For over three and a half years, we've been instructing you about biblical historicity and chronology, from many angles. Today we want to show you just how effective all this knowledge is in the "real world."

The YouTube channel "Holy Koolaid" gleefully wreaks havoc with problematic issues facing Old Testament historicity. It was created by Thomas Westbrook (missionary kid turned evangelistic scoffer) whose channel boasts 391K subscribers. His popular series "Nothing Fails Like Bible History" sets out to skillfully and swiftly debunk the faith of as many Christians as possible.

On this episode, we set out to correct the claims put forth by Thomas Westbrook, demonstrating how quickly his house of cards tumbles once a few basic corrections are made and a few key things are properly understood. What a marvelous application of the data-rich apologetic that we present. It works: real science, real Bible, real history, real world.

We address several of Westbrook's videos from his series "Nothing Fails Like Bible History."

Travel along with us and put your own knowledge to use as we think through how to answer some of the accusations of Holy Koolaid against the Bible and Bible-believers.

The truth is, in the end, nothing SUCCEEDS like Bible history.

For new ideas to move forward, a society must have free speech. In addition, societies today have systems for new ideas (scientific research) to be presented and evaluated. But what happens when those well-established systems become corrupted—when they actually stand in the way of truth and advancement? This is now happening in our country's academic institutions, and many are completely unaware.

"Publish or perish" and peer review have become roadblocks to truth and progress. Some scientists have seen their lives and reputations destroyed through the corrupted system. Others learn to jump through the hoops and work the system to accomplish their personal career goals.

Yet others decide to leave the mainstream altogether in order to avoid a career spent trying to satisfy the system. Being outside the mainstream (and therefore self-published) has its own set of problems, but it does allow meaningful research to take place and the unadulterated, undiluted results to be published, albeit to a limited audience. And that is exactly where we find ourselves here at The Biblical Chronologist.

The book Ross referenced became available in October. This month we critique Noah's Flood Revisited (new depths of insight from science and Scripture).

We discuss several aspects of this new book by an old-earth creationist, pointing out where it falls critically short—false fronts, fuzzy facts, failing to follow through, and an ultimate fatal flaw. This is important because, as Christians, we must be actively advancing the cause of truth, not just giving some reasons to hold to our faith. We must stop treading water in Christian apologetics, and begin to take ground with data, scientific investigation, research results, and specific dates that show these events in real-world history.

Today, we delve into one such question. Who were the people who perished in Noah's Flood?

In Matthew 24, Jesus says: "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be."

Another version says "until the flood came and swept them all away." Who were these people groups, these civilizations who were swept away in Noah's Flood? What can we know about them?

We investigate the lives and cultures of specific ancient people groups in south Mesopotamia, in Palestine, in Greece, in Ireland, and North America. Evidence strongly supports the hypothesis that all of these civilizations perished in the Flood, at the date of circa 3520 B.C., causing a major well-known cultural break across continents in the centuries following Noah's Flood.

"Historians see circa. 3300-3000 B.C. as one of the most dramatic turning points in human pre-history. Multiple major civilizations across the world underwent sudden cultural breaks—urbanization, writing, political unification, collapse of older cultures, migration waves, and technological milestones." -Chat GPT

Nowhere else will you hear this specific, detailed information. Other Bible-believing groups have not been able to pin a functional date on Noah's Flood, and this stops them from knowing much of anything about the Flood, outside of what the Bible says. We are blessed to be able to tie secular history together with biblical history with the strong foundation of proper chronology. This sound reasoning goes far beyond guesswork or speculation, giving us great confidence in the biblical text.

After his initial discovery of the anti-aging vitamins, Dr. Aardsma made contact with the United States FDA, attempting to follow the applicable guidelines before bringing his new product to market in 2017. The interactions between Dr. Aardsma and the FDA at that time ended up being frustrating and unproductive. "Two new vitamins" appear to be uncharted territory for the FDA.

After five years of subsequent silence, the FDA contacted Dr. Aardsma this past summer. (Why now, after five years of silence? We have some ideas.)

Learn what the FDA communicated to us this summer, where things stand now, and what the future might hold, on today's podcast episode.

We find ourselves blazing a trail of sorts with the discovery of these two new vitamins, rooted in Bible/science research. There is no manual or web search that can give us instructions on how to move this new discovery forward into the hands of the proper authorities. Last month's episode reminds us of the inherent difficulties faced by previous vitamin discoveries, by which we can see that we are in good company at least, and thereby we are encouraged that eventually the truth will prevail.

Imagine a time when people were getting sick and dying, sometimes large groups of people at the same time, and living in the same area. Although symptoms were similar in each case, the mysterious illnesses defied conventional cures. Nobody could pinpoint the problem. Maybe it was something in the environment, or an unknown virus or bacteria. Doctors tried various remedies, some typical, some bizarre. Still, the victims suffered in misery, or even died a horrific death.

