What do you really know about the person sitting two rows ahead of you in shul? Chai Regaim is BKOA's community podcast — 18 minutes, one conversation, one story.

Each episode, host Sharon Zalcberg sits down with a fellow community member for an intimate and honest conversation that goes beyond the Shabbat Shalom.

Why 18 minutes? Since we are launching this podcast just before Pessach, and in the laws of making matzah, 18 minutes is the strict maximum time allowed from the exact moment water touches the flour to the moment the matzah is completely baked and removed from the oven.

Every second within that window is intentional and purposeful. Chai — the Hebrew word for life — is the number 18. Just enough time to get a taste of someone's story. But for the full picture? You'll have to reach out yourself.

This is not just a podcast. It's an invitation to listen, to be curious, and to build real relationships within our community.

*In memory of our beloved mother Agnes Barta,(Agnes Esther Bat Eva Sara) who was an exceptional journalist.

Chai Regaim — Episode 7: Amy Margolis What does it take to move across continents and still keep your sense of self intact? Chai Regaim is our community podcast — 18 minutes, one conversation, one story. Each episode, host Sharon Zalcberg sits down with a fellow community member for an intimate and honest conversation that goes beyond the Shabbat Shalom. This episode features Amy Margolis. Born in New York and raised in South Africa, Amy eventually found herself in Lynn Lake, Manitoba—a remote Canadian town of 1,500 people where she and her husband were the only Jewish residents. From surviving sub-zero winters to building a thriving life in Ontario, Amy’s story is a masterclass in adaptability. She reflects on the cultural shifts between three very different countries and the vital role that community plays in making a new place feel like home. Eighteen minutes that will remind you that no matter how far you travel, it’s the roots you plant that matter most.

🎙️ Episode 7 features Amy Margolis.

⏱️ Runtime: 18 minutes

🔒 This episode is shared exclusively within our community.
