional damage, and the occasional realization that we care far too much about fictional people.

If you’re new here, welcome.

We’re skeptics first, critics second, and fans always.

There will be jokes. There will be feelings. There will be an alarming number of notes.

So grab your coffee, your group chat, and your trauma waiver. Let’s go back to the 118.

xoxo,
Fandom on the Rocks

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #5

Mon, 21 Apr 2025 01:19:05 GMT

We're mad, you're mad, we're all mad at Tim Minear. This week's 9-1-1 Mini Series episode is all about the devastating fallout from the 9-1-1 Contagion two-parter of 8x14 "Sick Day" and 8x15 "Lab Rats."

Warning: This episode is RIFE with spoilers for basically the entirety of 9-1-1 through 8x15. And includes discussions of suicide that some listeners may find sensitive.

We dig into the decision (the terrible, horrible, no good very bad decision) made by the creative team behind our favorite wee-woo show to kill off a main character and speculate on how we think that decision will impact 9-1-1 moving forward. Spoiler: we don't think it was a good idea and we're not afraid to say it.

No matter what happens next, 9-1-1 will never be the same again.

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #2

Mon, 13 Jan 2025 01:33:55 GMT

Welcome to the second episode in our 9-1-1 Mini Series. Alison and Emily discuss Eddie Diaz's possible queer experience and how the on-screen narrative is driving towards that revelation. On purpose or not? You decide.

They also chat at length about the emotional and physical rollercoaster Buck and Eddie are currently trapped on and why that might be behind the current fandom obsession behind putting those men into Situations. Your mileage may vary.

And the hosts end the episode on a really light-hearted topic: does Bobby Nash deserve his second family?

"Bobby Nash is not a real person. This is a philosophical exercise."

This show is a soap opera, which more fire engines and fewer evil twins. So far.

Missed our first Bonus 9-1-1 mini series episode? Take 3 steps back and listen.

Bonus Episode: 9-1-1 Mini Series #1

Wed, 27 Nov 2024 13:00:00 GMT

Hello #FireFam. We're here to hit you with a surprise, wanted or unwanted. We're starting a mini series about 9-1-1. Yeah, another Ryan Murphy show. Because we're masochists. It even gets it's own podcast cover art. And this is the first episode.

Emily and Alison share how they fell into the 9-1-1 universe (slowly, then all at once for Alison), discuss their favorite characters and storylines, and touch a little on the broader impact of Ryan Murphy's work (that bastard).

So whether you're a long-time viewer or you're new the series in Season 8 because you heard something might be going down, welcome. We're all family in this house. Just keep it off the streets, okay?

"It feels like every couple of years, Ryan Murphy comes up with a new show to ruin me."

Introducing - Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast

Tue, 05 Dec 2023 17:53:21 GMT

We're so thrilled to introduce the newest podcast to the Fandom on the Rocks network - Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast. Hosted by FotR alum Emily and newcomer Alison, Pack Dynamics is a deep dive into the supernatural teen drama that was equal parts a delightful story of friendship and family and a vexing MTV show of wasted potential.

We suppose this podcast is a decade in the making, given how attached we've been to this series since we started watching it together in Los Angeles (you'll hear our origin story on the podcast). We sprinkle in character analysis alongside fanon lore and heartfelt critique of a show we've never quite let go of. And we help you find the episode you're looking for so you can continue to create gorgeous and creative content.

The first 3 episodes will drop all at once on Wednesday on the Fandom on the Rocks feed and then we'll be releasing an episode a week. And we're already a 1/3 of the way through recording Season 2. (How organized are we?!?)

A note from Alison: Thank you, dear listeners, for welcoming me into the Rocks fold. For listening while I chat with one of my best friends about a fandom that has consumed my whole soul for the better part of a decade. For letting this little Curiosity Pony prance out in the fields. Strap on your Shipping Goggles, we're going for a ride.

Bonus Episode #44 - WGA Strike and a Swift Rant

Mon, 07 Aug 2023 19:55:31 GMT

Fandom on the Rocks stands in solidarity with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and are acting accordingly.

Though we are not Union members, we support the on-going strike in search of fair contracts and will be following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA rules regarding the promotion of struck work. This includes podcasts.

We will continue to post new bonus episodes (like this one!) about non-struck work (music! books! food! ourselves!) until the strike ends and a fair contract is negotiated.

Here are a few key notes from the FAQs about podcasts:

What kind of podcast work is NOT allowed during the strike?

Hosts: If you are under contract, you should honor your contract. If you self-produce your podcast, do not promote struck work - past, current, or upcoming - as part of your podcast.

What about “rewatch” or “companion” podcasts relating to struck work? Are they considered promotional?

Yes, they are considered promotional. Rewatch and companion shows drive people to the struck companies’ platforms to watch the shows promoted by your podcast. We must stand together to show those companies our power and influence so they will provide performers with a fair contract.

Please take a look a the organizations' websites to see how you might be able to support the writers and creators of the content you love.

SAG-AFTRA Strike Hub

Please enjoy this episode and know that we will be recording episodes of Glee on the Rocks during the strike to be able to post them when the strike ends.

In love and solidarity.

Glee on the Rocks Presents: Supernatural on the Rocks

Fri, 05 Feb 2021 14:00:00 GMT

Hey Gleeks! We're proud to introduce our new project: this is Supernatural on the Rocks, a new Supernatural podcast hosted by two of the voices behind Glee on the Rocks. This will be a limited series podcast: every episode we cover a season of Supernatural, digging into the mythology, the characters, and the fandom it left behind. When there's too much to cover in a regular episode, we'll add topic-specific bonus episodes.

This is Episode 1, "Season 1." SPN premiered in 2005. Billed as The X Files meets Route 66, the concept was two brothers driving the desolate roads of America, saving people and hunting things. In this first episode, we discuss the effectiveness of the genre, the characterization of the leads, and what was going on with the Big Bads of the season.

Join us to remember the road that was.

Voices of Glee: Episode 1, Part 1

Mon, 08 Jun 2020 15:14:07 GMT

Hello! Welcome to the first installment of what we're calling the Voices of Glee episodes.

We wanted to do this in recognition of the long history of Black/Brown/POC/Queer voices being excluded from the media. From writers, directors, and producers, to journalists, commentators, and reviewers, and every position of influence and authority in between.

This episode is hosted by Monica, Ambre, and Julien - three more Glee fans who come from different backgrounds than your usual hosts, but who have just as strong of opinions. We loved listening to their conversation about Glee and we're sure you will too.

There was much to talk about so this episode has been split into two. This is Part 1. Part 2 will be posted on Tuesday.

Glee! 'Cause They Sing What They Mean (Special Episode)

Tue, 11 Dec 2018 22:40:23 GMT

We've got something a little different for you today. The holidays are upon us and since we're (sadly) no where near the first Glee Christmas episode, we thought we'd try something new.

Today we're talking about Community, but not just any ol' Community episode. We're watching their classic Glee parody, "Regional Holiday Music." Oh yes. The format is a little different. We watched this episode together and recorded our "live" commentary during it. We invite you to follow along by watching the episode and listening to our commentary at the same time, synched up, so to speak. Otherwise you're going to be listening to a lot of dead air and our laughter. If you like this format, fantastic. If you hate it...sorry! Watch along on Hulu!