Imagine the astonishment when people began to discover that something as simple as lemons or cod liver oil in the diet seemed to cure these horrible diseases. Why a lemon? Why cod liver oil? Why were specific foods needed to fix the problem?

Welcome to the world of vitamin discovery, where mysterious illnesses were eventually cured by groundbreaking scientific advancements. Just a few hundred years ago, nobody foresaw that tiny amounts of specific chemical substances could transform human health. Nobody knew that without specific invisible molecules (much to small to be seen with the unaided human eye) the body would get sick and die. Missing molecules were, in fact, the cause of unimaginable suffering. Scientists began to reach a new level of understanding of the relationship between diet and nutrition.

Once these substances which we now call vitamins started to become known, the path to acceptance and scientific consensus remained challenging. People often clung to mistaken beliefs.

Fast forward a hundred years, and the era of vitamin discovery is far from over. The field of Bible/science research now intersects with the field of vitamin discovery. And the path forward for these newly discovered vital molecules (the anti-aging vitamins) has proven, so far, to be just as difficult. This new discovery has been greeted with suspicion, subjected to ridicule, and in general met with resistance. People still cling to mistaken beliefs.

Here at Aardsma Research and Publishing we have been talking about two newly discovered vitamins since 2017. The stories shared on today's episode help set the stage for next month's podcast, when we plan to share some stories of our own. This summer re-established some communications with the United States FDA, which we also plan to share on November's episode.

On today's episode we discuss an unusual piece of history which relates to Bible/science research; an amazing story of discovery with numerous intriguing applications.

In 1991, the body of "Otzi the Iceman" was discovered in the high Alps where he lived and died over 5,000 years ago. This rare and remarkable find provides unusual insight into ancient times. Knowing the date of Otzi's death allows us to place him on the timeline, and we find that Otzi and ancient Bible history complement each other rather nicely.

Many points about Otzi are brought forward by the work of The Biblical Chronologist, in an article Dr. Aardsma published back in 2002.

Over 2.5 million students will begin college as first-time freshmen in the coming weeks, and roughly 50% of them will be from some kind of Christian background.

Entering a college environment (whether private or secular) can be challenging for Christian young people, as new ideas are presented from all directions. Sooner or later they will face some major ideas that seem to oppose their Bible-believing foundation.

Is it possible to face secular scientific ideas and remain unfazed as a Christian student? The following unique ideas from the field of Bible/science research will equip a Christian young person to successfully navigate the university experience. Good ideas and real answers will enable a Christian young person not only to survive, but also to thrive at the university level!

Our discussion travels through the following points.

Three Foundational Principles:

1. Hold a high view of both science and Scripture. Both belong to God, both are used to shape our understanding of truth, and both are vital to a proper understanding of the world we are in.
2. Don't fear data. It may challenge your assumptions, and that is okay. Realize that God uses measurements, facts, and information to help shape our understanding of reality. Data is a God-given pathway to arrive at the truth.
3. Chronology is key. Always ask, when did this particular event happen? We cannot understand the past in any meaningful way without placing events correctly on the timeline. Science reveals things about the past. So does Scripture. Both must be understood in a chronological context.

Three Big Ideas:

1. Missing Millenium. Yes, the Bible's history does harmonize with secular history.
2. Virtual History. Yes, the earth's history shows millions of years, but this is not a serious challenge to the biblical account of Creation happening less than 10,000 years ago.
3. Noahic Events. Yes, climate change is real, but the cause is misunderstood. Bible/science research shows the reality of the situation.

God led the children of Israel through the wilderness by a "pillar of fire" during the night. (Exodus 13:21)

Was this a miraculous pillar of actual fire floating in the air, involving smoke and heat? Or was it something else that could actually be explained by science?

As with the pillar of cloud, we find that modern science sheds light on what was happening within the environment to create this observable phenomenon at night within the unique environment of the Israelite encampments. Today we call this phenomenon "chemiluminescence."

As a result of this new scientific understanding, we can even see what color the pillar of fire would have been. God's works in history are beyond amazing, and once again, we see that they are more real than we ever imagined.

Albert Einstein contributed numerous breakthrough contributions to science. His discoveries, which include both special and general relativity, the photoelectric effect, the mass-energy equivalence formula, and a mathematical explanation for Brownian motion, ushered in the era of modern physics.

One of the great unsolved mysteries left behind by Einstein was the origin of earth's magnetic field.

"Albert Einstein worked diligently, but unsuccessfully, to understand the origin of Earth’s magnetic field, which he considered to be one of the five most important unsolved problems in physics."

