This podcast explores the people and science behind our strength community at Resilience at Endurance Physio. Through member interviews and evidence-based discussions led by physical therapists, we dive into what it really means to get stronger—connecting research, real life, and training in the gym. <itunes:title>Caroline Byrd</itunes:title>

Caroline Byrd is a quiet legend more people should know. A true pioneer in the mountaineering world of the late ’80s and ’90s, Caroline has climbed across the globe. She was the first woman to summit Denali via the Northwest Buttress Route and a member of the first American all-women’s expedition to attempt an 8,000-meter peak without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support. Beyond the mountains, Caroline is also a lawyer and conservation advocate.

In this conversation, we discuss Caroline’s remarkable accomplishments—but more importantly, what it was like navigating a male-dominated field as a woman. We talk about resilience, visibility, and the experience of growing older as a woman in spaces that don’t always make room for you.

At Resilience at Endurance Physio, we offer targeted strength training classes designed and taught by physical therapists. From time to time, we feature member spotlights to highlight the incredible things our athletes are doing—and have done—both in sport and in life.
