This episode is a book review of the novel Piranesi by Susanna Clarke done by both Ra and Gracy. Please be advised that our book reviews are not spoiler free, so if you want to read this book first, we highly recommend you do so.

Content Warning: In this review we discuss elements of the story that we felt mirrored certain aspects of mental illness, such as daily coping mechanisms, trauma response, disassociation and dissociative disorders, and recovery. The discussion of these topics and how they may be seen in the story take up a large percentage of this episode. Please consider your own mental health and how these conversations may impact you before proceeding with the episode.

Aside from reviewing Piranesi, we also mentioned The Magician’s Nephew by C. S. Lewis and The Lord of the Rings – specifically The Return of the King – directed by Peter Jackson, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

If you would like to follow us on social media, you can find us on Facebook at Choice Words Podcast or on Instagram and Twitter as @choicewords_pod.