Although Einstein was a deist, he cast aside the Bible's recorded history early in life. However, the Bible's ancient record holds the data which ultimately leads to the solving of this great mystery of geophysics (and several others).

Does the Bible say that Noah's ark landed on Mt. Ararat? In fact, the Bible does not identify Mt. Ararat as the place the ark came to rest. Instead, it identifies "the mountains of Ararat" in Genesis 8:4. The mountains of Ararat in eastern Turkey include many mountain peaks.

The biblical text gives some clues to help determine where the ark came to rest. We discuss these clues, and show how science can be used to help pinpoint one particular mountain as the most likely resting place for Noah, his family, and the animals inside the ark.

Our discussion flows out of an article Dr. Aardsma published in 1997, which narrowed down step by step which mountain is likely to be the place where the ark actually landed, and explained why this question is of importance to biblical chronology (and much of the Bible/science research that has happened since that time).

Imhotep is a notable and intriguing figure from ancient Egyptian history. Trusted as closest advisor (vizier) to the Pharoah Djoser, his roles included architect, poet, high priest, physician, and carpenter. He is history's first physician known by name today, and is credited with the authorship of two ancient medical documents.

Proper chronology places Imhotep at exactly the same time as the biblical Joseph, whom the Bible portrays as having extraordinary leadership skills and acting as closest advisor to Pharoah. Was the biblical Joseph the same person as the Egyptian Imhotep? On this episode we consider, from several angles, the strong correlations between the two historical figures.

Imhotep's name has been mentioned in modern news lately, in connection with—of all things—a possible cure for cancer. This cancer research is fascinating, especially when coupled with the likely connection between Imhotep and the biblical Joseph.

The biblical account of Ai, in close connection with Jericho, provides a unique opportunity to once again see the Bible come to life in archaeology. The unique features of this story are easily identified in archaeology, but once again, correct chronology is key.

Ai was a walled city at only one period in history, and when it was destroyed, it was never rebuilt. We find this happening at the exact time predicted by modern biblical chronology, 2400 B.C.

Are you ready to see the Bible to come to life in archaeology?

Following on the heels of the compelling evidence we have seen for Israel in the wilderness, we now come to the beginning of the Conquest of Canaan.

This month we discuss Jericho, where the Bible says walls fell down around an inhabited city, which was then burned by Joshua and his men. After this time, the text indicates that it was not rebuilt for some significant period of time. All of this should not be hard to find in archaeology.

Once again, the Bible runs into trouble at the traditional dates. No walls, no burning, not even a city—nothing at all is present in archaeology at Jericho within the traditional timeframe. This leads to some troubling questions. Could the biblical tale actually be just invented "history" or even "propaganda" for the nation of Israel? Currently, the "...strong consensus among scholars is that the Book of Joshua holds little historical value."

This is a real problem for Bible-believers.

Or, we should say, was a real problem. Once you get the biblical chronology straight, and look at the right dates, the Bible indeed comes to life. A unified story is told in detail by both the biblical text and by the archaeologists themselves. And what a story it is!

Yes, there was a city, and yes, the walls fell. Yes, the ancient city was burned with fire at the very time predicted by modern biblical chronology, and after that time the city was not inhabited again for a long, long time. Come and see!

The globe is warming, glaciers are melting, and oceans are rising. However, the mainstream narrative about "climate change" is exceedingly dangerous, because it in no way addresses the true problem we as a global community appear to be facing.

Bible/science research reveals the true cause of Earth's rising temperatures. You cannot get the whole story about climate change without taking a high view of both the scientific data and the history recorded in Genesis.

Once we have the whole story, we see the need, once again, for mankind to take his God-given role to subdue the earth.

A well-dressed lady, probably in her late 60s, picked up a copy of Dr. Aardsma's book Aging: Cause and Cure at a display table. She surveyed the covers, and then set the book down saying, "That's just too much."

Talking about aging as a curable disease does sound crazy today. Crazier still is the idea that the cure for aging is now known, and topping it all off, that the cure has been found through data contained in the ancient book of Genesis.

Looking back through time, we can see that although many world-changing ideas and discoveries initially sounded too crazy to be true, those ideas eventually became accepted as fact, and those discoveries are now embraced by society.

This month we take a look at four historical examples of ideas that at first seemed too crazy to be true... but ended up changing the world.

God led the Israelites through the wilderness by a pillar of cloud by day. It signaled to them when they should remain camped in a certain location, or when it was time to move to another location. To the unbeliever, this again sounds like the substance of mythology. But, when explained scientifically, it shows (once again) that the accounts in Exodus are eyewitness accounts of God's amazing, traceable works in history.

After leaving Egypt, the Israelites journeyed along the north Sinai road. After three encampments, they struck out into the wilderness under Moses' direction. They found no water after a journey of three days, but then came to a place called Marah, where there was water.

