In 1 Kings 6–9, Solomon builds the Temple, fulfilling God's promise to David and pointing forward to Jesus Christ. Finally, in 1 Kings 11, despite his wisdom, Solomon turns away from God, showing that a faithful heart matters more than knowledge alone.

This week, we're diving into 1 Samuel chapters 17-18 and 24-26, along with 2 Samuel chapters 5-7. We'll follow the incredible journey of David as he goes from a young shepherd facing the giant Goliath to becoming the king God had chosen for Israel.

We'll see David's courage in the face of impossible odds, his growing friendship with Jonathan, and his remarkable restraint when he has multiple opportunities to take revenge against Saul. Instead of taking matters into his own hands, David chooses to trust God's timing.

Then in 2 Samuel, we'll watch David unite the kingdom, bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and receive one of the most important promises in all of Scripture—the covenant that points forward to the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ.

What can we learn from David's victories, failures, patience, and faith? How do we trust God when His promises seem delayed? And what does David's story teach us about the greater King who was yet to come?
