When I started my business, becoming a sales coach made complete sense. I had the experience, the results and the authority. But without realising it, I built that business around the parts of me I thought belonged in a professional brand — and edited out the rest.

The content was good. The strategy made sense. But people aren’t choosing from a spreadsheet. Especially in a personal brand, they’re choosing the person they want to be led by.

For me, it looked like constantly explaining my business to my partner because I desperately wanted him to understand why I believed in it. It looked like perfectionism, waiting until I had the right words and trying to make sure I couldn’t be misunderstood.

None of it felt like self-editing at the time.

After years in corporate, being fired and having parts of my personality and expression treated like a problem, I started questioning myself in ways I never had before.

This is the beginning of the story behind Dangerously Expressed: how I went from being outspoken and unshakeable in my opinions to becoming much more careful with myself — and how long it took me to realise it was happening.
