This story features a cat who consistently fed a small fish and slowly got attached to it over time. As the fish grew bigger, the tank became too small for the fish to swim in… The cat then faces a challenging decision of whether to let the fish go into the sea.

What should the cat do now that it loves the fish so much and has formed such a strong bond with it? Should the cat let the fish go? Will it ever be able to find its way back?

This poignant tale sets the stage for Teacher Chen and Teacher Zheng's discussion on parent-child relationships, specifically the challenge of "letting go." As children mature, parents must be able to strike a balance between encouraging independence while fulfilling their parental duties. How much then, should a parent ‘let go’ as their child’s age vary? What is the ideal amount of freedom to be granted to their child? This is surely not an easy feat!

Let this be a reminder that loving our children also involves the wisdom of letting them go. As parents, we have to guide children to navigate life on their own while assuring them that they will always have a home to return to.
