To be honest, if I could’ve picked anybody in the world to chat to on this series it would be Jonnie. The person who showed a whole nation what disabled people can do.

There’s a strange concept that when somebody with a disability starts taking part in sport they get asked the question “are you training for the Paralympics?”. It’s almost an expectation that if you have a disability you can’t just do sport for the love of it… There has to be an end goal.

If you have a disability there are a million and one things you can gain from taking part in sport. Confidence, the social aspect, and physical/mental health.

I wonder if this question “are you training for the Paralympics?” Actually has the opposite effect. I wonder if this discourages disabled people from taking part in sport.
