In part 1 of the greatest conversations , I highlighted the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

He lived 35 years, and his legacy has lasted for centuries.

In part 2 I highlighted Leonardo da Vinci, Ludwig van Beethoven, Pele, and Michael Jordan- legends who overcame tragedy, poverty, and adversity— yet STILL transcended into global icons.

To have a comprehensive discussion about greats, we have to examine Olympians.

They are quite literally, best in class.

Being an Olympian is a significant achievement, and it requires sacrifice- years of dedication, training, and competition at the highest levels of sport.

There's no way around it, to be an Olympian, you must be elite.

Most Olympians train for many years, often 6-8 hours a day, six days a week. This can add up to over 10,000 hours of dedicated training in their sport- its the "10,000-hour rule."

To prepare for even a single Olympic event can take years. Athletes, coaches, and team invest meticulous attention to training, diet, mental preparation, and recovery strategies.

Born in Columbus Ohio, Simone Biles is one of the greatest gymnast the world has ever seen.

Simone Biles competed in the 2016 and 2021 Olympic games

She has won a total of 7 Olympic medals:

Gold: 4 (Team, All-Around, Vault, Floor Exercise in 2016 Rio)

Silver: 1 (Team in 2021 Tokyo)

Bronze: 2 (Balance Beam in 2016 Rio and 2021 Tokyo)

Born in Danvers, Massachusetts, Jenny Thompson is a retired American swimmer and one of the most decorated female Olympians in history.

she specialized in freestyle and butterfly events.

Jenny competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics (1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004),

And holds a total of 12 Olympic medals: eight golds, three silvers, and one bronze.

Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a retired American track and field athlete widely considered one of the greatest female athletes of all time.

She competed in four Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996),

winning 6 medals, three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

Her record set in 1988 , still stands today.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Allyson Felix is an American track and field sprinter known for her exceptional achievements in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and relay events.

She competed in five consecutive Olympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2021).

Felix won a total of 11 Olympic medals, (7 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze), making her the most decorated female track and field athlete in Olympic history.

To put it simply, when you have a goat conversation don't forget these phenomenal women

Support the show

I am Erica Floyd.

This is Brilliant Everyday Podcast-

Creative, data driven, and concise talks that focus on living a higher quality life.
