Well, we'd like to say we're surprised by the online anime community and their opinions towards Mushoku Tensei, but we're not. Each and every season, we are treated to the same arguments, the same rhetoric, and the same vitriol anime fans have towards Mushoku Tensei. The. Exact. Same. Now, do we hear these opinion pieces constantly? No. Do we hear new perspectives on fans of the show are just as disgusting as the anime itself? No. It's the same opinion fans regurgitate between one another over and over and over again... So, in the spirit of open discussions, MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter open the floor on the topic once again. The Summer convention season is still swinging big, from Anime Expo taking place at the beginning of July to San Diego Comic Con just having wrapped up this past weekend. With all of these major conventions happening in a short time frame there surely can't be many new or exciting announcements for the anime and manga fandoms, right? WRONG! SDCC surprised many with an enormous amount of manga announcements from publishers big and small across Japan! In fact, more manga publishers were present and presenting at SDCC than had been in attendance at Anime Expo! Crazy, right?! With all of the announcements over the weekend, Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage decided to breakdown the many announcements made from the publishers and give their thoughts on the current trends they are seeing in the manga market!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a perfect example of this phenomenon where an English translation will come 5, 10, or even 15 years after the series has concluded... ಠ﹏ಠ So, to help satiate our appetite while we patiently wait for a physical or digital release, many fans will turn to fan translated versions of the series online. These sites helped to bring many new series over to the English-reading population and was a perfect placeholder for fans to either catch up on a series or simply start something new while waiting for the official English release to be announced. Now, sadly, many of these sites are receiving cease and desists from the licensing companies and have been forced to either remove titles from their library or shut down all together. Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage will recap the recent string of events that took place for some of these fan translation sites and what this could mean for the future of English manga readers.

It's about profiting off of series that go out-of-print or are rare to find, forcing those who desperately want to enjoy them to take a second mortgage on someone else's home just to afford them. A monster, you say? Well, if you want the entire Monster series it'll be $750! Satire aside, Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage talk about those hard-to-find manga series and debate which ones deserve a reprinting. With series coming back as Omnibuses, Perfect editions, and Deluxe editions, its only a matter of time until the scalpers' lose on their bets. Trading cards games.. What was once controlled by nerds and sweaty men, the universe of TCGs has expanded immensely over the last 5 years and evolved into something no one could have possibly predicted. Where once Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokémon dominated alone, the TCG market has exploded with a plethora of new options, many of them using anime for the base of their game! Some of these new TCGs were created from existing anime IP, like One Piece and Dragon Ball Z. Others simply use anime to develop new cards for their game, like Weiss Schwarz and Universus. And some simply try to add flair to their cards and attract a new audience to their game, like Magic the Gathering. No matter how you look at it, anime has become a major influence on TCGs today to the point where anime fans and trading card collectors are coming together to form one beautiful, smelly community of nerds. Truly a sight to be seen.

Viz has launched a new program to help aspiring mangaka around the globe jump into the spotlight that has always been centered around just Japan. Viz Originals One-Shots (not an entirely creative name, but gets right to the point) is aimed at showcasing new manga creators from around the world on the Viz platform. Creating a stage this large can only spell good things for the manga world, but avoiding the mistakes that Tokyopop made when they attempted this same feat will be a challenge as well. (¬_¬") MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter talk about the depressing news out of Japan concerning recent bans due to poor tourist behavior. Areas of the Gion District in Kyoto are now restricted due to tourists abusing the businesses and individuals in the area just for a picture of the geisha wandering the streets. The Japanese government is even erecting a wall over a Lawson's in Fujikawaguchiko because tourists were littering so much and causing traffic blocks just to snap a viral photo... While its great to see the tourism industry thrive in such a beautiful country, it is a shame that many people are taking advantage of the niceties that Japan has to offer. The Baka Bois will share their thoughts on the matter in this week's episode.