However, the water at Marah was bitter and they could not drink it. The Bible records that Moses then threw a tree in the water and the water became drinkable (sweet). Where did this happen? How could bitter water become sweet?

On this episode Steve and Jennifer discuss continuing research and discoveries from Dr. Gerald Aardsma on the route of the Exodus, and bring a real-world answer that you have never heard before to the mystery of this familiar story! How would you handle a child, grandchild, or some other young person displaying serious doubts about the Bible? What can practically be done to empower this generation with the real-world truth of God's Word?

The message of the Bible gives purpose. It is a message of hope, of repentance, redemption, and restoration to the guilty sinner and to this fallen world. But these messages of such great importance are only taken to heart and acted upon to the extent that they are believed in the mind to be true.

When thinking of ancient Egypt, most of us would immediately think about the massive pyramids, which were built during Egypt’s great Old Kingdom. Mystery surrounds these ancient monuments. How were these great structures built in such ancient times? Where did the ancient Egyptians get the construction techniques used to build the pyramids? Where did the Egyptians obtain the wealth to build the pyramids? These and many more questions have been asked by scholars and lay people alike.

Easter is a celebration of Christ's triumph over death (in real-world history). Foundational to Easter is the historical event of the Passover and Israel's exodus from Egypt, when God delivered his people from Pharoah's hand in many amazing and miraculous ways (also in real-world history).

Jewish people, and some Christians, participate in the celebration of Seder at the time of Passover each year. This celebration focuses on remembering the deliverance of Israel from Egypt. Part of the Seder celebration is the breaking of the matzah, which symbolizes the parting of the Sea of Reeds.

As we discuss the details of the "Red Sea" crossing (based on knowing its geographical location), we can see many parallels to the Easter story. When defeat seemed certain, when the enemy thought victory was within his grasp, when God's plan didn't seem to make sense—life triumphed over death, the enemy was defeated in a mighty display of God's power, God brought His people to a place of freedom and deliverance, and sent them forth to conquer the land.

On this episode, Steve and Jennifer discuss a video that was released mid-January, in which a well-known Christian leader stated his opinion that Noah's Flood could have been a local flood. He gave reasons why he believes this is a faithful interpretation of the biblical text. This topic spread like wildfire on social media, with opinions sharply divided.

The geographical extent of Noah's Flood will not be determined based on opinion alone, or even based on the biblical text alone. Extra-biblical data is needed to settle the question, which should not be difficult to find for an event of such massive proportions (if it really happened in history). The most foundational question to answer is this: what is the date of Noah's Flood?

Many groups and individuals teach on Noah's Flood, but do not answer the most basic questions. Real floods have real dates, and if Christianity is a history-based religion, we must be able to anchor Noah's Flood to the real world.

Radiocarbon dating is used to date artifacts from up to 50,000 years ago. This causes a conundrum for the Bible believer, as we discussed last month. Some Christian groups claim that radiocarbon dating is unreliable science, based on assumptions, and involves circular reasoning. Some imply that radiocarbon dating is a hoax. Is any of this true?

How old is the earth? When was it created? Is our planet thousands of years old, or is it millions, or even billions of years old?

When considering these questions, many Christians are aware that science seems to say one thing, and the Bible seems to say another.

As discussed on previous episodes, it can now be demonstrated that ancient biblical history is accurate, real history. Major events like the Exodus and the Flood (and much more) can be placed on the timeline of history because they happened in the real world. The key is correct biblical chronology.

This corrected biblical chronology leads us to a Creation date of 5176 B.C. But yet, science seems to show that we are living on an earth that is much, much older than 7,000+ years.

Before we venture off into the question of "millions of years," in this podcast we address the question most closely at hand from a chronological standpoint. Is there evidence for the existence of people groups/civilizations before the time of Adam? If so, how are Christians supposed to properly handle such evidence?

Israel is in the headlines again. Our work at The Biblical Chronologist is necessarily intertwined with the nation of Israel in a big way. An often overlooked attack on the nation of Israel over the past century, from mainstream biblical archaeology, has resulted in near obliteration of Israel's own precious ancient history, in academia, at the present time. Following last month’s introduction of the manna discovery, we discuss more of the specific details of manna which are pointed out by the biblical text. On today's podcast the Manna discovery is publicly presented for the first time. Our lively discussion brings to light many aspects of the manna discovery which are found in the new book, Bread from Heaven: the Manna Mystery Solved.

The physical substance of manna, described in the ancient Old Testament, caused the Israelites to ask the question, “What is it?”

The answer to this question has been a mystery for over four-and-a-half thousand years.

Some have claimed that manna was secreted by insects. Others have relegated the manna account to a purely mythological category. Still others say that manna was purely miraculous, and it is not a physical substance that can be investigated.
